You've misunderstood me again sweetie. LOL.

I know many many people of an artistic persuasion, one way or another, who partake. I don't smoke, which leaves eating it which whilst that can be fun it also can be hard to judge how long it will last. And the last thing I need is munchies, when I am being so very good!

Again? I love that...anyway, moving right along.

Sorry, but the quote you quoted isn't geared for you...it was a generalization. Seems the misunderstanding lives in another home. I'm just having fun...cheers.

:)

To the first question: Yes. Marijuana is illegal on a federal, not state, level, and therefore applies to native reservations.

To the second statement... what? Gee, I must be hanging out with a completely different crowd.

I agree that it should be made legal, but until then it still IS illegal. Every company that I've worked for requires drug screening tests; I can't even imagine having it around. Last time I touched it was when I was, what, 18? I know I'm being narrow-minded here, but illegal=illegal=shouldn't have it/use it/etc. Sorry gang. I can't help it. *shrug*

lol.

I've been working in offices for many many years, full time. In all realms of business. I've never been tested. Who are you working for?

OK...so, it's illegal. Right. You don't do anything illegal, ever. Check. Got it. Next. :)

Also, who am I hanging out with? I tend to live in University towns...and I'm an actor...so...thinkers, intellectuals, film makers, photographers, actors...

Responsible, educated, artists and entertainers...my kind of crowd. And most of them smoke pot from time to time.

Why get drunk or high just to sit at your computer? :|

'Cause computers are fuckin' cool!

I especially like 'Second Life.'

I haven't smoked weed in over a year, because I'm poor and afraid of police. But when marijuana and I reunite and combine with Second Life, I expect the most awesome creative experience ever :D

In all seriousness to the OP - the problem is the interface.

SL certainly has a lot of 'trippy' posibilities if you're into that sort of thing, but the keyboard/monitor interface ruins it all, and simply makes you look like an idiot to the other people you're chatting with. Ever chatted with someone who's drunk in RL? Point made ;)

Now, if we could don VR Glasses with motion sensors & experience SL, that'd be a completely different animal. Controlled substances wouldn't even be neccesary :)

In real life I would die of neglect. If you could put on a sensor suit, motion glasses, etc. I think SL would be so immersive that I might forget to leave and eventually they would find my dehydrated, starved corpse lying in front of a computer. Might as well make the sensor suit double as a body bag so they could just zip me up and haul me out.

I agree on chatting with someone who is drunk. I've had a few drinks before while on SL, but more than that and I'm just slow and unintelligible in chat. It's awful. Maybe I should try voice.

I don't drink, once or twice a yr? Can deal w/ most drinkers, even have speeder freak friends, never a boring moment!
But having been smoke till I sleep high,
it's just like head phns on or inet deprivation chamber immersed.

Caffeine/Red Bull/coffee are essential to marathon work in SL.

For me alcohol and SL mix for the first hour and then it quickly turns into something bad. I don't drink much so it's not a problem.

Sl is great with weed and I have tested this extensively. If you happen to be working on very boring things that require lots of testing, weed helps with boredom.

Once experimented with speed and SL. I lost interest very quickly and moved on to biting my nails and channel surfing. As someone said earlier, the environment can’t keep up with your expectation.

I have not tripped in a very long time but I imagine a good dose of LSD and SL could be something very special.

I must be narrow minded too, then. Most people I know have tried it yes, but don't any more. Some for health reasons, some because it never turned them on, some because it IS still illegal. That's the major reason I never tried any illegal drugs. They're illegal.

While your substance-use habits are your own business, too many people have the idea that cannabis use is harmless. Just because it's less harmful than some legal drugs like alcohol & nicotine, doesn't mean it's totally safe. There's increasing evidence that long-term, heavy use can be dangerous to physical and mental health.

Obviously, long term, heavy 'usage' of almost anything - from chocolate cake to computer games - can damage your body and/or mind. Cannabis is probably pretty safe, especially in limited use and certain methods of delivery (ingesting or vaporising rather than smoking). I was just getting an impression of a blase attitude to some of the issues from some posts here.

If anyone wants to read it, there's a rather dry but informative medical paper here:

http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/references/journal/1998_hall_lancet_1/1998_hall_lancet_1.pdf

I'm sure there's a stack of evidence each way if you want to look, but it reads as a pretty balanced view with no 'reefer madness' attitude. I could throw in a few tales of personal experience too, but they'd just be anecdote, not data.

My two-penn'rth, do with it what you will.

It is increasingly common, at least in the United States, and more so these days here in the United Kingdom. I have certainly been in positions where I have discovered that some applicants were required to take drug tests. I have not been asked to take one myself, which is a good thing, as I would decline and not take said job at all; my bloodstream is my own affair.

After knee surgery not too long ago and under the influence of pain medication, I logged onto SL while sitting beside my balcony. I looked outside and saw a bright, white UFO headed straight for me. It was the moon. Scared the heck out of me tho and I sat there for 15 minutes not even realizing I was still logged in and I couldn't figure out where the strange ocean wave noises were coming from.

