This is all about privacy, and people wanting it and SL delivering it, if you ccan't won't verify, despite popular logic here, LL aren't saying anything about banning unverified people from anywhere except where landowners choose not to allow them. So the shopowners moving to Adult Island, the current island owners who must age verify all roleplayers/visitors, and anyone else wanting to do anything LL considers 'adult' in SL have a *choice*? First I've heard of it. Great, everyone CAN just say no. (snip) it's simple if you won't/can't verify to get into the adult continent, you have all the rest of SL to go to. If only everyone else had thought of that! Nevermind that: This dictates to a good portion of SL how they will play their game. The economic fallout will be felt throughout SL. People are already suspending shopping and land buying in anticpation of this huge change to the landscape (literally and figuratively as well). Some smug people feel they are fine with this and everyone else can just suck it up. There has been as yet no clear reason let alone justification for this large rule change. |

Um, what? Scripts don't download at all. I'm so confused. that one I will answer My sentence was a bit unclear, what I meant is that only the downloading of textures can be contributing to a laggy user experience. High script times add to a laggy experience as well, though not by uploading._____________________

Briana, you can file an abuse report all you want.. I do not take to your threats especially since there has been no harassment. If you do not wish to be contacted inworld, then learn to play nice in the forums so be careful how you tread and stop trolling threads just to get a bite. Actually maybe we need to file an abuse report against you for being offtopic and also for deliberately trying to damage Lilith's business with your unsubstantiated libelous comments. That is definitely harassment. Furthermore, you do not get to dictate what stays in the forums or not. These forums ARE a part of Second Life and they absolutely DO have an impact, positive or not. Lillith came here for support from her community not to be flamed and trashed. I find that utterly pathetic. Oh shut up. Oh and look, unlike the LAST TIME, you have yet to IM me with all your stupid chat logs to make your case. I do get to dictate what is brought into my life in SL from these forums - oh you better believe i do. No one is damaging her business. 1024's cause lag, duh. A LOT OF THEM cause uber lag. It's not freaking rocket science even for a low brow tech like myself. I support Lilith's message 100%. So don't derail it just because i commented that 1024's cause lag. I don't support your bullshit tripe - you the person from the Openspace fiasco that kicked over 2000 people from a group you hostilely took over. Get over yourself. I freaking hate you for that crap you sent me inworld trying to draw me into your drama with all your stupid notecards of "proof" of how right you are. Go to hell. /SuperBitchMode Off The onyl person being flamed here is you. And yet you make this long post like i executed some attack post on Lillith when all i said was a remark about 1024's. Nothing trying to HURT her business. If commenting on the texture choice someone makes in their business is 'libelous or slandering' as you say then where the hell has Free Speech gone. Maybe you cant criticize a business in France, but you can damn well do that in the U.S. of A. Lilith, you make great stuff, i own a BUNCH of it that i used to decorate my wedding. Keep up the great work with care for texture size as well. Vyrll - you're a muppet. _____________________

Since the script CPU limits were turned on last year, script lag has been a pretty minor issue. Avatars and other physical objects are the biggies these days. Since the thread is derailed already: Isn't it so that with many scripts running (so a big total script time) the sim would get slower? Wouldn't that be one of the reasons they are going to cap the script use on Homesteads? That is why I am keen to keep up with this information, I just rented a HS and want to make sure I keep within boundaries ![]() What I do notice (crappy laptop) is that when I look towards the 1/4 sim where a few hundred plants are, I experience way more lag then when I look to a still empty part. Even when all plants are rezzed. _____________________

Be careful. Abuse reports are being threatened for thread derailment. Don't be an anarchist! Anarchy rules! The RQ (Resident Question) has been answered already I guess, so I feel entitled to derail ![]() _____________________

Isn't it so that with many scripts running (so a big total script time) the sim would get slower? If you have three thousand 40k scripts on a sim (which is not all that unlikely), that takes up 120MB of active memory. A regular sim only gets 800M to play with for everything... scripts, objects, avatars, cache, the physics engine, and all the little database and communication processes. A homestead or openspace only gets 200M. So what happens is the sim spends all its time paging to and from disk, and you get "frozen lag". _____________________
