War In Jessie: Is It Upon Us?

General Elanthius had made good his escape and was now floating over Misso. He had spied a small island where he planned to set up camp and prepare his forces for a reinvasion of Jessie. He had a mere half dozen good men with him - and two dozen really stupid men. He would find amusing ways to use those guys for target practice later.

The blimp wasn't holding up very well, it had been nicked by a stray shuriken thrown by a lucky neko and was rapidly leaking hot air. Fortunately, if there's one thing that stupid bots are good at then it's leaking oil into the fire to keep it burning hot.

During the flight Elanthius had little to do except plot his revenge and he had concocted a scheme so devious, so nefarious, so cunning that it couldn't possibly fail under any circumstances. He resisted the urge to laugh maniacally. There would be time enough for that later.

---

By the time the sun had risen the next morning Elanthius had finished the work on a little bot modification he liked to call Transmousification. With this in place there was no possible way he would be defeated.

Elanthius pointed the two modified bots in the right direction and set them on their journey to conquest.

"Now fly, fly my pretties!", he cackled.

Unfortunately Blort and Blert were not flying bots and so they started dutifully trudging back towards Jessie. They clanged and clonked down to the shore and just kept on walking straight through the ocean in a direct line to the Neko camp.

Blort looked at his companion and spoke in a metallic robot voice that sounded like a cross between Stephen Hawkings and a food mixer.

-bzzp- BEGIN RECONFIGURATION -grt- NEKO DISGUISE ACTIVATED

And with that two cat like ears slowly started to rise from the heads of the bots. They settled into place with a load scraping noise. After a second or two the ears began to spin slowly like a sonar.

Blert, the smarter of the two (but only barely) looked smug despite his complete lack of face muscles.

-bzzt- WITH OUR PERFECT DISGUISES WE WILL INFILTRATE THE NEKO CAMP AND DESTROY THEM -bip-

-bzzt- AFFIRMATIVE, agreed Blort.

Using their newly developed cat like grace the 15 foot tall, two ton, armoured, tank class killing machines covered in seaweed and mud from their underwater journey walked "silently" towards the neko camp.

~CLANG~ ~CLANG~ ~CLANG~ ~CLANG~, each footstep caused the ground to shake. The two neko guards in the watch tower looked on with some bemusement, some doubt and a whole lot of "gonna shove a katana in your face if you get much closer".

-brzt- GREETINGS LIFEFORM. WE ARE FELLOW NEKOS -zz-. WE ARE WEARY FROM OUR LONG TRAVELS -bzzt-. MAY WE PEACEFULLY ENTER YOUR CAMP AND CHANGE OUR OIL FILTERS AND RECHARGE OUR BATTERIES?

As he spoke a small fish fell out of an exhaust port and started flopping around on the floor. The neko guards looked at each other. Looked at the bots with their rotating cat ears. Looked at each other again and drew their blades.

-dzzp- WE ARE RUMBLED. INITIATE BACK UP PLAN OMEGA DELTA 7

With the sound of a thousand fingernails scraping a thousand blackboards the bots launched their cat ears into the air. A burst of flame firing each one like a rocket towards the barricaded gate. The gate held up well against the explosion but a few cracks appeared nonetheless.

-bzzt- ACTIVATE TRANSMOUSIFICATION PROCESS

Suddenly the bots appeared to melt into nothingness. In fact they had split into thousands of separate parts, each one totally autonomous, totally explosive and totally mouse shaped. The tiny mice dashed with alarming speed towards the cracks in the door and slipped easily into the Neko camp. All they had to do was get close enough to each Neko and deploy the miniature thermo nuclear explosive device. The mice twitched their tails seductively, and randomly ran around looking delicious.

The trap was sprung.

Illiana and Astraea watched with amusement as the thinly disguised bots emerged onto the white strand of beach, shouting their somewhat lame greeting. Although momentarily distracted by the yummy looking fishy that one of the bots dropped, they drew steel and Astraea pressed the alarm button. The gate and wall were immediately reinforced by invisiprim barriers and a push resistant shield.

With a horrendous racket, the bots launched their silly looking ears into the air. Turning into some sort of missles, the ears impacted on the gates causing minor damage. As the astonished guards watched, the bots disolved into a horde of rather cute and tasty looking mousies that rushed towards the walls.

Astraea laughed, "Meow, this kitty wasn't born yesterday. I smell a trap."

Illiana watched as the mousies piled up against the invisiprim barrier. "Reminds me that we're due to be relieved soon, and I'm kinda' hungry."

Astraea purred, "In any event, expect reinforcements soon. I pushed the big red button."

She ate, then slept, and in a fitful sleep dreamt of a stranger, a being she could only sense yet never see. At first light she awoke, and stretched. The day was new; the impossibility, or so it had seemed the day before, that life might yet contain peace, had evaporated.

She turned to pick up a fragment of printed text that had caught her eye. An old label from a soup can... She froze.

Only the visual deformation gave any sign that something was there. Like water's reflective surface altered by ripples, the visual display twisted and glittered within the area affected by its presence.

"Who are you?" Os asked.

It moved closer.

Other combat sims...... but no war ...
:(

Combat is roleplay, war is outa' control and over the top. Probably never be another one in SL.

I fondly remember going to Jessie in 2004 and being killed almost immediately every time :-D
There used to be a void between my house and Jessie, but when the voids were filled it was easier to go between the two so I started watching for the Return of the WWIIOLers, never suspecting that a new scourge of the grid, in the form of bot armies, would arise.

Of course the downfall of the WWIIOLers was when the Lindens bogarted ALOT of Jessie land from one of our members. Most of us at that point said fark it and got out of Jessie since LL could rape us of our land at any time. So we sold while the $$$ was good.

/me reads threads at the other forum...

If anything happens here... everyone rendezvous in Jessie for a blowout. Get your weapons ready, hunker down, and get ready to fight all comers in the name of fun and freedom.

I can't believe people are still posting in this thread hahaha. It's like five years old!

I still believe war is upon us though.

There aren't many statements that are always true, but that's one.

Oh no, they've shot Derek! Who will look after his homepage?

Perhaps it will change to zombIE.com.

Derek is wily - one needs to be to have survived so long.

One of my alts has a hankering to live in Jessie but he can't quite swing the rent ;-D He's quite warlike, so would fit in well.

Only the visual deformation gave any sign that something was there. Like water's reflective surface altered by ripples, the visual display twisted and glittered within the area affected by its presence.

"Who are you?" Os asked.

It moved closer.

Stepping back in surprise, Os watched as the shimmer expanded, then zipped around and around her until she felt as confused as if she'd fallen into a vortex. She stumbled left, then fell to one knee, dizzy. The distortion surrounding her expanded upward until it was a shining stream of stretched and distorted reality, dazzling in its brightness, and, she suddenly realised, emitting a hum of high energy.

"What do you want?" she cried out, more in fear than in hope of a reply. But reply it did.

The distortion fell away - instantly dropping like a switch had been turned off. Hugging herself as she crumpled to the hard-packed ground, Os became a small, lone figure in the landscape, as small as she could make herself. She made a low keening noise but dared not close her eyes. Whatever it was, she'd experienced nothing like it before. Was it a shield? A type of radiation? An alien being? A natural force?

Unable to think clearly, she gripped her knees tightly and waited. Waited... for the unknown to manifest itself.
