A folder for inventory items you would like people to be able to copy at will, sort of the reverse of the current inventory drop. "Click this item to receive a copy"

The ability to trigger a script when your profile is viewed.

The ability to include script output in profile fields.

The ability to block muted people from seeing your profile.

More space in the profile text boxes.

Identification of people who have no payment info on file, but who have been SMS verified.

A contact tab, where people can place off-SL contact information such as email, AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Skype, etc.

inventory minimalise button
07-11-2006 00:12
by far the most used utility is probably the inventory and i would like to see it have a minimalise button as most of the other windows have. also being able to drag and reposition the minimalised windows along the bottom on the screen to rearrange them as we would like to. the default position on one minimalised window is just above where chat is displayed when using the non-bubbled chat option, and it obscures the chat then.

also, when i first joined a few releases ago, upon opening the inventory window the default area for text input was automatically changed to the search field in inventory and this was very useful. as if i wanted to see quickly what i was wearing with all attachments, no matter what i was doing, i'd be able to just open up inventory and start typing 'worn', giving me a list of everything i was wearing. the default position for text input was changed about a month ago and now we have to click in the search field first before being able to start typing. sounds trival but i'm constantly using this as i'm sure many others are. please bring it back, along with a minimalise capability!

As Mecan suggested, inventory control might be nice, but rather than change the defaults, why not just have it remember its previous state anywhere in the inventory? If you've searched for worn items, just have it go right back to the search and its results the next time the window opens.

I agree with suggestions by Buttercup and others for useful business functions and info display in our profiles. This would be my most used feature.

Hugsss all around I would really love to see a button made to stop people that are on your friend list from just dropping in on you.. where you can toggle on and off..

I think they shoud add more space to where you can add more pictures, and such that would be cool.

profiles leave them alone
07-19-2006 16:09
first of all if it not broke dont fix it like the lindens seem to do wtih everything. it is annoying and a breach of confidentialy to put if someone paid or not or if they have a credit card or on on there. why not just just the words free basic or preimum why give the credit card info which is just about wha it si doing by saying a person has pay information it is a challenge to hackers to go get that information.. duhhhhh
so the profile other than that is fine leave it alone

and so Im thinking..
08-02-2006 08:54
You're right! I don't think this sections been redone since I have been a member. HIGH TIME, I say! :p

Ive briefly read through the suggestions here.. so forgive me if I repeat anything..
I would like to see:

1). Payment info removed....thats one of those "nunya" subjects..lol

2). Notes field KEPT- I use that to add in notes about refunds Ive given, when I have added someone to a group, etc.. BUT I would also like a way to search this area, also if possible.

3). I would love to see who's linked to our store or has it as a PICK. I would like to be able to search this area and possibly use these people to test items, send random freebies, etc...

4). A FRIENDS section, instead of folks using up their PICKS to do this.

5). More options to display business info- maybe a seperate tab for this.

6). Some way to keep track of who you have dropped inventory to, who dropped you inventory and what it was. When I am not online and log in, I really dont know what I am looking for

7). Last login is a GREAT idea. Will sort of give you a good idea of who's an alt and who's not, yes? ;)

8). Someone mentioned spell check-- GREAT idea! to have on your profile. Typo's happen :o

9). I have asked for this before somewhere once upon a time, but a CALENDAR built into the UI would be fantastic! That way you could search the events, check or click an ADD TO CALENDAR button and you are reminded of the event before it starts. Also a way to add in personal stuff- Dont forget to go pick up little Johnny at school at 3:30 PM-- that way hes not standin there at 6 when you look at the clock and go OOOPPS! I was busy at the Leather and Lace contest and forgot ALL about him..rofl~

10). And as crazy as it seems, I would, somewhere, someday like to see an area in the SEARCH where it might show a 'new members' section after they have joined. I enjoy helping out new folks and I am not in the Mentor group because my free time is limited. I DO enjoy helping out the new members when I have time by giving freebies, helping to answer questions etc.. I think that it would be beneficial to everybody if it was handled in a controlled manner.

Skins, picture albums, ways to link to your website, etc.. all great ideas! I cant wait to see what's cool things are in store on upcoming releases.. Thanks Torley for startin the thread!.. :-)

unfortunatly currently I can't manage to read all 8 pages... perhaps this has been dais before
my idea/sugestion would be a link protocol thing, like there is for landmarks for profiles. you would put the link opnline and when someone clicks it it would open SL login the person and show the user's profile after loging in.

I was thinking (and maybe this has been suggested or doesn't even belong in the profile window) but a way to list the profiles I've written notes in, and a way to read them quickly w/o bringing up each profile would be nice. Searching all notes, too, would be cool. Not sure if any of this is feasable!

hhmmm my profile... a little more definition on the chin and jawline?

