From: Markubis Brentano Do you say:
"The 5th of June"?
or do you say:
"June 5th"
One of them is more efficient then the other. Efficient? I say 5th of June actually. Do you say, "the lap time was 22.3 seconds 2 minutes?" Or perhaps someones height is 4inches, 5 feet? Or that bear will cost you 16 cents and 7dollars.

Maybe even Governor Linden is not a real person but just an alt that various Linden Lab employees use for maintenance tasks in SL?
Nah... this is impossible...

It appears I managed to start a "Friday" thread very early in the week. If this becomes a forum meme, I'm never going to live it down, am I?

I almost feel a newspaper coming on again maybe i should work on a new edition of the broadly offensive post and start the awards all over again err if i have time which i'm not sure I do and I think I lost my thinkpress in one of those buggy times where things would just disappear and is perhaps linked to the [very important announcment] we shall hear about. (maybe they found my think press and everyone elses stuff somewhere in a pit ..)

One of them is more efficient then the other. Both forms are almost equally common in my experience. But perhaps they are not as efficient as saying "The 5th of the 6th", or "5th 6th", and neither of those is as efficient as saying "5 6" .. or is that "6 5"?

Well, darn.
You guys have pretty effectively undermined my argument, with examples like Governor Linden and Magellan Linden.
Obviously, there are at least SOME times when making a special purpose avatar makes sense.
I still think these cases are different, though. Everyone KNOWS Magellan is an avatar...that is, the person behind him doesn't matter. It's Magellan himself we enjoy interacting with, him and his goofy explorations. Everyone knows "Governor Linden" is a construct too, and is probably accessed by many RL Linden employees.
Katt, on the other hand, was introduced to us as the new forum moderator. We (I at least) was looking forward to getting to know her as we had gotten to know Strife...as a person. It hasn't worked out that way. As a communicator, Katt has been most remarkably silent. Almost no forum posts, no blog announcements, no policy statements.
This non-communication would make sense if "Katt" was simply an account that several Lindens access in order to perform "communication" tasks. Or if it was an account that one overworked Linden was assigned to as a low priority additional duty.
Am I completely off base to feel deceived and slighted by this?

Am I completely off base to feel deceived and slighted by this? I'm sort of on the other side. Strife was one of us, so to speak, a resident. I've never met a Linden, and don't really care if I do or not. I expect them to run their service and any related parts in an efficient manner. If this can board can be moderated effectively without much visibility from The Providers, all the better. I would agree that a "Comjmunity Kat" could cause inconsistencies in policy, but beyond that, it's no big deal for. As far as communications......QED.

From: Bodhisatva Paperclip KATT is actually an acronym.... K.I.T.T = Knight Industries Two Thousand K.A.R.R. = Knight Automated Roving Robot (from the old 'Knight Rider' TV series) So... K.A.T.T would be...?

Am I completely off base to feel deceived and slighted by this? I do agree that regardless of the situation between Dusty and Katt, Katt should have better communication with the forumites that she so valiantly promised (Essentially) things to. However, Katt Linden has a born date before Dusty I thought? So maybe Katt was the 'newbie' version, and then Dusty is the alt account thingy. Also, perhaps LL has given Katt more duties (Via Dusty) that they didn't anticipate would be too much, and now Katt hasn't kept up the commo because she's swamped with doing the work for both? Iono. But my stomach hurts >.<

Am I completely off base to feel deceived and slighted by this? I don't know that I believe that, yet. If it were true, Then LL would be guilty of some very gross misrepresentation, as Katt talked of her past experience with SL, etc, clearly giving the impression that she was in fact an actual person. But, her infrequent appearances are to say the least, odd. She simply could be very busy in the Real World, or jumping around to multiple alts (maybe she is Everett too ). But were she just a construct accessed by random Lindens, i would feel very deceived if that ever came to light.

If you really want to see how well the Glasses can work watch the TV series "The Tick" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw_9QXBIYO4&feature=relatedThere's an episode I can't find on youtube where one of the other heroes keeps taking his glasses on and off so he changes identities.
