Well, I have a bad flu today, so I really didnt feel like working on anything in-world, so I went profile shopping. Just browsing profiles, something I dont normally do. Anyhoo, I stumbled across A LOT of profiles that are like, "so & so is my brother, sister, husband, wife, etc. If you mess with them, I'll F*ck you up, or, mess with them you mess with me." I really cant see a grown person writing this. I mean, honestly, what are they going to do, pixel me to death? If they are so bad ass, then join the Hell's Angels and get in a REAL fight, then I might respect you, but to threaten people in a virtual world, makes me virtually laugh and want to virtually push you in a virtual mudpuddle. So, my question is, how many badasses does it take to screw in a light bulb?

I've been on the net since day one and have always hated Virtual Families from the days of IRC through MMO's into virtual worlds like SL. Sisters and mommy’s and Bro's, its all bollocks. I think these people are lonely friendless agoraphobics in RL and they flock together online like flies to shit, form little cliques and groups then completely ostracize anyone outside that group to the point of ganging up on anyone who dares to ‘dis’ one of their brood.

I guess this is the first time I've experienced it. I never saw it in WOW, we just kicked everyone's ass. But, yes, virtual families! That's it. Well, I have a SL "sis", we're close like RL sisters, but I really couldnt picture myself saying on my profile that IM gonna kick someones ass if they mess with her. Hell, I might pay someone to do it..lol But, you tell me, what are they going to do to you? How do they gang up on you? Virtual Mudslinging? Im shaking in my boots! _____________________

I never got it.. but live and let live I say...
I had an issue at my club one time with a "girl" starting stuff (shooting verbal abusing a live musician) and bringing her family to kick my a$$ after I orbited her out... LOL. what happened? the aunt came and said she was 13! and I suspected the rest of them (about 15 in all) were 19 or under as well, including the RL aunt! AR'd, 70% of them after a freeze and then ban... the Aunts land went away a month later (was a sim over, as well as the tacky strip club in tecno color day glow...) some may speak like that and are adults (I am sure many depending on where and how they are in RL), but if you have kids like I do and read their and their friends my space and Teen SL stuff... that's all it is, over and over and the best part? they change day to day ROFL _____________________

The terms "Brother" and "Sister" are used for several things. I use them in the Creative Cyan Magic Marker Cult, referring to each other as brother or sister.
But we do it to make fun of it! We all have a great sense of humor, this always carry over well in the group. On the whole "I will beat / shoot / kill you if you mess with X or Y" laugh and shrug it off. Some of the people are /Decent/ but finding them is hard. Why don't these people ever manage to cross me? Srsly, I'd LOVE to play with the tough guys but somehow I always seem to miss them.
Closest I've ever got was some small police RP group that tried to "arrest" me for speeding on the roads they set up on Sandbox Island. After blocking the intersection with partyvans and escaping from their failcage 4 times simply by sitting on it they left embarrassed as hell. Best 15 minutes I spent in SL that month. |
