There isn't room for five axes, but let's see what I can come up with...

(anonymous, folks, it's safe to come out as a Fully Ionized Bush Republican)

I'll jump ship and go with almost anyone as long as beer and pastry are involved.

Is the New American Century one different than American Century Ultra?

New American Century is neo-conservative.

How can someone be a new conservative? There is just something wrong sounding about that.

I don't even pretend to know what all those terms mean. I simply go with 'the common sense stuff that doesn't screw over people's right to do things, but doesn't undermine society and the rule of law' party. But I consider myself a Democrat :)

I didn't want to say. They want to be conservative, but not wear button-down collars or use cufflinks or fountain pens.

They also have a thing for pre-emptive war.

Well, here's what I mean by them, but like all labels there's debate:

Progressive: traditional "left".
Classical Progressive: in favor of industrialization of the Western states.

Free-market: laissez-faire capitalist

New American Century: The US should be a RICH world policeman.

Disestablishmentarian: Opposed to the establishment of a state church.

Unionist: Not ionized. just kidding. Pro-union.

Classical Conservative: Classical progressive, but in favor of a strong federal national park system.

Conservationist: Green party.

Classical Liberal: Fiscally conservative.

Civil Libertarian: Social Liberal.

Whoever promises pie: The Ferret's Choice!

They're kind of a cross between Andrew Jackson and Teddy Roosevelt, except they haven't actually been in combat. Or they think they are, but they *lost* New Orleans instead of capturing it.

I am glad that you provided a definition. I thought unionist might have something to do with country borders. Like Lincoln was a unionist. Pro-union. Didn't want the union to fall apart.

If you like, I was thinking of trade-unions. I left out Federalist, sorry.

Why label yourself? Just think on your own. Use your own mind to decide what's right or wrong based on your own opinion.

They started as a group of ex Trotskyites who decided to support the US during the Cold War They want a strong government, they don't mind high taxes, they also don't mind sending other people's kids to die in distant lands or in killing the kids of people they don't like. They like war, but none of the have ever worn the uniform. They are much too important to do that. They don't really take an stance on social issues, but when they do they tend to be blatant hypocrites.

Didn't Gore Vidal once observe, of this whole phenomenon, that no true Virginian, at least, would dream of supporting anything new?

I think I support the The Party of Moderate Progress Within the Bounds Of the Law.

Glad I was able to click several things. You can't pigeonhole even a pigeon, much less an organism as complex and advanced as a beagle.

I think it came out anarchist.

I have no political bias. The rest of you, of course, hold some pretty controversial views...

grin

Actually, there's been some undoing of the traditional 'belief service packs' in recent years. What I mean by that, is that clustering of opinions about unions, abortion, death penalty, and so forth along large group lines is kind of decaying.

Making it really hard to tell whose side you really want to be on, when it comes to politics. There are many choices in life, but only two major parties.
