The Japanese build and the wild west build are owned by the same guy. He owns a LOT of Docklands, as well as other frontage along Route 66. Not sure what his angle is.

Mari

His angle is "what theme?"

Somebody should tell him to fix his prim water. If you jump up and down in the street adjacent to it, you make a big splash on the dry pavement, hehehe.

Sounds like Fun! The new big Bay City Attraction... Hydroplane on a Bay City road.

I think its looking great all over, around my parcels in Tanelorn and imaginario some interesting groups are moving in and building.. In Moosehead has quickly taken on some neat lakeshore character.

Ya, there is definitely the possibilty of some great stuff goin on, an some good things taking shape. I jes wish a certain someone would, um... I dunno. Maybe not be building a skyscraper behind me. What can ya do though, ya know?

Ya. I kinda figured that was the case. Or sorts of a stealth form of grief building (It's not *too* ugly, but it could still rankle the neighbors, etc.), or heck, maybe those really *are* what he wants to spend all his money on.

I don't have a lot of time to develop it, but I tink it would be really cool if someone made a Bay City site, with a board sorta like this. Some place to foster a "community" of Bay City residents, share building tips, talk about issues, etc.

Mari
(played a bit with the "construction site" last night... but the "real build" is starting to look nice. Can't wait to place it!)

I was trying for a '50s soda fountain/ice cream shoppe but failed. Have a diner up, though, on my Moosehead parcels. One of those '50s diners that look like converted subway trains. I was looking for something to subtlely include my artwork into, up for sale but not the only or main focus of the place. Diner too small. So I failed. Heh :)

Oh, and that other parcel of mine (2, but I think of it as one) still has that garden/park look up. I may, or may not lean some nature pictures up in that Handa park.

I would *love* to see a converted diner in Bay City. If you need a hand on someting like dat, give me a hollar. How big is the plot? Maybe put the art outside, like a "sidewalk show" on easels?

Here... maybe these will rekindle your diner fire: http://www.agilitynut.com/diners/8a.html

Thank-you :) I'll have to look at the link later though, stupid work making me work. :( 2192m I think it is. A 1152 or . . 1112m, can't remember which, next to a 1008m parcel. Length wise. I wonder if the diner I got can be expanded? I hadn't thought of trying, not being much of a builder. I'll try that when I get in world tonight. At the moment it is very small (also all linked together, so even though there are booths and bar stools, there is only one spot that can be sat on in the whole place, regardless of where you try to sit . . some expansion will needed to be attempted, and then some delinking to allow more seating positions will need to be done).

At the moment the diner is up and out there to be seen plus something like 4-6 cars. A tow truck, a police car, a sedan and a convertible. I am not certain of the date on the tow truck, but think it is from the '50s. All of the cars that I have dates for are no older than the '50s.

That ate a lot of prims :) heh. Just on grass at the moment, as I haven't had time to try to put down a parking lot, or sidewalks or anything like that.

If it can be unlinked, then some expansion should be easy. If it is mod-copy, then yer really in business. Judging from how those buildings usually go in RL, too, additions do not necessarily have to match the railcar that much.

If you have the cars out dat Mister Grommet makes, like the ones in your piccies, ya.. those do take a lot of prims. They lilkely all fit theme beautifully, too. I would also suggest the vehicles in Arcadia Asylum's old "Slum City" stuff. I'm likely gonna use one of her pickups in my build. They look great and are fairly low prim.

Ya might also wanna figgure on a space or two where visitors might happen to park. Like if I drive my soap box racer over. ;-)

I know that it is no copy (bummer). I think it is mod/transfer. I was attempting to examine the idea of putting down a parking lot, or the like, and accidently slapped road onto the side of the railcar. Then I looked and saw it was no copy and I didn't have the textures. I whimpered. Then, magically, the texture was replaced with the original texture. Very strange. Then I looked and I saw what looked like the Diner textures in my texture folder. Apparently I got them, but they didn't come in the same folder as the diner.

