Searching for things to do

Has anyone had no friends on and found yourself wanting to do something so you search for some place new and only find yourself overwhelmed or bombarded only with sex or shopping?
What do you do?

Well you always have to have that 'break in case of emergency' group that is there when you need it. Its always good to take some time and keyword search the groups to see anything thatinterests you, talk to poeple in teh group and get to know about their activities.

I made this outfit called "The Tranny of Tarnburg". I put on a man's, muscular shape with a woman's skin that had makeup. Then I made some lovely shredded pants with alpha on just the right places on the front and back of the pants. I'm so glad he/she was anatomically correct. Top it off with a black blinging purse, high heels, and a gorean harness. Mmmhmmm, that AO really let him/her work it gurl.


This is why I always try to stay unbored in SL...

Absolutely. Especially if I want to take a break from making stuff as well. So I keep notes of places people recommend in the forums or that look interesting on Flickr or Snapzilla and explore. Or in search, ignore popular places, instead search for garden, adventure, scary etc. You could also try searching PG places only, some good fun to be had and wonderful things to see!
Also, in general search terms, I rarely go to any of the most popular results. I check descriptions, pop in, if I don't like it I move on.

I look which of my friends is onlne and talk to one I haven't talked to in ages.

If nobody is available for a chat, I look at what classes are available and take one.

If no classes interest me, I build something.

if I am too tired to build, I try sorting my inventory a bit (neverending task)

IF all that fails, It must be after midnight and I go to bed

I'm totally with Imogen on this one, 'cept, I don't go to bed at midnight. Though I've discovered before and recently rediscovered a few days ago, nothing keeps a person unbored and awake when you are completely exhaused like reading the forums.

Hey, no easy answer this time LOL

Largely depends on just how you feel at the time. Sometimes I might just stand in Bagg End and go through my inventory.

Sometimes I'll follow a link that a group notice might bring, get bored with the shop/club/whatever and just explore the local sim.

I might pluck a keyword out of thin air and hit search.

Last night I worked my way through the Labyrinth at Hell (Darnburg?) *then* explored the locality

I'm lazy. I don't build or script and my stipend is bigger than my outgoings. Hmm, that's given me some ideas for tonight

If you don't want sex or shopping you can try Sandboxes and Newbies Areas. Lot of fun there.

I didn't want to build.
I didn't want to shop.
I had weird texture shopping experience earlier so not sure if I want to shop any more.
I really hate shopping.
Gay sex cruise places just didn't appeal to me.
I guess I wanted to talk but I end up making my first lower body part of male body.
Only problem I have is how to make 3d textured male bits and hair, I think I got the bits down but hair didn't work out.
It's hard for me to find people I want to talk to about the things I am interested in.
Which these days is pretty much how to do things like textures or things probably not
worth really talking about. LOL

bored? wassat? between building scripting and thes forums I don't have time to sleep, let alone be bored...

but I do take a break every once in awhile... go exploring on random islands, hang gliding, bumper cars, and other silly stuff...

plus spending time with my SO, checking out the builds at various 'romantic getaway' type places...

if that fails, I have friends wanting me to look at this, help with that, check something out.... plus there's the groups (like tiny empires) which are good for getting together w/ people as someone is always up to something...

and for a quiet break.... Kasteel Verloren, the cottage around the right side from the front gate is just my kind of cozy

I don't get bored usually but I do get cranky when I can't figure out things and bit lonesome sometimes.
It felt like I was bored I think I was just cranky with search list and stuff and what something new to do.

I take the waters and a massage at Medusa Beach (oops am I alowed to say that?) relaxing and non-threatening - no I am a visitor only nothing to do with the group.

build some flexi-pubes, that'll keep you busy for a while!

Grr hair prims no thanks but I would like to figure out how to do them on templates.
I tried to do a crew cut recently and I am throughly burnt out by it. I can't match hairs correctly in world to look right.
Perhaps I will go to bed.

Maybe I'm one of the few, but I spend the vast majority of my online time alone, not shopping, not having sex, and not working. Alot of times I'm just standing around doing something in RL on the side.
The short amount of time I'm actually in world, if my time is not stretched, I find it alot of fun to go around to well built sims and take pictures of the sim, myself, or maybe someone else. I have fun with it anyway.

I spend a lot of alone time just creating textures or building. I have never had sex here, no interest. Shopping some but its not my favorite activity. Problem sometimes is when I am not with friends, I am not interested in building or making textures, taking classes yet not ready to take nap then sometimes I am clueless what to do. LOL

A lot of great places to vist have been mentioned here, I keep a list, and just wander. Also lately I've been revisiting some of the pubs and whatnot I used to go to in my early days. Somedays I just sit on the deck of my house and listen to music or at the Hangout,and do some IM chatting. Sometimes I just take to the skies. My friends list is quite small, around 30 people, so it's not odd that I can be on and few of my friends are online.

Lost contact with most of my friends whilst in a relationship. Was away for just over a week with computer problems recently and no sign of him on my return. Tried e-mail, msn, etc but no reply. I KNOW that he would tell me if it was over. Now I spend my time worrying that he has had an accident or a heart attack or worse. So I sit on my balcony and the hours go by.

I have tried exploring, fed up with shopping, can't be bothered to go to classes = nothing I want to make, no inspiration for building.

What am I doing in SL lol.

But seriously, SL like RL just needs that motivation sometimes. Morgaine's away on her slave galley so logging on last night knowing she wouldn't be there left a hollow pit in my stomach.

Should I watch a video? ... should I soak for an hour in the bath? ... should I open that last can of beer and imagine it's the sixth?

Sooo .. I log in my alt, muck around with my inventory for a while ... think up something really nasty to put in search .. mm, Hell! ... go there ... get lost in that incredible labyrinth .... and two hours later, a friend IMs me and invites me to go scuba diving.

A rather entertaining evening all in all. You only need the lightest of nudges sometimes.

you know, there are always the old standbys....

type random things into google image search, wikipedia, e-mail some friends, etc or heavens forbid one of the following...

log off, make a sandwich, watch a movie, read a book, call a friend, go into 'the big blue room with the scary bright thing' (which is sometimes the pretty dark room with tiny lights on the ceiling) and walk around...

I know, dumb idea, right? WTF was I thinking... =)

Visit any of the Rezzable sims...I'm particularly loving the Carnival of Doom right now.

Look under search and find a live music event. Like RL, some is great and some is eh, but it's always interesting.

i log off and do stuff i like in RL.
