It means "fox", especially the red fox, vulpes vulpes. To say "spirit fox" you'd have to add more words, such as kyuubinokitsune (literally nine tailed fox, refers to a spirit), or another word all together, such as youko (more generic word, refers to monsters and demons). The error probably arose from the fact that in Japanese mythology, foxes take a role similar to wolves in European fairytales, in that they're always something other than the real animal, but the word used to label them is the same.
Any Japanese - English dictionary will tell you that, but too many folks just mimic what other people say without looking into it themselves. I'm a bit more tolerant of people in SL who use words to refer to a particular human animal hybrid or something (neko for example. Neko means "cat", any kind of cat) but the profiles that say "I am a kitsune (kitsune means fox spirit in Japanese)" make me cringe. |

well thanks for your comments, but when i lied and told this AV my marriage was over and i was divorcing. He suddenly found a new g/f and was gone, strange.
