Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to stop a peeping tom (or jane) from looking at you in your private home. The problem I'm having is that they appear outside of the parcel I am in. What measures can I take to prevent peeping?

buy a private sim, and turn off public entry
other than that, there is no way to stop prying eyes, ppl can turn off cam constraints and cam in and see you, all they have to do is be able to find you, and the dot on the map helps do that. _____________________

IF you make a skybox it will stop peepers using unassisted flight usually
A double walled skybox could make it trickier for them to get their camera inside. Unfortunately those methods really aren't anywhere near foolproof and anyone who wasn't a noob could probably figure out how to cam around them. |

Get a security orb however with the power of camera controls even that can't help because they can land at the next parcel and look inside your home, My suggestion would be, Find out from the Estate Manager or Owner if you are allowed to put up a sky box over 500m, not that it will resolve this issue 100%, but you might feel alittle safer and can manage at that alttude with security. hope this helps

Make a quick change folder of the most hideous avi you can come up with. You know like those little short fat grieffer types.
Then when you think you’re being spied on, change into that, run around in circles then go out and fly straight towards your stalker. If they don’t poof it will be for sheer shock. But if they stay, try typing gibberish in chat, and pepper it with an occasional phrase like “IP address tracking script” or “I really need to yiff with your mother…DUDE!” Or you can try that other stuff, but I think my way would more fun. ![]() |

What Rhaorth said. If you're on the mainland. You have *NO* privacy. Ban lines, security scripts, skyboxes, etc. do nothing to give you privacy. In fact, they might do the opposite and entice people to cam through your stuff to see what you're hiding. --Hugsy _____________________

im working on a client based product that is based upon the "show look at/show point at" postition from an avatar.
each avatar has their own point and each color represents a different function. i have identified what each color represents, from black, grey, yellow, pink, red, blue and green. i am currently working on identifying the avatars to the points specifically for pink. currently, the beta stage of this application allows you to pick the avatar and "see" through their eyes, where they focus to and zoom in/out. hopefully, ill finish this application within time. it is based on the older open source code for the SL viewer version 1.18.4 and is modified to work without forced updates. i plan to have this as a free download when its completed. |

I sure hope that it will require permission from the avatar of whose eyes you will be seeing through
that would be so uncool otherwise... talk about peeping tom, peep right through your eyes... _____________________

why would it need permission when you can currently cam to anyone, anywhere based on your draw distance ? oh I dunno, let's see... girl and guy standing together, they are a couple, she uses this program to see where he is looking by looking through his eyes and lo and behold he is looking at another girl... *fight ensues* or.. you are in a store... looking at the ad for someone's item and get called AFK all of a sudden and are still cammed on their item... owner gets suspicious because of all the theft going on, looks through your eyes sees you glued to their item pic and you do not respond (because you are AFK) they kick and ban you from the store then start the untrue and unfounded rumor you are a thief, all based on something they should not have been able to see in the first place... looking through someone else's eyes without their consent is an invasion of privacy in my book. It is like reading their mail, without asking them, or seeing their im's etc... _____________________

Its Second Life, sue me. lol. LOL someone will have a beef with it I am sure and report it and blah blah blah I personally do not care who sees what I am looking at, usually just boring prims or space... some might not feel the same way no need to be a smart ass, I was simply thinking of your side of it, of the what if it is somehow construed to be breaking the TOS etc as you said "It's second life" so I guess I will just move along and not give a rat's ass _____________________

Torley recently released a tutorial that shows you how to make a roof or wall invisible even if it doesn't belong to you, with the roof or wall invisible you can see everything behind it anyways

Nobody laughed at my Jeepers Creepers joke, huh? Tough crowd. Oh well.
Anyway, as others have stated, if you want privacy, don't log into a public space like SL. It's that simple. _____________________

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that if you are so bored in SL that you want to see my cartoon get personal with another cartoon as opposed to doing it yourself, ..meh. Whatever. _____________________
