A question of terminology.

Another fascinating creation.....jumping sharks....took me a while to figure out where that came from when I first heard it.

Was it just me?

But back in the 70's when that episode came out - I actually Liked it.

Course I was a kid, so ..

I don't get it.

That was before Joanie Loves Chachi, right?

One can only assume that the idea for JLC occurred AFTER Happy Days "jumped the shark." That was one of the stupider shows on TV.

Actually Happy Days lasted 7 YEARS after they "jumped the shark" lol

and yeah Joannie Loves Chaci was after that.

Ohh and wrst show ever award goes to the new reality show that Scot Bao is in.

I have never seen the actual shark epiode either. I had to look it up a while ago after one too many people insisted this or that TV series had jumped the shark... (The one that finally made me go and look it up was Doctor Who, btw...where people in a certain "infamous" fan forum havebeen insisting for years that it had jumped...some claiming it had already done that in the 70s.....go figure!)

I'm willing to hold up my hands and admit that I have also jumped the shark.

When I was that age, you couldn't watch the Fonz on German TV. I think. I was watching Star Trek, though, and Space 1999, that kind of unhealthy stuff!

Well, just think of all the orphan child avatars slaving away in Caledon, weaving fabric textures six and a half days a week in crowded factories, while others get all sooty mining for primstone in dark, narrow spaces... did you think there was no social cost?

Though I must confess, we import our wood from Nautilus and Corsica - lots of trees felled there daily.

OMG Brenda!! I'm sure you just offended many good people (american indians and asian indians) with that insensitive remark. I grew up in Wyoming and even way back in the 1960's most people would have seen your comment as incredibly insensitive.

I wish that most angelos that I have met were as good, honest and decent as the Indians I have known, from both continents.

Hence my title. My admiration for The American Indian is boundless. The way they have been treated in this country suits the OP description, in my opinion, that's why I made the reference. It was sarcasm. I'm not that important to get offeneded over.

I think you completely misunderstood Brenda. She was not denigrating (American) Indians, but rather the White Man who took advantage of them, wresting away control of the "New World" and killing and cheating the Indians until they were left with some of the most scenic yet worthless wildernesses to be found.

She was saying that rather than "Ginko'd," the proper term is "Indians" to describe those who have (to quote Conan) "suffered financial loss, loss of property, loss of face or any other form of unpleasantness through being tricked."
