Can that be Phillip's underpants???

At the opening speech today, Phillip Linden was wearing a rather unusual choice of clothing. He had on a pair of crotchless chaps, styled like jeans, and under that was either an avatar skin or an undergarment covered with colorful hexagons.

But...

Is that a new avatar mesh? The current UV mapping would make a smeared mess of those colorful hexagons and lines. Is Phillip flashing us with avatar mesh 2.0?

Nahh, you read way too much into what might be coming... instead it's the new PG package design for newbies.

An astute observation, Ceera. Perhaps it was a meticulously-designed crazy-mess-of-hexagons texture intended to compensate for av stretching? (Because it was so worth it.)

Isn't that just the classic sequined codpiece that he always has? Do you have any old picture's of Phillip's crotch for comparison?

Clearly, Philip is an experienced user of SL and not a noob despite the skin and hair. A noob would be wearing no underpants and displaying a badly built and textured "attachment" that didn't remotely match....:p

Cue more "matching" jokes in 5...4...3...2....1

If there was anything involving a new avatar mesh, wouldn't you need a new viewer to see it?

It's just a Philip thing to do... He wore that exact same outfit in RL one year to a Convention. : D He was his Avatar, and his av hasn't changed in for maybe even 5 years.

It only changes when he logs in and it's Ruthed!

*sigh* And we wonder why SL's been getting a bad rap..

Uh Oh..who knows what he'll get into next......Coke always does lead to harder stuff...Fresca maybe? Or possibly Mike's Hard lemonade?

OK. Guess I was wrong then. I doubt I had ever seen Phillip's avatar before that video, myself.

Oh well, a designer can dream, and a better mesh sure would be nice.

He hasn't changed clothes in *at least* two years if not twice as long, apparently. Those clothes must be able to stand up and walk by themselves.

Look on the bright side: it gave you a reason to zoom in on Philip's crotch for something other than to try and figure out if he opted for "duffle bag" or "coin purse."

I can't believe you've been in SL since 2005 and have never before encountered the Codpiece of Sequins. Someone even made him a real life one which he wore to the 2005 SLCC in New York. :D

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Anyone able to provide a link to a picture of Mr. Rosedale in his real life sequined codpiece pants?
