This is not my idea, larger plans may be in the works to have a routine update for sim news. An update for all to know whats happening around the world, for those that dont get to explore as often as they like. This is just an exercise to guage interest and involement.

In the meantime, chime in and give everyone an update on what's happening in your sim. Recent news, not an in depth history, just an "at a glance" view of your sims current activity.

I will start it off...

Palomarian. Land owners still remain low in Palomarian due to approximately 20 plots of "land rush" and "land for the landless" yet to be claimed or assigned. About three residential builds are underway with another three or so nearing completion. Two prominent builds include the giant tree on the north shore and the airplane hanger across from it to the south. The new Palo Mall (by the bridge) is the newest build and appears to be near completion, new tenants are moving in their wares. Still plenty of open water for those speedboats.

This is a great idea, Loki, thanks for starting it! I hope
people post here with gusto, and welcome my reportage
follow-ups, when the news demands it. If there's one
thing the Great Expedition conveyed, is just the vast,
overwhelming size of the world now, and how difficult
it is for one man to possibly keep pace with its progress.

Fab idea, Loki :)

Indigo : The mountain range is looking great now, with a winding path through the top and lots of bridges, nice to walk through if there's a spare few minutes. Rafin and Flip are just completing the Absinthe bar in the basement of the castle, accessible via the dock. The railway track is also laid through the sim now and i think a station will be built soon for it. Feliciaa should be starting to build up on her land on the Eastern boarder soon... the land meets her Beach Club in the next sim. I think that's about it for now!

Down in Abbots, you'd have to be blind to miss Cubey Terra's Abbots Aerodrome which has recieved passing mention in many NWN articles. It's the huge sci-fi air port where Cubey Terra sells his airplanes and it has the potential for a wonderful community.

You should really check out the Abbots Aerodrome.

Varney -
Stepping off the teleporter at Stillman next to the South East corner of Varney you can now see the makings of a shuttle ready to launch by newcomer Tenk Khan.
Established resident Haute Monde has an excellent lighting store and the Seven Samurai group headed by Tryptal Valkyrie continue to add new buildings to our landscape in the South.
Lain Kothari has added a large structure including a bar and water feature high up in the clouds of Mt.Varney on his awesome tree.
We recently welcomed Kedamono Onizuka's AirCraft Gallery and a beautiful garden created by Aliena Serpentine on the Varney Land Coop groups broadwalk land.
Varney is also home to Tcoz Bach's intriguing game The Vorago which dominates our waters to the North and for Japanese items including swords check out Hiro Pendragon's shop in the North East.
We also welcome Kelly twilight's new clothing store at the South East base of the mountain, new resident Lexa Galatea , oh and theres my little boat too :)

Immaculate:

Headlines:

Gnome infestation has been quelled; Residents sigh in relief. Hordes of gnomes were seen streaming out of Ahtram Tower on the west side of Immaculate Wednesday night when fumigation for the short pests began. Since the fumigation ended Sat. no new gnome outbreak has been reported, though at least one resident is still having trouble finding his underwear.

Land for Sale. As of Sunday, large plots of land went up for sale. The plots running from 480 to over 1000 sq m are expected to go quickly as new arrivals continue to pour in. Reports of a hippo buyout of the land remains ungrounded.

Other news:

Ledgend Kris Ritter has begun building an exceptionally large boat on the east side of Immaculate. The boat's construction is shrouded in mystery as Ritter was unavailable for comment. Speculation on its construction though has some residents worried of an oncoming flood. This has bolstered local speed boat sales. It should be noted that neither Immac. weather forcasters nor local geologists expect the waters to rise. Visitors to the boat are urged *not* to leave pairs of pets on the property.

But FF, I am NOT a gnome. I mean I may be shorter than you...but...

Indeed it IS a nice thread, Loki! I shall also look forward to reading it.

By the way...
The cove in Stillman where i live is still peaceful and beautiful. land is filling up fast, but the neighbors are nice and the evenings are pleasantly quiet. Lots of new homes going up with very excellent achitectural ideas! One should stop in and see all the great homes!

And the view, at least in my humble opinion, has still been presereved as breathtaking.

DarkWood and Seacliff
03-08-2004 14:56
I am a woman divided these days -- half my land in DW and half in Seacliff.

DarkWood:
The community has welcomed several new landowners in the last couple of months, most recently Changeling Fate. The entire "town" area has been retooled, and Soren now has a replicia of the LOTR elven city up on the Dore Side. Eve recently built a beautiful "chapel" type building in DarkWood and Ani's castle has started to gain a bit of a reputation as an event hot spot. I have taken down my cave (yes, yes) to concentrate on other builds but the Riddle game is about to be in version 2.0 in a different location. DarkLife remains down while we await the return of Mark, who is apparently away studying. We're having a Ren Faire April 17-18, if all goes as planned, and we're looking for community volunteers and vendors (contact me).

Seacliff:

I'm just a resident, not one of the charter members, but in recent days members have bought some of the land and started to build. Already there are several huge trees on the property and big plans are brewing. The Elves have proven a cohesive group, even bursting into spontaneous performance art a few days ago by cramming 10 AVs on a single cube and 'dragging' themselves across the world. They crashed at least two parties, embarrassed and shocked at least five other avs at a private gathering, and generally wrecked wacky havoc everywhere they went. A good time truly was had by all ;).

