Submit Hurricane Katrina Relief event notices for posting in New World Notes!

We have an event planned for Friday that is not so dissimilar from another poster (honest, we didn't copy! lol). Perse mentioned the fundraiser for Friday on Hamlet's blog; it's gonna be a dance and date auction with prizes for attendees who contribute. The contributions will be going to second life folks who lost their homes in the hurricane: our own spa librarian, chiefly. He lost everything but a couple of plates to the storm, and has no insurance to replace any of it (his house, stuff, computer, everything washed away). He's going to stay with another SLer for the short term. (I see other folks posting avie names so i'll take a shot and hope I don't get in trouble for it... you guys know Samuel Frost? Also, our thoughs and hearts go out to Waves Lightcloud who was severely impacted as well.)

Anyway, FRIDAY! 9pm At the Phoenix Spa Resort in Sylvina, we will have:
* the Fabulous and Gorgeous Candi Honey DJing
* date auction with me as auctioneer and last on the block (folks say what kinds of bids they are up for before bidding begins on each auction with auctions for singles, couples and even groups accepted! get auctioned off with your pals for fun times and a good cause!)
*prizes donated by Candi and The Naughty Fun Store

So far, we have raised $92 USD (after Linden Conversion)! so WOOT! SLers Rawk!

Uh huh... I thought that would get your attention. Seriously though, several Lindens have agreed to participate in the Charity Ball and Auction on Sept. 13 at 6 pm SLT. Keep reading for all of the juicy details.

I have wanted to hold a fundraiser for the victims of Hurricane Katrina for some time now. I have trying to come up with something that would raise some money and would also be enjoyable. So the formal ball and auction is one thing I thought would be fun..

However, we won't be auctioning off clothing, skins or vehicles. We'll be auctioning off residents of Second Life... perhaps those you have always wanted to get to know better.

If you are the high bidder, you will win a date with the person you bid on. Winning does not include any sexual activities however (that's our official disclaimer), just a fun evening of getting to know someone a bit better.

You could find a quiet spot and chat with your auction "prize." Or ask him/her to show you his/his favorite places in SL, how to design, build, script, animate.... the fun you will have!

I intend to put myself on the block. If you would like to do the same, simply send me a notecard in-world, with your boigraphy (make it interesting) and name the notecard "AUCTION ME!"

Also up for bidding (so far) is Bub Linden, Blue Linden, Nova Linden,Maureen McLean, Cheronne Basset, Phoenix Psaltery and Jesse Murdock.

I hope to get many of you infamous posters to join in. Remember that it is for a good cause.

ALL $L generated by this event will go to the victims of Hurricane Katrina via the American Red Cross.

Klub Kink has a donation hat at the end of their dancefloor for Hurricane Katrina victims. They raised $75,000L for Breast Cancer and are now working towards that same goal for Katrina victims.

Wherever you donate, just make sure you do. They really need our help.

We were able to raise a total of $200 USD for Samuel between generous private contributions (ty Mr. Kinsella. ;-D) and Spa visitors. The date auction raised $97 USD in 3.25 hours. People were actually even bidding against themselves in order to give more and matching the bids they got on the auction block. *sniffs*

Next we'd like to do something for Waves Lightcloud, another sl community member who has been quite negatively affected, losing everything he had, (aside from Tang) including his pets. our hearts go out to you, Waves. All sales from The Naughty Fun Store this week will go to benefit Waves (or if he chooses, his charity of choice).

The Katrina Relief Group is holding an auction this Saturday Sept. 10th in Lanercost(77,155) You can stop by and see the items we will be auctioning off. The event will start at 5:00 with the auction starting at 6:00 There are Yard Sell items for sell now with all sales being donated to The American Red Cross.

Misfits Radio will be DJing the event and we will also have some raffle items to give away.

Just to let you folks know, the total raised for Katrina survivor Samuel Frost was $200 USD (thanks everyone!!) and that money has been sent to him for his immediate use as he stays with another fabulous SLer, Caycee. Several of us who were purchased at the date auction will be performing tonight as bellydancers at the Astrin Few concert, so come see our moves! ;-D

Waves Lightcloud is in our thoughts still, and we have made contact with Tang, his partner. She tells us he is doing ok, but that communication is difficult. She said he likes the Red Cross, so our fundraising efforts for Waves will go to that organization. For starters, we pledged all sales this week from The Naughty Fun Store, and that has already totalled a few thousand $L!

When I see all the people involved in coming to the aid of folks affected by this disaster, I am really moved at how fabulous SLers are. *snaps for SL*

Well, starting to get all over it!

I am posting here in the interests of transparency, just so people know their contribution totals and outcomes. We pledged sales @ my store and also a percentage of linden sales for the week and that has come to $15,450, which has been sent to Walter Night's donation collection box to go to the Red Cross. The Red Cross was the charity of choice of Waves Lightcloud, who is busy rebuilding his life after Katrina. We wish him and all the community members affected by this disaster our prayers at this time. TY to those shoppers who contributed. Cheers.
