If you have inworld pictures you'd like to share, please come by and drop them to the board. I've set it so that it is running in slideshow mode, displaying each picture for 10 seconds then cycling to the next. Anyone can add pics...just click and drag your picture from your inventory, then, while you are holding the mouseclick key, HOLD DOWN the control key....drag the pic to the board, and then keep holding the mouseclick key while you RELEASE the control key. That will add your pic to the board and you should see it right away.

Um....duh...sorry...

The way to drop pics is to keep holding the CONTROL key while you release the MOUSECLICK key.

I had it backwards.

:P

As the balloon drifted across the border into Jessie, we saw the blips on the radar: incoming hostiles. We were still a little ahead of the main party, so the plan was to get in, hit the target at the centre of the sim, soften up their defenses, and get out. Quick and easy.

We made it all the way to the enemy lookout tower dead-centre in the sim before they hit us with the opening salvos. Trimming let loose with a few rounds and I circled the balloon around the west side of the sim for a minute. Then they started hammering us with RPGs -- the balloon was ground-zero in a moving ball of fire and exploding grenades. But I wasn't worried. My balloon was titanium plated -- 25cm thick in places. We were untouchable.

I took us back out to the rendezvous in Hawthorne and we waited. And waited.

Something was wrong. There was no sign of them. I got on the radio with Brad. The hostiles had regrouped and still held the sim. Brad asked for reinforcements. Without a thought for his own safety, Trimming leapt from the balloon and charged back to the battlefield. And I followed shortly, now carrying only two unarmed passengers. Lacking weapons, I wondered what I could do to help.

I found them just as Hamlet shouted the order to charge! Two more jumped onto the balloon, and I guided us over Brad and Hamlet towards the enemy. Maybe I could provide a diversion.

The poor fools took the bait, and soon we were again engulfed in flame and bullets. We circled randomly in hopes that we could continue to draw their fire away from Hamlet and his party.

Finally, it looked like the battle was winding down, so I headed east and away from Jessie. But then, something happened -- we were falling helplessly to the water below. Somehow they managed to blast us off the balloon. It was gone... my balloon was toast, and we trudged to the safety of shore under a rain of RPGs.

Just then we heard Hamlet's shout of victory and we knew that we had won the day. His shouts echoed over Jessie -- taunts, jibes, jeers. Then he taunted them some more.

And just as we departed, he slipped in a couple more jibes for good measure. That Hamlet really likes to rub it in. A brave leader and a good soldier, that Hamlet. And he's especially good at the taunting too.

Excellent narrative, sir! May I post excerpts from my
upcoming account?

Meanwhile, some pointers to Medici and Kuroda's respective slideshows posted here:

http://secondlife.blogs.com/nwn/2004/03/the_trek_ends.html

Speaking of mine account, as I say there, it shall come
shortly, and it shall feature Pendari's rotating wardrobe
signage, and above all, Sir Lupis' cartographic skills...

I only took a couple of pictures myself, and will certainly drop them on the picture displays. Wonderful idea! Buttercup was my "official" photographer because she asked to be, and I was flattered. So she would have a lot more photos than I and I'm sure she took some group shots along the way. Thanks again Buttercup! :)

I had a lot of fun putting together the outfits and the signs! I did not want to wear only my designs, so I also used many, many outfits from some of my favorite and newly discovered designers around SL.

I thought of the idea while reading the announcement on the blog. When I first thought of it though, I was looking at the wrong map and it looked like there would only be about 35 or so outfits to put together. Then I found the correct map. 92 sims!? WOW. haha.. But I was determined!

Each outfit and sign was themed together and either reflected a statement related to the theme of a sim as a whole, or a prominant build in the sim, or something related to the Sim name (if there was no apparent theme otherwise given).

I'm going to piece together pictures of me in the various outfits and signs (probably on 3 or 4 big boards). And each board will have a notecard inside describing the outfit and sign themes, as well as landmarks to the shops of the designers whos clothing I'm wearing in the shots. This is my way of saying thank you to them for making such a wonderful variety of designs for the SL community!

