I've seen other people do it with good results, and so now I am about to do it myself.
I am looking for some good music urls to pipe into the sim where my store is and also one for my island home. I have scrounged around on line with no results, and now I am throwing myself on the mercy of the forum.
Anyone have any good ones? I'd prefer some classic rock and today's music types...no country or hip hop need apply.

http://shoutcast.com Install iTunes and make it your default player. Find a station on shoutcast you like and click the LISTEN button. iTunes will open the stream. Then right click the radio station line in iTunes and choose GET INFO. Then click EDIT URL and copy the URL shown. Paste the URL into your land to make sure it will work in SL. Once you hear it play in your land then add it to the contents of your SL radio. Raster Teazle makes a two prim radio that you can add users and URLS to. .

Well there u go.. you have come up with your own solution. If it is not too much trouble I would suggest you use the handy search feature above since this question has been posed previously and other members have taken the time to compound huge lists and post them here - be sure and do the same with yours when you compile it...

From: PennyWhistle Cameron Oh my God, that is waaaaay too much trouble. There is no way in hell, as busy as I am, and with the interuptions I get, I will do that.
I just need a place that offers up some urls...I don't want to record and broadcast my own or anything.
Hell's bells, before I would do all that, I'll go around from sim to sim listening to music and copying down the urls. Read Lias's post again. She was actually offering you a way to find existing streams you like and identify their URLs. She was not suggesting that you create your own streams, though you can also do that with Shoutcast. This is probably also "waaaaaaay too much trouble," but I suggest searching these forums for "music streams" and similar terms, because vast lists of stream URLs, as well as other resources for finding them have been posted here many times before.

From: Kenbro Utu O_o I guess your busy is obviously way more important than our busy... Hey, she asked a question and in response was offered three different resources for finding what she was looking for. I think that's a terrific reason to be rude and bitchy, don't you?

From: PennyWhistle Cameron It's really too damned bad I asked a question that's already been asked. I was under the assumption that urls go bad quite often and old links might not be valid...no?
And thanks for those who could be arsed to answer, and those of you who are so damned busy and so damned important...well...bite me. Let me get this straight. You are way too busy to follow Lia's excellent advice. But if we are to busy to drop everything and give you the url you want we are to be blasted? How would we even know what music stream you like? You have to listen to various stations yourself and choose which one you want. And the easiest way to hear samples of what is out there is to do what Lia suggested. Shoutcast has the best list of urls for streaming music. And the way to find the URL you need for SL. iTunes is the best way to see what each one sounds like.

I'm sorry folks, I don't usually belabor these things, but this is too good not to share. Ms. Cameron, who is above all of this "tiresome and passe" banter in the forums, apparently can't resist the lure of IMs, as we just had this lovely exchange: [20:42] PennyWhistle Cameron: Rude and bitchy? [My response, via email, since I was not in world when hers arrived:] I thought this banter was "tiresome and passe" - why on earth are you IMing me? But, yes - in that thread you came across as rude and bitchy. You got a lot of help on that thread, you got directed to all kinds of resources that would provide exactly what you were looking for, and all you did was whine about how it would take too much of your precious time to use those resources. And here you are IMing me after saying "bite me" publicly and complaining that the conversation was "tiresome and passe". You're a trip. [21:09] PennyWhistle Cameron: And you're a twat. [21:09] PennyWhistle Cameron: and muted. Gotta love someone who sends an unsolicited IM and then mutes you for responding to it! That's what I get for trying to help.

From: PennyWhistle Cameron I don't think I asked any of you specifically to post here? Did I? Did I call on any of you to offer me anything? Feel free not to post...its not like I give a rat's ass. I thanked those who were helpful and dismissed those who seem to want to direct the forums. I really don't need direction...just some links. And anyone who wants to put me in a time out, give it a go...I dont' think you'll fare well at it. I asked a simple question of those that WANTED to answer...last time I checked it wasn't mandatory. God knows I read enough threads and don't feel compelled to respond. Some I do, but I have this power to change. I asked a question and someone came along and acted like an asshole...when I am talked down to by an asshole, I respond like an asshole. I've belonged to internet forums before, and grew really tired of them long ago, mostly for reasons like this, and oddly enough I was in your position last time around, I just don't care so much anymore, and am not really here to banter back and forth with the Bitch Brigade...its tiresome, and its so passe. Hahaha. You win Herzog's special prize for being todays's Most Up Themselves They Are Practically Inside Out poster. Congratulations!

OR- if you're not an iTunes person:
WinAmp > Media Library > Shoutcast Radio
Find a station you like, play it.
Right Click on Station, then ALT+3 or just 'View File Info'.
Copy the URL, paste it into the Media tab in SL.
Took me about 1 minute to find one I like and have it playing in-world.

Why are you still bothering with this invidividual, Tod? Sometimes I think people post these things just in order to troll and spew bile in some bizarre attempt to work off some frustrations. Perhaps, like certain members of the BDSM contingency, they get off on being chastized for their bad manners. I can't believe anyone would speak to Madhu like that; but clearly SOMEONE's just taken a swift kick to their karma. The OP got tired of other Internet forums? I daresay THEY got tired of HER and preferred her to move along elsewhere. Add me to that list. B. Chartered member of the Bitch Brigade

URL's are switched every so often yes, but you really don't have another option. My complaint is that most Shoutcast is an 8 hour tape played 3x a day, if you are inworld a lot that is enough to drive one crazy.

Feel free not to post...its not like I give a rat's ass..... Um...excuse me? Didn't you start this thread? Didn't you ask for help? /me checks back to make sure... Yep, you did. So yes, you DID ask us to post here, and you DID call on us to offer you assistance. When we did, it was just toooo much trouble to actually read and take any of the advice offered. Would you like me to come by your store, give you a free internet radio, and spend an hour doing a stream search and going through maybe 1500 choices to set up a menu of favorites you like? I'll be real happy to do all that...NOT. You are absolutely amazing...the first person to make it to my Ignore list on the very first meeting. Congratulations.
