So far, in our party, we have:
- a cartographer - two ballonists (room for travelers up to 5-8 or so on each) - two voyagers, roles as yet undetermined - a metaphysician - two madmen/madwomen
8 thus far, then! Room for many more, especially as soldier protectors!

(And one need not e-mail me, to request membership in the party-- a Message of the Instant kind will also suffice.)

It occurs to me that I have not officially named the assignation point for the beginning of our travels. (Though keener minds may have already discerned this, by perusing the journey's map.) To wit, we shall begin on the Southern shore of the Southern-most sim, of Baker.
Tomorrow! At Noon!

Indeed! The map, the exact route the walk will take, plays a key part in my cheerily insane mind... Thank you for putting it up for us Hamlet! What a journey this shall be!

Indeed!
And this is a request that would require a response post- haste, but I shall make it, regardless: has any in-world clothier a set of explorer clothing, suitable for a Victorian- era expedition leader? Think on Richard Burton at Lake Tanginika, or Stanley and Livingstone, and the like. Jodphurs, pith helmet, and such. If you have those in your wardrobe, and desire to make them available to me, I shall pay fair Linden value, and offer a "plug" to the designer!

9 Hours. From start to finish.
Holy freakin cow.
The most amazing group effort and exciting time. Yes, I'm weary and both physically and mentally exhausted. But I am so glad I was part of it.
Thanks.

I apologize for my early leaving from the expedition... it was for technical reasons; it seems that the area of my C drive which holds the cache files for SL got corrupted and has this nasty habit of rebooting my computer. I have jury rigged it to at least boot up and run enough to post, but it looks like my C drive is starting on its last legs... so until I get that fixed, my times in SL will be brief.
I am glad that the intrepid travellers were able to complete their journey safely.

What a wonderful journey!! I was with the walk from start to finish, and it was time well spent and greatly enjoyed! Despite a few sim crashes, the couple of times Hamlet fell into a void, our war in Jessie, and Cubey flying some of our party while he was drifting in and out of sleep, we reached our destination in one piece and filled with the sense of accomplishment. Thank you to all of you who travled with the walk. Each of you helped keep spirits up and I had a wonderful time walking the world with you. Thank you Brad for being our brave and straight thinking guide. We would have been lost without you! And thank you again so much Hamlet for allowing us to take this journey with you! I look forward to the next adventure, even though I know next time we go by air transport. hehe *group hug*

for the time i was there...
03-05-2004 07:23
I wish i could have been there from beginning to end, but due to auctioning i didnt catch up until Bodega...
..then i had to leave just after the trek reached the 1/3 way mark...
..but more importantly, i was taking snapshots all along the way, i know Pituca was as well... i would like it if everyone who took pictures could post something here letting us know, then somehow we can compile them altogether in one place...
i have been thinking, and coming up with some rough ideas for, an SL fan site. i would love to put something there about this journey along with a bunch of pictures
...

I had a wonderful time, unfortunatly I had to log after 6 hours of following our fearless leader. I made it to Kissling all the way on foot with the exception of one time I had to go AFK for a bit and missed two sims (Thanks for the AFK balloon Cubey!!)
Then after the struggle of the lagolicious sims of Tehama, Da Boom, Ritch and Zoe, I finally hopped aboard the balloon again. I had to log when we got to Kissling (6pm) and when I logged back in on my deck in Taber (8pm) I saw the valient bunch trekking through Taber on their way to Welsh. I couldn't rejoin them as I had Jeopardy at 8:30.
I am sorry to have given up the great adventure, I enjoyed every minute with the faithful band including that great cartographer Brad Lupis, the zany Zana Feaver, Pendari Lorentz who had a new outfit and a new sign for every sim, and my new friend Merwan Marker.
I have some great pictures Cy, get in touch.

You're sweet Pituca! I wondered where you vanished to and was thinking you fell into one of the vortexes!

*group hug* I still cannot believe you had 92 different outfits...one for each sim. Great stuff! It was like watching a fashion show at the same time.

Pictures, Pictures!!
03-05-2004 10:28
I have just set up a pictureboard on Venice Beach, right in front of the entrance to the Church. If you have inworld pictures you'd like to share, please come by and drop them to the board. I've set it so that it is running in slideshow mode, displaying each picture for 10 seconds then cycling to the next. Anyone can add pics...just click and drag your picture from your inventory, then, while you are holding the mouseclick key, HOLD DOWN the control key....drag the pic to the board, and then keep holding the mouseclick key while you RELEASE the control key. That will add your pic to the board and you should see it right away. I will leave it up indefinitely so that everyone can add as many pictures as they want. I want to make a permanent display of it so that all of SL can share in our grand adventure.

Thanks all, I had a great time trekking across the world with all of you. I'm surprised my mind had let me make it all the way through, thought i'd go insane right around Taber. But the excitement in Jessie and Rausch seemed to punch me back up. Thanks to Hamlet for organizing this walk, it was truely an honor that you let me hold the map for this one, and it was truely one of my more memorable SL experiences. And thanks to all those who stayed with us, Pendari, Cubey, Merwan, and those who joined us at different times.