I saw a drugstore that might also work, so was thinking of getting that also and adding it to one end of the plot or another. Or several of them. Heh. When I saw the diner is small . . .it is really small. :) Long and thin. But not too long. At the moment I have lots and lots of grass for people to park on :) I have object entry on, and auto-return on, so people can drive up and park. I need to change autoreturn to a longer period of time so people can actually visit.

If Grommet is the person behind Primouth, then yes. If not . . heh, they are Primouths :).

I'll look over "the vehicles in Arcadia Asylum's old "Slum City" stuff", though at the moment I'm focused, at the moment, on trying to find the "right" building. Hope I can figure out expanding the current one and delinking it so people can sit. :)

It is too bad it isn't copy, or I'd use the bodies of several, somehow, to expand it . . . but it is no copy.

Oh! I was also driving around to see what I might see that I might like, but the one place that I liked in my very short trip seemed to have been built by someone that only sells music instruments, so can't go look over a prefab store. :( Oh, and I also like the Cafe Deco, but that is made by a Mole and another dead end.

Some of my original plans included two buildings on the plot I have now. I see no problem with using more than oen building and mixing things up a bit. In fact, it might make it better.

I was just thinking, as Bay city is a Virtual 50's City... shouldnt it all be in Black and White? :D

Only if it were a television show. Movies had color by the '50s (heck, they had color since the beginning, though it wasn't until later that it was successful (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_motion_picture_film)). Granted you can still find black and white "artistic" films today, so there were B&W films back in the '50s also.

I've got a Bay City type build on the way, just about finished, using most of the textures from the free pack... it is royal red inside, with moldings, has bay windows and scripted sheer drapes with gold leaf appliqués that will tint solid. It has a 5m foundation and optional steps. I am pretty happy with it so far...too bad I'm not in the market for a lot there!

A building that I designed may be going into bay City some time soon. The store I designed it for has one other builder that I know of who is trying to offer a build for that purpose. Haven't seen their version, nor do I know who it is, so I don't know how my offer stacks up against their efforts. We will see which the store owner chooses. Could be someone else entirely, if yet another builder finishes a prototype before the cut-off date.

No matter whose building gets picked, I'll admit it was kinda fun to try to design something that looked like it belonged in Bay City.

Looks like I will not be a Bay City resident. I just can't justify those prices. And the tier on my home 8K got raised to $60 this week, so I packed up my house and left. Headed for my first rez day, and I'm homeless. Bummer Week in SL.

I totally concur! I picked an art deco theme from the 1920-30's for my design. 58 prims total with sculpted staircase. If anyone would care to give me an opinion of it Id like to hear it!

I have decided to make it available for limited time intended for bay city residents.. copy mod if you like to tear it apart..

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Bay%20City%20-%20Tanelorn/159/199/26

You can see the building on a couple of the adjacent plots..hoping that instead of putting in skyscrapers new people coming in can have something to pop in quickly:)

It's me... i do not sell only musical instruments :P ...but in bay city, i own one of my satellite shops. You may actually find some other "prefabs" made by me that i donated for free to some residents, with the pourpose of preserving the area. They aren't top notch, but i really i don't have too much time left to invest into this... and I also made those buildings upon the parcel shape/size so a prefab without modification wouldn't be fitted very well. And i've also built some other things on bay city... but this is another story. :)

I like your builds, they are very simple but at the same time elegant. Less is more

I was able to win one of the Argos lots this morning. It's a nice lot in the middle of the sim on the canal, and I _only_ had to pay $70,000 for it. That's more than I wanted to pay, but seeing the final prices on the other lots, I'm surprised it didn't go for a lot more. Now I've just got to figure out how to build something that looks like it belongs. Hopefully the surrounding plots went to end users (or resellers that give up easily).

Yay! I was hoping you'd get a spot in Argos. Only makes sense. I hope my friend 3D got the one she was looking at, too.
