I had one of those money egg things next to my land one time. That chat from the thing was driving me crazy. So, I made a device that would detect the thing shout, and it would shout back at it. It would also keep track of how many times it did this. Every time the egg shouted, my object would shout back, "I've already told you to shut up 3470 times so far! Please be quiet!!!". As soon as they got rid of their egg, my device stopped shouting too. ) zg

From: Lear Cale I'm sure you have valid grievances. IMHO, your best bet is to try to work them out. I especially like the suggestion to try moving your club to the sky: this avoids the shouting problem, and also helps because "out of sight, out of mind".
I'd like to see more businesses plant their ugly stuff in the sky, leaving the ground below for greenspace, even if it's just no-prim undeveloped land.
I suggest you hold out an olive branch. Contact your neighbor, apologize for the problems, mention the things you're going to do to help resolve them. Don't give excuses or justifications: it's tempting, but doesn't help you achieve the objective which is harmony with your neighbors. After mentioning all the things that you'll do, ask if there's anything else that is a problem, and encourage them in the future, please don't hesitate to bring problems to your attention so you can work out a solution together.
And mean it.
Most people will respond well. She can't move her stuff to the sky 'cause it's all full of their sex room rentals. Well, I guess there's room, but they have stuff all over the place. And they don't own half a sim. They own just over a third of a sim. And they usually have about 20 to 30 avvies on their land. *shrugs*

Parties?
And the kitty wasn't invited!?
I don't think Necros has ever had a party but we've talked about it. We sometimes rez mecha and things though. Our sim doesn't usually have more than 5 avvies on our sim.
Where's the party!??? What wasn't kitty invited?

From: Ceka Cianci yes that is a good one but i would still work on getting out later..move up to about 2000 meters andmake them feel like they chased you off..then about a week before you move set everything back down on the ground with a big sign on all sides saying..
By popular demand!!!We are back louder and bigger than ever!! hahaha Now that's mature.

From: Dytska Vieria Stopped by and had a look, you are still lagging the sim - Time Dilation from .79 to .93 or so, 20 avies camping or whatever. No wonder your neighbors are unhappy! Look at in their eyes. Maybe there were times where the sim was full and your neighbors could not even enjoy their own land? Yeah, it's kinda hard to fly around in our helis (we have free heli rezzers, which kinda can't be used) with all the lag. Some who live on our land also were banned from the Gor club brothel outlet store, so when they fly on the one side of the sim they usually lag off, then get ejected.

It just boggles my mind how far apart the two sides of a dispute can be!
My favourite part is where the neighbour is told to not communicate their complaints directly to the OP.
Reminds me of a certain merchant who insulted, muted and banned me for daring to lodge a customer complaint (via a notecard directly to the merchant via their suggestion box) about some business practice that I found questionable. Does no one communicate like adults any more?

Then we were told through one of our members not to talk to them any more. But, yannow, that's life. We all know that living on mainland has risks and you can't control what neighbours do. But I wish we all coulda lived peacefully.

It really sounds like the OP and their business partner perhaps look at acquiring their own sim. Then they and their customers can shout, throw eggs and whatever else to their heart's content.

The self entitlement, and unwillingness to coexist of some people really never cease to suprise me in cases like this... Here I was just thinking (before I read this thread) that my 1/8th sim area could use some prim-trimming because I have less than 300 free prims now and don't want my part of it dragging on the region at all

The fact that Linden Lab has treated the original poster in an arbitrary, unexplained manner does not surprise me. Linden Lab needs clarity and consistency in the way it handles "resident disputes." If not, constant problems such as the one that the original poster describes are the norm rather than the exception.
That said, if your business has the potential to spill over and affect your neighbors, you need to buy enough land around your business to act as a buffer between your neighbors. If you want to avoid close calls on whether your build overhangs on a neighbor's land, then buy enough land that you have room for your build with a buffer to spare. If you want your customers to be able to shout to their hearts' content in your club, buy enough land so that their shouts don't make it to your neighbor's land.
With just simple planning and building within the limits of your land, you remove the opportunities for your neighbors to make the complains to get Linden Lab involved in the first place.
Is it fair that you have to buy a buffer around your land to protect your neighbors from the spill-over effects of the enjoyment of your land? Well, that's the way it works in real life. Real life has noise ordinances. Real life has legal requirements for buffers and building at the edge of a neighbor's land. Real life businesses have to deal with zoning ordinances that require them to assure that their business does not interfere with neighbors' use of land.
So if you want to avoid the complaints from your neighbors, bite the bullet and either buy bigger land, or fit your build within the limits of your land.

From: Novis Dyrssen Maybe the OP should have mentioned that the "club" is a Gorean brothel. That could make the shouting - apart from annoying - also very much non-PG... Mystique, you do know that there is the option to restrict sound to the parcel you own? I thought I recognized the OP's name. Iirc, the original site was on Port Victoria, so apparently something happened to that location to need to relocate. If the move was to a PG sim though, not a great idea. (Disclaimer, was just introduced to the OP once when I was still part of Gor and gambling had just been banned. I was told this was the first Gorean "legal" gambling locale.)
