Searching for felow Aussie or Kiwi SL Sailors to form a sailing program for people in our time zone, wich could include Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore or any one else for that matter. Its 2:13 in SL and no one goes sailing then. I just completed the Mobray SC Olympic Triangle in the dark. Thank the Linden that the bouy lights were working!
Im a member of Vagabond Yacht Club as well and learn't to sail there.

BTW I love the course, and the boat and controls as well, But how is the race management side of things set up? How do the timmers work? Can we share existing courses and club houses if they are not being used for example?

Cheers

Unfortunately, I have to leave for work in about five minutes, so I can't really provide a detailed response just yet.

Most of the race lines that you see set up can be used by anyone wearing their SLSF Member group title. If you're right next to the line and you click on it, it'll tell you to say "+help" for instructions.

+reset will reset the timer
+start will start the timer, which is normally set for a countdown of two minutes
+results will give you the results of a race after it's done

You can also set the number of laps you want for a race or change the countdown before a race and some other things that I can't remember.

I believe all the clubs welcome others to use their start lines for practice or their own races, so long as it doesn't conflict with their own scheduled use times. Take a look at this thread of sailing locations which is where you'll find a list of the race lines. Just remember to have that SLSF Member group title on to use those lines.

You shouldn't even feel obligated to use the courses that the other clubs use. For instance, I recently used the Cristabel race line and created a quick course I dubbed The Volcano Run, which is not a standard BSF course.

I suppose the other thing that's helpful to know is how some clubs like to keep score of their races. Unfortunately, I'm all out of time to tell you! Here's the thread for where the SYC keeps scores and the VYC keeps scores.

Hope to catch you in world for some racing sometime!

Silkie Muir / Mel Fitzcarraldo / Static Sprocket

...i know of at least one former-regular-sailor who hails from australia, and she's really good, but unfortunately between the timezone mismatch and some race format issues with the only club which used to suit her schedule, she hasn't sailed in a few months - a real shame...

...while a couple of clubs have just recently begun to host europe-friendly sailing, it would be wonderful to see something start up which caters to the pacific rim as well - you should IM silkie muir or mel fitzcarraldo to see if they might be interested in working with you...also, i know that static sprocket's buccaneer's sailing federation generally welcomes folks hosting regattas out of gallow's point in christabel, is in dire need of active race directors, and would be a great match for silkie and mel's piratey tastes...maybe IM all three of them to discuss if there's a possibility of developing BSF's event schedule together?..

The Nantucket Yacht Club is a new club that is just getting set up. It would be our pleasure to host races that suit your time frame. Just let me know what you want.

See you on the water.
