From: Ciaran Laval Personally I think it's crazy madness to be bidding for sims or buying islands whilst LL are still deciding what to do about tier fees. I would assume that LL spends every day deciding what to do about tier fees, regardless of what is said in blogs, etc.

I just don't understand why so much reclaimed land just sits there for so long collecting trash. I went through a random established sim that was a mishmash of stuff and discovered that about 1/3 was owned by the Gov., about 1/3 was owned by residents who no longer show up in Search, and that the remaining third was small ad plots, one viable store, and then a bunch of plots owned by residents who showed up in search but had clearly ditched the land. I just don't get it. It seems that many of the reclaimed plots in SL would be purchased by neighbors if they would just go to auction---I don't see why it takes so long. Is it simple manpower issues? Heck, pay my tier for a month and I'll clean up all that abandoned land and get it on the auction site at a nice steady pace.

From: Chas Connolly Can you apply directly to buy so-called maintenance land (Governor linden-owned) or do you have to go through the auction system? The Guv'ner has a few 16m2 plot near me. Just 16m2? I asked support if I could have an adjoining small 64m2 plot and they just gave it to me. Worth a try.

Just curious how you can tell land has been ditched?

They had stated many more plots would be coming to auction, yet it's been only a trickle. Once again, an old SL system seems to be working better than a new one.

From: Avion Raymaker Just curious how you can tell land has been ditched? If it's non-protected land owned by Govenor Linden on an older, established sim.

From: Avion Raymaker Just curious how you can tell land has been ditched? Well, it was pretty obvious. The description of the land still saying "First Land--Land for the Landless", a very simple house put down, and a bunch of pyramids dropped down around it saying "free money!" not owned by the landowner......or..... A platform put down on a parcel by the landowner (with a totally blank profile, birth date in mid-06), several clothes boxes scattered over it that someone left behind after opening them (not the landowner) and a vehicle left stuck on the property owned by a third person who doesn't exist in Search anymore---but not any vehicle! A banana-phone hover vehicle that sings (over and over and over) "Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring! Banaaanaaa Phoooone!" This sings not only on that plot but can be heard over about 1/4 of the sim. How long must that have been there and no one complains to get it removed? Anyway, I could go on and on.....it isn't hard to recognize.

Right...when you click 'About Land' the owner name appears and you can even see their profile, but if you look them up in Search they don't exist.

Anyway, I could go on and on.....it isn't hard to recognize. What that plot needs is a preservation order. It should be at least backed up and re-rezzed annually as a historical exhibit. It's pure Zeitgeist.