For about a year, I worked for a company which was basically a website. One of the owners was conducting a sales meeting, and trying to boost morale, since subscriptions to the website were just not coming in the way we wanted. (it was state news and legislation before any dirty minds get to work....lol) He told us how he had worked for IBM and didn't have a sale for 6 months, and how down and depressed that made him. We asked him how he handled that. He answered our question but told us first that it never left the room. On a day that he was particularly down, he went home and smoked a joint. (we all, of course, burst out laughing)
He said that it helped because it removed him from his emotions enough to allow him to consider his options without being clouded by the emotion. The ironic part was this was our employer telling us this!....lol
I'm not advocating drug use, but I'm a cigarette smoker in RL. Yes, marijuana is not necessarily "good" for you, but I can tell you that my addiction to cigarettes is much worse and harder to beat. Pot is illegel...shouldn't be, but that's a different issue. Heck, I drive 5-10 miles over the speed limit most days, too, and sometimes it's just to keep up with the traffic. That's illegal also, and I'm probably more in danger of being arrested for that than I ever was when I was a regular pot smoker. I'm older now, and those things don't hold as much appeal....but every now and then, I do still indulge. Harder drugs, though....a definite "no no" in my eyes.

I think people are wrong when they separate pot and alcohol from other drugs.

I've seen many homes and lives devastated by alcohol use. Plenty of lives lost, that's for sure.

I can't say that I've seen lives lost from excessive pot use but I definitely have seen lives destroyed. I've seen people allow their lives rot around them and probably in some ways they've shortened their lives. Who knows. Definitely reduced the quality of it that's for sure.

I'm not on a soap box here. I think most drugs should be legalized. I just think people kid themselves when they guzzle beers or smoke their joints and think they are any better.

This was NOT in any way directed at you Sunni.

a drug is anything that is mind altering, or "state" altering. that even includes cigarettes, in my book.

drugs is bad. per Nan Reagan, just say no.

People, people.

To some, Second Life *IS* a drug. There is already published scientific literature on the incidence of MMORPG addiction among high school and university students in China, Taiwan, and South Korea (possibly the most wired country on earth). But this sort of thing is happening all over, and for some reason MMORPGs like WoW and SL are among the most addictive games.

But to answer the question: SL and coffee go together like bread and butter :-)

I'm permanently high on caffeine through the copious amounts of tea I drink....noe ffect at all! ;)

I can't have alcohol wile at the computer, it just irritates me (I don't rink much anyhow, maybe a glass of wine, or beer, or, if I feel like it, a glass of one of my fave single malts, but that's maybe once a month....haven't had a single malt for a year now I think.

When I was younger, I sometimes smoked pot while with friends, and that made for many great conversations. But I don't need it or a good chat, and I haven't had any for, like, ten years now. We don't have drugs tests yet where I work (university, i.e. technically speaking for the state), but I'd get kicked if I ever did anything illegal. I'm not even allowed to take a chocolate bar as a gift from students anyway....
Every drug done habitually is bad, and alcohol is much worse in that respect than pot. My grandad died an alcoholic (he was a POW and ever since then he drank).

Although it would be a nice experiment, SL and a little pot....I don't smoke ciggies, I can't stand them, but I do smoke shisha (waterpipe), and that is relaxing (I'm having one right now)

But if you are softly drunk or mildly high does it actually make the fantasy world better?.

That would be a yes for me!

I find that being roaring drunk is the best way to play SL not to mention posting in these forums.

I normally don't drink (One or two Glasses of wine a Year is my normal intake). I suppose i'm what could be called a "Cheap date" because Two glasses of red wine will have an Effect on me. Twice i've logged in when i could only be described as "Plastered" (Once after a Christmas party, and once after getting some terribly Upsetting news) and i have to say No,, it did absolutely Nothing to "Enhance" my experiences. The first time i was happy enough at first, But got offended at someone comment, and became Beligerant, Then very very upset afterwards at my own behaviour. The second time all it did was "Enhance' my Misery, Luckily, people on line who Love me told me to Log off, and go to bed (After that Incident, i haven't touched a drop). For me it was an Embarassing, and (Pun Intened) Sobering experience.

Any "Enhancement" you might feel as a result of chemical assistance is Just an illusion. there is nothing posative about your behaviour as far as other people are concerned, to them you are just being at best, Tiresome.

Hehe. And as a word of caution, never EVER decide to adjust shape, hair or anything like that when you've had one glass of wine too many.

ROFLMAO!!!

I know this TOO well!

In My Experience: Never try to sculpt in RL with sharp sculpting tools after several drinks. You'll bleed.......ALOT. And that human head sculpture ends up looking like The Elphant Man. :p

Copious amounts of marijuana is the only way I get through SL. I can't imagine saying Yes Mistress or watching newbie free sex porn while sober.

Drugs are for total losers

However a bottled cold beer is the choice when seducing a lady of relaxed morals.

But I did knock it over with a stiffie once, so watch how you go!

Do soft drugs enhance the SL experience? I would think it would cause major brain cell lag...I have hard enough time doing things in SL clean and sober sometimes. I don't think whatever drugs would make SL more enjoyable. Unless you were into doing weed, listening to music and visiting escorts or it made you feel more creative. I just see stoned people having bad trips when the prims rezzed in wrong places and not being able to find stuff......doing stupid stuff, personally not my idea of good time personally.
