Hmmm. I am 41. I am into BDSM both RL and SL. Poseball hopping is of no interest whatsoever. The contents of someone's mind, how they can dance and interact with my mind - because sex is mostly in the mind after all.

People on my wavelength, sexually speaking, are not always easy to find in everyday life and I think this goes for a lot of us who are "indecent" and make an artform of it. Like Winter, probably

Running round on poseballs is for noobs, perhaps. I've been in SL a while, I think the novelty of that wore off within about 15 minutes on the first day.

For avatars like mine, sex is already banned. But, many of the people I know in SL are active. So, while I'm not currently laying down with every avatar I see, I still think I would be losing something if it were removed.

I'm in SL for the crowd. And the crowd is made of of many - many people from all over the world with tastes and fetishes to no end. I know people that WILL leave if it ever happens and it would strongly affect my SL experience to see them gone. (=_=)

Me personally? Sex stuff dun enter into my Second Life But really, why worry about it? Some people enjoy their pixel sex, and far be it f'r me to tell 'em no.

Leaving aside the questions whether SL could survive the banning of sex bits and poseballs, and why SL would do such a thing as ban sexual items, I'd have to answer yes, I would still use SL, and in fact my second life would not change in any noticeable way (except for the noticeable absence of all the people who answer "no" ).

For me it's all about friendship. I've met so many wonderful and interesting people.

These kind of questions always give me the creeps … although about 80% of my life isn’t sex why should I agree that someone would castrate my other 20% only because of some pretense Puritanism thoughts? Then after banning sex what should they ban next? Everyone that have too high avatars? Or maybe the ones that don’t use the right skin tone? History teach us that some racist movements started with some small bans… isn’t this second life?? If in my first life I have sex why shouldn’t I have it also on may second life? Up to a point I'd agree, in that poseballs by themselves are of little real interest. But I and my partner use them in effect as part of foreplay. Just as dancing in SL is more fun than simply listening to music together, sexual or romantic poseballs can be more fun than simply talking about it. The AVs play out what we would do if we were together in RL, they certainly add something to sexual roleplay that wouldn't be there if we were simply typing in a chatroom or talking on skype, but there always comes a point where we abandon the AVs, and what happens happens directly between our RL selves, whether by typing or speaking or whatever.

But if the poseballs and overtly adult content was taken out of SL would we still be here? Yes, because we do much more than that, much of it completely PG, and in any case, we don't need the poseballs to have a relationship in SL, they are just useful in some ways. If they found a way to stop using IM or chat for sexual purposes, maybe we would go somewhere else, but since that is impossible, it's not really something I'm bothered about.

In a social world, nobody can get rid of sexuality and the behaviours that it prompts.

Sometimes/mostly the SL props are a complete distraction from the imagination and thoughts being texted or voiced.
Chatty attachments must the most unimaginative creations is SL.

Without some very advanced real-time puppeteering, a visual virtual world must tend towards couples watching porn together rather than giving of themselves to each other.


IF "sex" were removed from SL we could have a farcical situation in which
- "normal" sex is hidden away with black-market poseballs renamed to things like "tango" and "slowdance". Fraudsters would make fortunes selling rubbish.
- "kinky" - the type that would offend the righteous - would be home free if it concentrated on the RP and power play of D/S, or if SM became a type of combat RP with predictable winners and losers.

There's a bigger picture than just the sex poseballs though, clubs, dances, animations, clothing, land rentals, furniture, homes can all be related to sex. So banning sex poseballs could lead to a decline in many other areas that aren't directly related to it.

Hi fellow SLers, When I joined Sl back in October 2007, the sex part of SL i was addicted to for some months! I have now moved on, and enjoying albeit hard work and £ into bussiness like the airtours!

But as a recent television report suggested a few months ago nearly 70% of all money earnt is in the sex part of SL. People would be hit hard, like Xcite and and other genatalia makers. let alone the bed makers the hot tub makers, and the pose balls...

Also the clothes we wear, apart from a few items like uniforms are meant to make us look sexy, all these creaters would be out of a job, who would wear see thro and revealing clothes if u had no boobs or clit for punters to enjoy, most tips come from SL girl/guys who appreciate and are able to interact, even if only to touch a genital in a flirtatious way. and and we would be wearing clothes that look like everybody else! To many people, who perhaps dont want to buy L$ on the market or add a bank account, being a dancer/escort or for guys security, and male escorting, plus the camping, is there only means of earning....L$

But I still enjoy having the genitals, and if you have been in SL quite a long time, even like me 7 months or so, if you never had them anymore, you wouldnt feel right, because your avater IS you, u moulded it, perhaps with new skin, a new hairstyle, and perhaps a new experience having inter active sex, which in RL your probably wouldnt do...even trying lezzie or gay sex out of curiosity!!!

I feel that SL would collapse financially within weeks if sex were taken out.. all the clubs would close up, land would be empty, land owners would get no tiers, and that would be the end of SL. Im opening a cinema that i have been building, i have everything ready inc widescreen, posh curtains the top end flip up seats, the web site set up fees for streaming mp4s I would stand to lose 112,000L in one go if it were not allowed.....

So my answer would be no, i wouldnt use SL if sex wasnt in it. But i would stay if they allowed normal sex, (not the animals/dogs.bdsm toilet stuff) they are obscene in my view anyway and they should be removed anyway, but hetero lezzie & gay sex with the normal sextoys should stay....But where u draw the line? Theres many many mistreses and subs, I have a sub SL g/f myself, who for them bdsm is there way of life, sometimes in world sometimes in Rl too, they would leave, as there needs wouldnt be met, I can understand a lot of SLers dont like the sex part at all, buts its merry go round world, take an important part of the cog out, and the merry go round grinds to a halt.

I think sex in SL is an important part of growing up here. Kinda like going through SLuberty. I think for some people in the gay community it goes something like this:

Day 1: OMG. I can be young and muscular with 50" wide shoulders and no hips! I can fly like Peter Pan!