Was gonna glibbly say an ice cream dispenser, but on thinking about it, a dispenser of some sort - give out note cards, gestures, sample merchandise.

Interests - make the display of them be the results, rather than show all the options with little checkboxes, so you can more easily see at a glace what a person's interests are... expand the options, so you can create a "profile" of interests and make it searchable from the search menu so you can look up people who share your interests - not just building, but "building/weapons" or "building/flying spaghetti monster" or "texturing/diseased internal organs" or "texturing/ripping off someone's trademark" - some basics that lots of folks might have in common.

As for whether or not to have the fact that I have credit card info on file, or whether it's nobody's business: I can see the practical reason to have it (identifying whether someone is making themselves accountable for their behavior, vs an annonymous griefer) and no good reason NOT to, other than paranoia or having something to hide. I'm a stand up sorta guy - I don't belive in public annonymity. If I say or do something to piss you off, I back it with my hide.

Heya T - Dae and I just hit 90 days a few days back - we're technically no longer newbs (though I will be a newb in my heart for evar!).

Cheerio,

i think its a handy feature to have if you want to keep your land 99% friendly and griefer free. its nice to be able to block people from your land who have no payment info listed on file on their profile to keep the majoirty of alts/griefers away and live in peace; and its not exactly breaching confiedntiality since its a sl and we're talking about only disclsing this infor about an avie and not "outing" anyone; besides, im sure the Lindens have had their team of lawyers ok this from a legal standpoint;

WHAT DO YOU WANT IN YOUR SECOND LIFE PROFILE? :D

Yes, this matters, because it influences future feature development. Even if something can't be done yet, having the ideas and options open to us, and hearing the community out, is uberimportant.

De-feature. Debug! Without that, there isn't a future. Once you have done that, let's talk about profiles.

The idea of voice sounds good, but has anyone ever played There.com and been in a crowded room with more than 3 or 4 people speaking? its pretty annoying; and i already use skype when in sl sometimes to chat with friends, its much nicer, causes no sound pollution and the voices are limited to what you wish to hear; i just dont see a big need for voice in sl when skype and yahooo offer it and its free;

A profile pic that reflects your current Avitar..shape, size, clothing and coloring... That would be soooooo neat.

but I think that would need to be just an option, some people would rather have soemthing other than a "mug shoot" showing at their profile picture

Instead of all the pansy social stuff. I'd like to see some totally useful hard raw data and stats regarding our avatars with examples listed below.

- Number of prims rezzed
- Number of scripts created
- Maximum avatar speed attained
- Maximum avatar altitude attained
- Total disk size of all assets ever uploaded
- Total disk size of all assets created inworld (prim objects, notecards, scripts, etc)
- Ammount of Linden dollars spent in lifetime
- Total times changed clothing
- Total times attached item to avatar
- Total bug reports reported
- Total abuse reports reported
- Number of times sent to the cornfield
- Total number of days banned
- Number of screenshots taken
- Number of times crashed SL client
- Distance walked in miles/km
- Distance flown in miles/km
- Number of hours spent with another avatar in close proximity (less than 1m apart)
- Number of times mentioned the word OMG, ROFL, LOL, AO ON, etc.
- Number of times sweared publicly

and so on and so forth

Yep!!

I'd pay a thousand lindens for that info about my avie too.. be so cool to know, lol!!!

Also, dude whats "sent to the cornfield"?

The Cornfield--as it is known--is a place for those people who have caused serious offence (ussually by exploit) to the grid/residents and have been Perma-Banned.
One person who goes there / can only get there found a way to reverse pay an object (that is, get an object that normally accepts payments to pay him instead, I assume by getting to accept a negative number). Hacking the client protocol to make exploits kind of stuff.

I think besides the total and maximum values there could be averages about those values as well (depending on what each value is it could be average per hour or average of the total time playing)

Lindens stated it was for white collar crimes. Also, it's not for perma-banning , it's for suspensions.

More fine grained definition of 'friends'?

I have to agree with Rose here. Taking a RL example, most of us have a few true friends who have an open invitation to drop in any time no matter what, but the majority of our friends are aquaintences. These we give our phone number/IM/email with the understanding that we can chat or get together socially at any reasonable time, but there's not a 3am-shoulder-to-cry-on type of relationship.

Bringing that back to SL I'd like to see a single list of friends like it is now, but a flag that can be set on a per friend basis to allow/disallow stalking privileges. My real friends would check first anyway, you know?

I definitely vote for this; having been burned by a merchant that sells 'vouchers' for items only to never be online or to return IMs to actually receive data. If you looked at this profile (and I did) before buying..its a long standing account, very good 'ratings' someone you'd think would be a reputable business person...except that theres now way to know if they have logged in except to collect their Ls for the past 6 months. Knowing this person was inactive (or just taking my money since I was stupid enough to buy a voucher for a personalized item) would have made me pass this over.