Thank you to everyone for the compliments on my cheerily insane idea! hehe.. *hugs* :D

I just dumped a load of photos into Zero's display, including one of the balloon in flames :) I thought we'd gotten away with it, all was quiet, and then *boom!* the screen was filled with flames and smoke... unreal! (and me armed only with my trusty teddy bear..!)

Definately an event to remember :p

Haha, excellent narrative Cubey.

Also, for anyone who wants one, and I haven't gotten yours to you yet, Send me an IM in world and i'll send you the "official" "Walk Across the World" t-shirt, complete with map of the route on the front. Only 20 bucks....... just kidding.

Fantastic Cailyn! And I see you actually NAMED your pictures according to the sim we were in at the time! I forgot to do that with my pics, so all i have is "snapshot 1, 2, 3..."...and now I can't remember where half of them were taken. :P

If you zoom in on the pictureboard to watch the slideshow, the name of the file will be displayed hovering above the board.

Heh, i named 'em as I took 'em, unfortunately things got very blurry after Olive, so the pictures stop.. All I remember after Magenta was the balloon doing a submarine impression, getting blown to hell and back in Jessie, and Kei telling us which parts of her hurt (it was a *long* list)!

A number of people have added their pics to the slideshow. We have about 100 images now! There's also a small white cone at the base of the pictureboard that, if you click on it, will dispense a small notecard describing the walk.

Had some people from Jessie wander over and check out the pics the other day. They particularly liked the ones of the balloon engulfed in flames. :) They also said it had been a long time since Jessie enjoyed such a spirited sortie, and invite us back anytime we feel like engaging in good natured sparring.

sorry

My mentioning the ww2onlers plot to kill Hamlet has gotten me kicked out of OPFOR. I am sorry I never knew this information has anything to do with OPFOR. I was only trying to help a friend. I never meant to upset any person in any of the groups based in Jessie. I never knew any of the plans would happen. I didnt even know this information has any association with OPFOR or members of the group WW2ONlINE. I just thaught it was some crazy rambling. I am very sorry i have offended anyone. I would also like to say that the no member of OPFOR or any other group for that matter ever told me it was wrong to give Hamlet that information. As far as I was concerned it was just a few crazy people against Hamlet and his party. I feel very betrayed by getting kicked out of OPFOR. Nobody tells me anything.

I added a bunch of pictures to the slideshow of the first 25 Sims of the Walk.

If you haven't seen the outdoor viewer on Zero's land - get on down to his place - it's excellent!

The ducks await you...

Capital idea!

Mr. Perkins, I cannot speak for the mad fellows of
OPFOR, but your warnings of imminent danger made
for Drama, Supspense, and Brutal Conflict, so in my
eyes, you are no laughingstock, sir!

I wanted to let Hamlet and everyone know that I had a fantastic time... it's too bad that my C drive gave up the ghost Friday before I could transfer all my pics to CD-ROM :(

It took me four days just to finally get my stupid computer up and running stable enough to try and download SL... but 1.2.12 hates me, I swear >_< I think the longest that I was inworld was 30 seconds.

Here's to hoping 1.2.13 will be much better (and much more stable for me)

Bye bye for now,
Alexis

Sounds like ya'll almost got quite the smiting! Might I suggest doing the walk in Hamster Balls next time? I use them when evil rears it's head in the form of Watermelon Lauchers (could someone PLEASE fix the speelink in that file LOL) in Cordova while I'm busy building! I have some "green lantern" forcefields I've created too that can withstand a pounding (and also some trapper bubbles that stop baddies in their tracks!) Let me know if you'd like to help me test them out for the next Walk! I would surely love to be a part of it!

Loving the story so far Hamlet!

But I noticed you couldn't find any Wood Elves in Seacliff? Hahahaha, they are sneaky! You had at least three walking in the party with you! :D
