Yesterday I learned for the first time that there is a Second Life credit card. Who knew! It was discussed here last fall... /327/e0/225564/1.html...but not much since then. I'm curious to know if this outfit is still operating. Does anyone have one of the virtual credit cards? Any merchants accept it? Thanks.

Hi Scott-I have several different stores set up to accept MetaCard and a few people have used this option. Hopefully they will become a bit more aggressive in their advertising.

The credit limit on the gold card is only 10k, that seems worthless?

I never understood how this can work, how do they ensure people pay them back?

they take your rl credit card information which is where i ran into problems they did not tell me that at the beginning of the month they would put $100 (rl) hold against it in case you dont pay so when i had $100 from my bank account on hold that i couldnt use at the beginning of the month for rl rent i had them cancell my metacard account when i paid off my small ballance (my balance was not $100 rl worth of linden)

*edited a spelling mistake* Thats odd, the fine print says they will never charge your card unless there is a case of fraud.

ill never use it as consumer or for business
you can use your CC with LL if you need to buy L$ and if you can`t afford it, don`t buy it
went to a store last that used meta card, wanted to check out how much items costed so clicked it, got 4 goddamn dialogs per item ffs and just left even as they had some nice stuff

I might be persuaded to apply for it if the credit limit was around 500,000 with monthly payments of 300.

It just seems to me like one of those "well, it works in RL so let's do it in SL" without really thinking if it has any real USE there.
They hope that people will just assume that because they use one in RL, it's better to use one in SL.
So if someone could tell me what the point is - why I should give my RL CC information to a perfect stranger....?

Oh my god, that's insane.
Their super-secured Gold Card really does have a credit limit of US$37. *boggles*

Doesn't this violate the "No Banking" TOS amendment that LL put up a few months ago? How do they get around that? Credit being one of the main instruments of the banking industry a CC is just a secured loan. Have they supplied LL w/ the appropriate papers to continue?

Interesting but the banking ban seemed to be aimed at the bank paying you interest. Rather than you paying someone else interest. I am not sure though.

I guess my question is... Why would I want to? Just sounds like another opening for a fraud scam to me.

Meet the FirstMeta management team: https://www.firstmeta.com/main/teamI don't know what to think. Wharton? Singapore? Encrypted banking software development? Do these people expect to become the MasterCard of virtual worlds? Do they have a shot at it?

Yes, I've been boggling at this one since i first heard of it. Buy Lindens with your RL card to pay on your Virtual Card, paying interest on both potentially, Why on earth would you do that? All I can guarantee is, I'll never support it.

I offer it as an option as a merchant, and yes people do use it I get some sales via cash and some via the card
maybe some people like it more for the role play aspect, immerse themselves into SL in this way *shrug*
never got it as a consumer because I do not shop enough