This is why elves shouldn't be allowed congregate. They should stay in their place, barefoot in the kitchen baking cookies.

Immaculate:

Update:

Resident monster discovers not all short AVs are gnomes. After a provocative hypothesis presented by Nolan Nash where he stated, "I am NOT a gnome" , monster forestrock Flower launched a study using the PHPB (Pointy Hat Pointy Beard) gnome detection method. The results were stunning. "I guess I just assumed that AVs shorter than me were gnomes. Turns out very few AVs in SL are actually gnomes." The study also showed that nearly everyone in SL is shorter than the towering monster. Flower then released an apology for fumigating normal non-gnome AVs off his property Wednesday evening. Flower had this final comment, "What I still don't understand is if Nolan isn't a gnome, why was he stealing my underwear?"

in Tan, all is mostly calm. Malachi sold his land to Zeppi, who is reparcelling the land for resale. Chris omega seems to have left. Nick rhodes has been absent.

Actually, now that I mention it... tan's really quiet lately. I wonder what's up?

LoL! Um... it's not an ark, don't worry. No imminent floods that I know about that you don't, unless the one in the feature suggestions got implemented already.

In other (sad) Immaculate news:

Someone tore down all Nolans cool builds that made immaculate what it was, and flattened the whole thing so that the once beautiful sim now looks like the rest of the old sims. It's now up for sale at a huge markup for PG land (after I sold them some land the other day at $1 a meter cuz they said they wanted to live there and needed the prims (but then they said they wanted to keep Nolans builds too). Guess they decided not too, huh? Must have been the thought of all those dollar signs.)

Quite why you would have to flatten mountains in order to put it up for sale is beyond me. Couldn't it have been left for the new owners to decide what they would have liked there?

LoL. Well I can't really name names now you've condemned them as a butthead. Although there was a posting by said person yesterday advertising the land for sale ;)

I had had no dealings with this person before. And I don't think I will again. As far as I can see, they simply lied outright about their intentions. I'd have prolly still sold them the land at $1 a meter anyway, because I'm not a mercenary bloodsucking leech (apologies to all the mercenary bloodsucking leeches), and because that's what the very nice Cristiano sold it to me for. But that's not the point.

Although I guess 'hi, I'd like to buy your land so I can mark it up to 5 times the price and flatten and rip down Immaculate and sell it tomorrow' is not so persuasive as a sob story about not having money, needing the prims and looking forward to living in your newly acquired home on your newly acquired land.

Loki, readers, sorry to disrupt your excellent news thread, btw. Please continue :)

Aliens have taken a liking to Myrtle as many UFO's are gathering at Starwaster's Landing Hub. Also he has a great airship for sale if you are in the market for one...

Strange things are happening in Myrtle as well.. at the time of this wriiting I have witnessed and photographed seven of these haunting phenomenon.. .......more details to follow....................

And ahh yes... I must in conclusion report Grumpy the tortise still continues to try his utmost to escape the boundries of Gardner Pond.. hes been spotted several times attempting to fly ... on a few occasions he was reported to be off world.... the unending wrangling efforts of Rafe Gardner have once more secured Grumpy in his enviroment, however if you are in Myrtle and spot him escaping or hear his drum banging please let the Gardners know immediately :) *hehehe*

SLATE:

We are still working on making it a full community sim. We had a house tour event yesterday, that apparently went very well, I couldn't make it to the tours, but I did teach a house building workshop shortly thereafter, that ended up last 3 hours with those who stuck it out. We're slowly but surely starting to become a full sim community, and hoping to have more events held out that way sometime soon.

Too bad it's all flattened. I liked those mountains. :(

Quick News about Federal:

Perhaps one of the few old sims that has not been flattened beyond repair. The Azura hotel a shining beacon in the middle of the land. A nice bridgeway started to connect a few of the properties. The bridge also raises and lowers to allow for boaters to pass underneath. The small forest with pond is still a nice retreat in the shadow of the builds. And expect for when one resident throws parties, the land is very easy to move around in. Oh, and a new event deck built by Lordfly for Pendari now sits proudly connected to the Boutique that floats above a tiny island. :D

Reporting from the Taber sim
03-09-2004 20:50
Taber is a loosely knit group of SL players following a Tudor theme. The core being a few of the old Americana group.

We started off with Jai Nomad's Half Pint Inn. Soon after Crowcatcher Valen built his house next door. Then Bonecrusher Hall went up and Fleabite Beaches place.

Garth and I own FairChang Hall, and have added a windmill, lighthouse, boathouse, a church and churchyard to the area as well as the Taber Mews Park and a skyway.

Other residents are Jim Lupis, Johnathan Marten, Jolene Jade, WickedRaven and VampireLord Serpentine, Stanley Weber, Eddie Esher, Sinclair Valen, Phoenix Fairlight, Pendari Lorentz, paulie Femto.

Our newest resident is Khamon Fate who is building his place in the NE quadrant next to Siggy Romulus' fabulous Persian Palace.

The oldest builds here are Datura Fairchild's store on stilts high over the water, and Ama Omega's Casino.

There are also some cottages to rent to the people holding basic accounts and the current tenants are Zenny Rhodes who rents a very artistic build of Jai's on the pond next to the Taber Village Store.

Jonny Marker, Malcolm Orlowski, dogcow Mysterio, Auroa Dayton, Neferon Kuroda and thet Sklar are renting Garth's and my cottages.
