Speed up the presses!1 Here is some old news :)

Back in the Land Auctions thread on October 18th I posted

============================

Don't worry. Be happy!

There are 34 sims in purple on the Corsica map right now.
Most of them were not even there to have any colour a few days ago.
Could be that someone will start pressing the buttons soon.

Most of it is granite, but there's a nice little isthmus in the south east. You could have an isthmus for Christhmus (and maybe 'for cheep').

=============================

So nobody get excited. Nothing to see. Move along please.

Those sims have all been sitting there, named and marked for Auction since (I think) October 15th

Can you apply directly to buy so-called maintenance land (Governor linden-owned) or do you have to go through the auction system? The Guv'ner has a few 16m2 plot near me.

You can contact them. I was told the land I wanted has to go through the auction system, but they didn't know when. So, I have to keep checking.

Although of course, if there's new land where there used to be water, it's pretty much the opposite of a flood :)

I was basing my assertion that since the sims were named, they would be coming to auction soon like they used to. But in today's market, with the new auction system and LL not doing business as usual, anything can happen. Including nothing.

But if the sky parts and the granite rains down upon ye like brimstone, let ye know thou hast been warned.

The time change is coming this weekend for many in the USA.

In other words, once they get home it will be dark. Too dark to do much outside. And cold, too. TV will prove itself boring for yet another year. People will rediscover that they have a computer and an SL account.

It's easy to forget that soooo many people don't have dedicated metaverse lifestyles like many of us here in forums do; they do whatever is the most fun at the best time for it.

I was once like that... but an active inworld business tends to keep a guy coming back daily.

Expect users to be coming back steadily, with a big spike around US Thanksgiving and an even bigger one in the most rocking metaversal month of them all, January.

Because there really, really, really isn't much else to do in January when you are stuck at home. Nothing like last year's numbers, but still good.

We'll see if I'm right very soon.

One of the first things a land baron does with a water sim is to raise the seabed as high as possible - even if it's silly because the original Linden seabed is way more than 4 metres below water level.

They must hate floods.

B) I wonder how many people will buy these sims and then suddenly find out tey're paying 15-25% extra VAT after they win the auction. Could be fun.
I was sure Zee said that LL would be eating the VAT on sim purchase prices? Unless that only applied to private sims? :confused:

(Never mind, just listened to the first bit again and he was talking about existing sims)

Ray,

You haven't touched on the important issue here. What are current mainland prices and how are they being affected by this? ;)

L$7.0 base and no effect so far cause the sims are just sitting there unauctionated.

I couldn't find any new sims beyond those in the east of Corsica that have been there for a week or two with te big grey mountain.

But WOOT! ...... I've swum the recently opened channel between Nautilas and Corsica successfully today. Freetstyle most of the way, with a bit of backstroke. I think I had to cross about 6 or 7 water sims from mainland to mainland.

If they were selling sims, would most likely be mon-wed they would put them up (but like you said, never know) (I'm still trying to figure out why CSI ???)

Personally I think it's crazy madness to be bidding for sims or buying islands whilst LL are still deciding what to do about tier fees.
