Why get drunk or high just to sit at your computer? :|

For me- Cuz its safe! I'd rather be home & drunk than out driving around & Drunk. It's cheaper too.

Besides, I hate bars.

The other night I had "a bit to many" drinks and decided for some reason I would look great with cat ears!!!!
Drunken search ensues.....ears are purchased and worn......
Signing in the next day and having my stupid ears on like an after party idiot.....priceless.

Hehe. And as a word of caution, never EVER decide to adjust shape, hair or anything like that when you've had one glass of wine too many.

Of course, you're only going to make the tiniest tweak, so there really isn't any *hic* need to bother making a back-up copy. Nah. Sod that. So yes, that one prim that hangs in front of your eye. Damn irritating. Just move it a little bit to the... oops grabbed the wrong handle. Hang on where's it gone? Oh no it's OK sort that later but right now that fringe needs filling out a bit and... *burp* oh bugger how's that get there..?

So you log on the next day with your ponytail hanging from your nose and your fringe dangling about six inches beneath your left ear. Oh and of course, you just HAD to tweak your bum size too didn't you? *EEEEEEEEEEK*

Forming a judgment about someone based on their marijuana habits is the same as forming a judgment based on any other 'recreational' chemical. The only difference is, is that marijuana is currently illegal. But let's be honest, personal recreation is far from criminal...I don't sell, I'm not a burn-out...I just enjoy it on a personal level.

I can have plenty of fun sober too...however, being 'high' brings the individuals mental-state to a different plane...this plane is pleasant and singular.

Judge by character and action...not by the chemicals someone puts into their body.

As long as I'm not pushing chemicals on other people...it is a truly victimless crime. Would you judge an American Indian for their use of marijuana?

Anyway...it's relatively harmless. And to be honest, in my experience, more people smoke it than do not.

You've misunderstood me again sweetie. LOL.

I know many many people of an artistic persuasion, one way or another, who partake. I don't smoke, which leaves eating it which whilst that can be fun it also can be hard to judge how long it will last. And the last thing I need is munchies, when I am being so very good!

To the first question: Yes. Marijuana is illegal on a federal, not state, level, and therefore applies to native reservations.

To the second statement... what? Gee, I must be hanging out with a completely different crowd.

I agree that it should be made legal, but until then it still IS illegal. Every company that I've worked for requires drug screening tests; I can't even imagine having it around. Last time I touched it was when I was, what, 18? I know I'm being narrow-minded here, but illegal=illegal=shouldn't have it/use it/etc. Sorry gang. I can't help it. *shrug*

Well think of the drugs that make you think you can fly off a building, or the ones that make you peel your arm like an orange (yes both of these are true stories).

Too much reefer madness.
I have heard these stories but I believe they are urban myths. Long term effects of most stimulants cause sever depression so sure, someone will want to fly, but they know where they are going when they make that jump. Come on, Mary; Don't fear the reaper.

I grew up in a different era. If you want some good "don't drugs beacuse this might happen" stories I can tell you some I know from personal expierence. They are usually not as graphic but much more pathetic.

On the other hand, I have a couple of stories, like driving a car that had a broken speedometer and I swear I never heard the guy say "most people only take a half" just an hour before ...

i have seen first hand what drugs do to people ( I am talking the harder ones, not weed or caffeine etc). That is why I have never once been tempted to accept the offers. Not because of Urban Myths. I was just using those stories because they are slightly more 'lighter' than some. I don't like sharing my horror stories much.

Also, I tend to be a fraidycat when it comes to the law. I err on the side of caution more often than not. This is why i have never accepted the odd joint. Because it is illegal. Also as i don't smoke anyway i have a feeling i would just make a fool of myself lol. ;)

Well think of the drugs that make you think you can fly off a building, or the ones that make you peel your arm like an orange (yes both of these are true stories). They make you feel like all of a sudden you have a new superpower - i.e. enhancement - like flying or looking like an orange. But neither of these really are enhancements - you are still going to drop faster than a rock, and peeling your arm is sooo not gonna be good for you.
Yes I know these are the extreme end of the scale, but the point is still the same I think.

But I agree with a few people in this thread, I do believe that as long as you cause no harm to others you shouldn't be punished for anything.

Mood and state of mind are real. Thoughts influence reality and existence.

'Enhance' is a legitimate word when describing the way specific drugs 'make some one feel.' Tangible reality has nothing to do with 'mood' or 'feelings.' Does that make sense?

