Do soft drugs enhance the SL experience?

Of course, I am ONLY talking about drug use within the the legal framework of the respective countries people live in or visit. I take it as axiomatic that any answers to this thread would not advocate anything illegal. But if you are softly drunk or mildly high does it actually make the fantasy world better? (Including other mood influencers - caffeine, lettuce, etc). Sometimes I have the slight impression that some avs know the answer to this question.

drug (soft or not) never enhance anything. They make you fell enhanced, but you're really not

Im afraid I wouldn't have a clue Hal to be honest.
I have never done drugs.
I don't drink at home except on special ocassions and never on my own.
I am pure and innocent .....sort of. lol.

@Ollj Oh: it's because you still use the old scotch 1.02: there is an update with a lot of bug fixes: scotch 1.03 causing less server crashes. And if you want there is also a scotch 1.413 release candidate, but I was told of some liver issues. Maybe the best is to try the new scotch mindlight 1.387: really nice effects, but it's still a beta and there is a heavy memory leak

simple answer... yes, drugs enahnce every experience, just maybe not in the way you wanted or intended...

I find SL much easier to deal with after copious amounts of Caffiene and Nicotine (anti-psychotics and pain killers I save for my trips into the forums)

LOL. I laugh because my shoe has been up my ass all week along with countless other objects. I wouldn't be surprised to find a milkshake up there as well.

Oh and I am substance free,so I have no idea if it enhances SL. I'd imagine it would though.

Substance & SL Review

SL & Caffeine:
As caffeine is one of the 4 basic food groups in life, it naturally improves any activity. (Aside from sleeping)

SL & Alcohol:
Works in moderation. Preferred activities: late night talks & discussions. Romantic endeavours.
Main risk: keyboard prints on forehead after waking up.
General warning: Don't drink and fly.

SL & Weed:
Mostly depends on the activity. Generally reduces lag. (Or more to the point, better syncs up with your RL lag).
Seems to be the drug of choice within SL. Use in social environments, but not clubs. Preferred SL activities are: sitting round a campfire and drum circles.
Weed & building is possible, but only when the goals are non-commercially oriented. (Do not present weed enhanced buildings to the public, before having a good look at them in a non-weed state. They generally turn out not to be the 'greatest thing you ever created'.)
Weed icw scripting is ill advised.

SL & Speed:
The enhancements of Speed & SL is primarily depending on the quality of your hardware.. The instability of SL and lag pockets will cause a high feeling of anxiety and frustration. Only use speed in SL if you have a stable high performance computer.

SL & Acid:
Only experience SL on acid if you're an experienced user of both. SL and acid have a mutually enhancing effect. As an example: Acid will let you experience that huge spider you're talking to, to look like a small squirrel (or vice versa).

SL & Sleeping pills:
Sleeping pills are the drug of choice for professional campers. They have no virtue to speak of in any other SL related situation though.

I find Flintstone Vitamins to be a potent mix with SL!

contexts such as, do soft drugs enhance
dancing, painting, hiking in the woods
or going to Disneyland?

They can and do for me. =)

But w/o "enhancements" the SL "experience"
is no less enjoyable. Further, you could be
high but not having a good time in SL
or having a great time and not high.

I'm sure there are many who engage in SL as they
do other forms of creative endeavor, entertainment,
and education, and that is, under some form of
altered consciousness.

Be that caffeine, soft/hard drugs, alcohol, nicotine, sugar
(definitionally acts like a drug), prescription medicine,
psych meds, lack of sleep, being in pain etc...

RE: shoes in places even the virtual sun doesn't shine
this seems to have been fixed by the nicholaz client (along with the literal head up your bum syndrome... sadly no fix is forthcoming on the figurative version of this problem)

Ive recently started having 1 12oz. beer in the evenings. This helps me unwind by bedtime. There have been occasions ill have an additional beer on weekends and maybe half a xanax to assure that Im out by 2am.
I think that Second Life is the drug of choice for most all of us reading this post. Its highly addictive and though many of you state you ‘don’t do drugs’….try giving up SL.

Depending on where you are, what youre doing and who youre talking to.....drug use of any kind is not only desirable but in some cases mandatory.....or who youre doing and what youre talking to if its a particularly potent variety.

I was going to post a reply here, but I'm a little stoned this morning and lost my train of thought.

I smoke marijuana on a fairly frequent basis--I find being 'high' greatly increased the 'fun factor' of many games. I prefer to be high when I work on design, play games, build in 3d...I'm much more immersed when I'm high.

Personally, I think pot should be legal, there is no reason it shouldn't be. Considering the legal stuff out there that is much worse...anti-pot people don't have a leg to stand on.

It might enhance YOUR experience, but not necessarily others'. I've had encounters with friends who are drunk in RL while running SL. They're just as obnoxious as any RL drunk is, when you yourself are sober.

[EDIT: In case any of you Cartel folks are thinking "she means me", I don't. If you were drunk when I was around, I either didn't notice, or you were a very happy drunk. In either case, you don't fall into the above group.]

/me wonders how many people could actually afford an island if they stopped smoking

If I stopped smoking and bought an island instead it would cost me approx $344 US more a year, so I guess until I buy an island I can smoke more!
