Unremovable Bras and panties?

I went into a mature sim and was going to remove my pants to take a look at a pair of undies that I was working on and low and behold.. I had undies on that I couldn't remove! It was impossible to see MY work with that underneath. I could understand it if it was the Teen Grid, but it's not! It was a MATURE sim! As well as a horrible bra that just wouldn't go away. Checked my hubby's account and sure enough, bras and panties on his female form. Didn't check the male form. Is this a new trend?

Maybe a graphics error? Use the same PC?

The CCTWAADTFIADR (Citizen Check that we al are dressed to fit in a Disney Resort) have implement a new rule in SL... after that they did the agreement about a co -operation LL and Disney Company we will never be allowed to be naked more.. and guess what more to come..

If this is someone's actual bright idea for new feature as opposed to simple glitch then please don't bother with such a waste of coding time. Gonna take skin makers what, 5 mins to upload 'panties' and 'bra' (or even pants and shirts if these pieces of clothing are fixed) ... textured with image of a nude body, thus circumventing this whole protection like it never existed?

It sounds as though a corruption has 'burned' the panties onto your skin. I once had a pair of jeans that I couldn't remove.

Try going to your inventory and reloading your skin. If that doesn't work, it's going to mean a new skin, I'm afraid.

Upon reading this, I rushed immediately to both PG and Mature sims and promptly removed all my clothes. But low and behold, my bra and panties came off too.

Seriously: If, as Selador says, this is a case of inventory corruption, I wouldn't go buying expensive new skins for a few weeks yet. Something similar happened to both a friend and myself, and both problems fixed themselves after a couple of weeks. In my case, the head of a goth skin appeared everytime I wore a tanned one. Nothing would fix it. My friend ended up with a freebie Panache t-shirt (two fingered, "up yours" gesture) baked onto her skin.

First reaction would be to empty the cache and perhaps even reinstall SL. Other than that...wait...or summon help from LL.

It's usually a texture baking issue, clearing your cache and trying again usually works, changing your clothes in appearance rather than from inventory also helps in some cases.

Well, if it's just an inventory corruption, then why did it effect all my skins? And the skins in my husband's inventory as well?

And yes, I tried the cache clear and even a reinstall. Nothing worked. Hubby bug reported it on his account, since if it happened in Preview, where the money doesn't count, it might happen on the main. And now, I've seen one other posting about it, makes me wonder.

I'm glad to hear that is while it isn't exactly isolated, it isn't something that LL did on purpose. Although my first thought is that this would be great for the teen grid!

I don't recall ever seeing those underpants before either. I generally forget to wear any at all.

*noddles* They are the most hideously done underwear I have ever seen! What really sucks is that I'm working on a bra and pantie set and since right now, I'm still learning the bottom template vs avatar, I'm working the panties on the preview. (I'd really rather not spend 500L on trial and error.)

Ah, well. I just put a red tint on my undies. They stand out nicely now.

I hope this is just a bug and not a portent of the future. I'd be more than relieved if it was something as simple as the preview grid thinking we're all teens.

And no, my main grid account is just fine I can stand in my mature rated home in all my nakie glory!

They really are baked permanently onto the skin too. I just made some underpants with a transparent texture to see if the uglypants showed through...and they did. There's no way to conceal them. On the one hand I can see the benefit if underwear is forced in PG areas (no more naked newbies in welcome areas for example), on the other, I foresee lots of clothes becoming unwearable. Low-cut trousers are OUT for starters.

Badly made for 'official' underwear too. The alpha channel of the male underpants appears as though it was cut out with square masks, so the waist and leg seams appear angular instead of curved. And the resolution is incredibly low. They look semi-rezzed, but I'm confident they were fully rezzed.

This is the worst thing that could ever happen to Second Life.

I have bought a number of sheer tops lately, if I have to have my nipples covered it was money down the drain.

I have failed to be able to teleport to Mature sims twice in the past few minutes; these sims appeared to be included in the grid but it doesn't seem to want to let me go to them.

Perhaps they are testing some teen grid code or got something about it mixed up by mistake.

When I first installed it I did notice a messsage about "optimizing textures" .

I didn't mean transparent clothing to hide these... because yes, transparent clothing will just show what's beneath it i.e. the panties thing... but i was thinking instead, a fully opaque clothing with the nude skin drawn on it ^^

There's simply no way for such permanent drawing to get on top of skin prepared this wau, since from the SL client point of view the AV is wearing regular shirt or pants etc that go on top of this permanent underlayer addition... ^^;

edit: but it seriously sucks for lingerie makers.. maybe someone just got streams crossed and plugged in Teen Grid instead of Preview, or something? o.O;

Same goes for any sort of pretty bra and panties.

I can see them using this for the teen grid, period, as they are supposed to be PG. I can also see this for the PG areas of the grid, but not the Mature! This hurts too many businesses in SL for me to feel that it is purposeful, given that many clothing designers do swimsuits and lingere, not to mention the whole 'adult' industry of SL.

As another poster (and my husband quipped in the background) it would be pointless to do this anyways. We'd just make 'skin textured undies' to completely cover them. *shrug* So, I'm assuming bug.

I've posted to the blog, bug reported it and all that. Now, it's wait and see.

*noddles* That's what I'm hoping. I mean, if the main grid can think it's the preview, why not the preview think it's the teen? And since it's the adults that get used at test subjects, not the teens, maybe they decided to test this on us? If so, why not tell us? I wouldn't be so concerned if they had been more 'transparent!'

Of course. I understood that. I was just curious whether this 'feature' only baked underwear onto the skin if the avatar was completely naked. I just couldn't see LL forcing underpants (in particular) given how low cut so many existing pants and skirts are. I was *so* wrong. I too hope this is related to the teen grid.

Even that would be problematic. Can you imagine having to avoid PG sims so your clothes look OK? It's not just about nudity after all. Many existing outfits would look terrible whenever the avatar passed into a PG sim.

Bug report it too, so they have more 'test subjects.' One or two might get brushed off, but a lot of them? *shrugs*

There are other problems with the clothing - the slider buttons in one part of the appearance editor weren't getting drawn, I'm supposedly wearing some shorts but it still shows me inworld in long jeans, and in the appearance editor nothing is being shown in the slider area below the shirt - hard to use the sliders to adjust the shorts when the avatar body below the shirt and the shorts aren't displayed at all.

Someone deployed the teen grid code by mistake? (just a guess)

Or maybe, with so many kids coming in since 6/6/6, it's not a mistake

Clothing changes aren't showing for me without restarting the program.