And for the record, pot by itself does NOT make you hallucinate--contrary to popular belief amongst the ignorant (and some movies and tv shows). It can be argued that pot is a mild hallucinogen...but let us be clear, you will not see things that are not there. You may feel things like 'sinking slightly through the floor'...but don't believe anyone that has 'visions' on marijuana...that's High School fibbing.

I have seen too many of my daughters friends kill themselves after they have gone bi-polar or manic depressant because they used drugs. That is one very sad side effect.
Most brains are messed up enough as it is, no need to make it worse. Just my opinion though, each to his own.

Even when I used to drink, not really. If I was in a bad mood/antisocial I was...if I was in a "party" mood then I just was.

OCCASIONALLY, if there was a big Live concert and I was a lil tipsy and so were other people in the crowd...everybody was likely to talk a lot more, so I guess you could call that "enhanced" *shrugs*

Do soft drugs enhance the SL experience?

Without incriminating myself, I'll simply answer an experienced 'No.' :D

I *do* strongly reccomend checking out 'Virtual Hallucinations' (if its still around), which was intended to be an in-world psychology experiment put on by UC Davis. Well worth the trip ;)

Having never tried anything stronger than a good single malt I can't say much about it except that if I have overindulged a bit, I get too fidgety to sit infront of the computer, or a fall asleep. I guess sometimes being asleep can be an improvement......

i like to have a quite drink while chatting and building, relaxes me.

but there was one (ok maybe more) time where i decided to get drunk on SL. i don't remember much of the night, when i woke up there was a crocodile in my swamp, i was half naked and up to my neck in quicksand. and for some reason there was a half assed attempt at a bench out the front of my bar. i also had alot of new friends on my list! never talked to them since. i should have asked what i had gotten upto the night befor.

anyway the croc's name is cranky named after way i was the next morning and i decided to keep the bench, after i fixed it up a little.

In all seriousness to the OP - the problem is the interface.

SL certainly has a lot of 'trippy' posibilities if you're into that sort of thing, but the keyboard/monitor interface ruins it all, and simply makes you look like an idiot to the other people you're chatting with. Ever chatted with someone who's drunk in RL? Point made ;)

Now, if we could don VR Glasses with motion sensors & experience SL, that'd be a completely different animal. Controlled substances wouldn't even be neccesary :)

You know what...on a side note: all you people that say, 'I don't usually agree with Michael, but on this point, blah blah...' ...you all can kiss my cold metal bootie.

I'm a highly intelligent guy, with good points, and a unique point of view. I'm not uninformed and ignorant...I don't see why so many of you disagree with my opinions or answers as often as you do (or claim to).

But...whatever. :)

I agreed with you! And that's rare! Honestly, Michael, if someone doesn't agree, it's really not that they're saying your uninformed or ignorant. I don't even think it's them saying you're wrong. It could be just that they're experiences are different, so their conclusions are different, that's all. Honestly, I don't normally agree with you...voice chat is one area where I'll never see eye to eye with you. It doesn't mean what you, or I, think is wrong.....just different. If it's not a proven fact when stated, it's an opinion. Nobody's opinion is wrong, per se, just different.
Hence the abbreviation YMMV. We've all had different life experiences, so our actions and reactions are different from each other's. Really, it's what makes the world go round. (well, other than money and love!) ;)

EDIT: Please don't take my post for aggravation or sarcasm, because there's none intended. I just don't want you to always feel that people are pointing fingers or calling you unintelligent or wrong. I truly don't think they are.

Ummm...I'm not just sitting there. I'm doing a ton of different things I enjoy. :) But now that you mention it...I can be high and just sit somewhere too--in fact, if I'm going to be 'just sitting somewhere' (say in a waiting room or something), I prefer to be high.

I know I know...:) I'm just saying...there's something wrong when it seems that almost everything I say is either 1)disliked, 2)disagreed with, 3)offended by, or 4)not interested in...this, oddly, is the only forum where no one really likes what I have to say. I find it unusual...that's all.

It's almost a fad to go against what I say...even if you agree, it's not cool to say you do. lol.

Well said Michael...

Oh and by the way, I say you today in SL, but didn't go up to say hi...too shy. You're actually the first person that I was in some way familiar with by name that I've just 'bumped into'... :D

Hmmm...today? Were you at the free mall vendor space thingie? I set up a vendor there today (6 prims...woo hoo). If I get one sale a month from that, I'll be happy. :)

Sorry if I didn't reply. Usually when I'm AFK I will put that little cartoon 'AFK' bubble over my head...sometimes I forget.

See, I'm at work. And I have to bounce back and forth a lot...I'm incognito.
