Or what about Larry, Moe and Curly? (or Shemp and Joe, for that matter)
Larry and Moe - then and now:

Useless trivia for those who may care, Moe, Curly and Shemp were brothers, real names Maurice, Jerome and Samuel Horowitz.

no, but I did find this Curly on a random search

Oh for shame! 'Tis none other than Curly Watts, paperboy, binman, sales assistant etc etc, in the long-running oop north soap "Coronation Street" - think Dallas without the money, land, cars, helicopters, oil, or indeed anything interesting at all, but with black pudding, flat caps and a healthy dose of ecky thump! (kudos if you get that last lol)

As for the original question:
it's holiday time, people actually take time off or go away from home and remove themselves from the daily grind. I did.

In Australia, schools have just restarted for the year this week. major infrastructure projects are only just ramping up to a full workforce and of course there is NOTHING on any 6 tv channels here until maybe next week.
February is when things really get started for the new year. Here in OZ at least.

Peace and love to the world.

Useless trivia for those who may care, Moe, Curly and Shemp were brothers, real names Maurice, Jerome and Samuel Horowitz.

But... Do you know these famous Jewish brothers?

"It was a sweltering August day in 1937 when the Cohen brothers entered the posh Dearborn, Michigan, offices of Henry Ford, the car maker. "Mr. Ford," announced Norman Cohen, the eldest of the three. "We have a remarkable invention that will revolutionize the automobile industry."

Ford looked skeptical, but their threat to offer it to the competition kept his interest piqued. "We would like to demonstrate it to you in person."

After a little cajoling, they brought Mr. Ford outside and asked him to enter a black automobile parked in front of the building.

Hyman Cohen, the middle brother, opened the door of the car.

"Please step inside, Mr. Ford."

"What!" shouted the tycoon, "Are you crazy? It must be two hundred degrees in that car!"

"It is," smiled the youngest brother, Max, "but sit down Mr. Ford, and push the white button."

Intrigued, Ford pushed the button. All of a sudden a whoosh of freezing air started blowing from vents all around the car, and within seconds the automobile was not only comfortable, it was quite cool.

"This is amazing!" exclaimed Ford. "How much do you want for the patent?"

Norman spoke up, "The price is one million dollars." Then he paused. "And there is something else: The name 'Cohen Brothers Air-Conditioning' must be stamped right next to the Ford logo!"

"Money is no problem," retorted Ford, "but no way will I have a Jewish name next to my logo on my cars!'

They haggled back and forth for a while and finally they settled. Five million dollars, but the Cohens' name would be left off. However, the first names of the Cohen brothers would be forever emblazoned upon the console of every Ford air conditioning system.

And that is why, even today, whenever you enter a Ford vehicle, you will see those three names clearly printed on the air conditioning control panel: NORM, HI and MAX "

Hyman Cohen's nickname was Buster, by the way.

Give Curly his due - he did rise to the giddy heights of manager at Bettabuy.

And not interesting? Dallas never had any characters quite as wonderful as Ena Sharples, Elsie Tanner and Stan and Hilda Ogden!

The pleasure was mine. Always nice to see you in one form or another.

I do tend to let my alt Izdzan get more air time lately. I'm soon hoping to strike a 50/50 balance between the two though, before the jealously wars start between them. Prim or particle bloodshed between them could get messy in a hurry. :D

I'm just the snobby German gal correcting people's grammar....but I have lived in Wales and sometimes say nasty things about my fiancé? Does that qualify? :D

And I'm fairly busy in RL at the moment (for "moment", read "the last few months" and use the Present Perfect) ;)

hmmm...such as? Can you give any quick tips?

Ashe

Well I IM'd Pep and asked him to help me make my profile reflect a certain image; I have to say that I'm pleased with the results. Quick tips? Hmmm... take pics of yourself at your Picks in front of your favorite spot (I'm still working on this) so that people can get an idea both of the spot and you.

Does it really matter where these people go? The world (real world, taht is) is a big place. Maybe they just got bored with sl. Maybe they died. Truly, unless we actually seek out each other in actual physical reality we are just luminescences who have a few pixillated moments of fame. Flavours of teh Month, as they say.

Anyway, certain persons was always on at me about something or another so I felt like I was writing a school essay or was a noisy neighbour in a condo. Made me shift away from forums pretty fast.

Well Jig- honestly I don't feel that way. I am happy for the people i meet here and in world. What does it matter if we met physically or not? A little stretch and we can say what does it matter who we meet all since we are all just going to die one day any way. I miss a lot of folks I got used to reading here- even ones I didn't really know. I think of the lady with the dogs at times- the one that always called everyone darling. I miss the ones that we know left and why- and honestly, I miss Pep, too.

I totally disagree. I've made some true friends here, both inworld and in the Forums. I'll probably never meet them in RL but we're there for each other, and I would certainly care if they dropped off SL or the Forums forever with (or without) explanation. :( I'm sorry your experience has been less.

Ditto and waves to Oryx (speaking of which, can you send me that picture you took of Ghosty and I at lunch?)

I have very dear friends here in SL, several of whom have my RL info including my phone number and could call me any time they care to. I met my current BF here on the forum and live now with him in RL no less. All of these people have been there for me through some difficult times both inworld and out.

We are not just pixels. Many of us have transcended the virtual and leaped into the messy, chaotic world of flesh and blood and are thrilled to have done so.

Even those whom I may have had words and disagreements with, when they are gone for long periods of time, I begin to wonder about their whereabouts. I have a heart and soul, and how I feel about someone personally has nothing to do with my concern about anothers welfare.

No matter how you look at it, particularly here on this Forum, we've come to know each other rather well; for better or worse and Jig, if you suddenly disappeared I'm sure we'd all be worrying just as much about you - whether you like it or not :p

I was going to reply to Jigs post but refrained but since it's headed that way anyway, I'd like to paste something I put in the "other place" earlier ..

I think there's an all together over-enthusiastic desire to categorise with respect to SL/RL To explain:

I have four avatars. bilbo is me, even the name is the same as the forum entity who met my Morgaine on the Starship Titanic forum ten years ago. We are engaged but live a middle-distance apart so use SL as an enhanced comms channel to the one we started on. We're real; the avatars are representatives. Network be damned, we're in a relationship LOL

I brought a biker chum into SL who DJs in a club we frequent. Again, real people who really met, now using cartoon representatives.

There are many others who I've not met RL but we can and do speak RL. We can mix RL and SL in single posts at the cartel hangout, Toby's Juke Joint, anywhere.

We know from past threads there are couples who have met in SL, gone to RL and married (and stayed married!)

There are many others who have no intention or desire to meet real and are happy to stay role playing, ficticious players, (my other three avatars)

These are not necessarily categories .. they are five points on a scale that has many graduations. It's up to the individual to choose just where on that scale they want to be with each and every one of their contacts. What I say here has probably fallen into gaps on everyone elses scales. Basically ride the ride, you don't know where you're going till you get there.

Make rules if you want, but it's a blank sheet of paper and we all start off with different views, targets, aspirations and marital status.

Am I the only English guy really annoyed with this thread.. I find it objectionable to people in the UK and wonder how long a thread asking about the absence of other nationalities / races / cultures would have lasted...

It also breaks forum rules.
