Can I say In the nicest way possible that the fucking Sunshine Linden is annoying me?
NO really.......Sunshine is great...many love it...but even before the Sun became god IT made my teeth ache........
This is in no way meant to hurt people who have perpetual rainbows above their heads....but seriously....
I've noticed our new rainbow is here, to not answer questions, but to placate us....with sunshinny words and shit. Shit being the operative word.

If you're referring to me, Moridin, you could have asked me directly as well. I'm here. If you think I am all about "rainbows" and "sunshine", then you're even more positive than I am, because a good volume of my posts have to do with criticism and the problems here. It is just very odd that what I say that's happy continually gets brought to the top! I joked the other day that I could walk in here and start personally attacking everyone and the SL Forums would erupt in laughter, thinking it was all a joke, or a "roast" or something. I dunno why... it happens. But back to the root, I recently wrote a blog entry on the topic. It's titled " The True Optimists": I'm commonly said to be a happy person. Perhaps even "overhappy"! Some people call me a "cheerleader" because of my positive attitude and enthusiasm. This always strikes me as strange, because my self-image is actually leaning on the negative side. And the people who are cynical and jaded and do this—I'll call them the true optimists, at least in a sense.Let me explain more. Out of my many (10,700 and counting) posts on the SL Forums, a good deal have to do with criticism, and what could be better in Second Life. I've been especially hard on issues like Telehubs (SCROO 'EM!), foot shadows, and useability problems like texture loading. Those posts tend to go forgotten in time, though, while the slightest mention of "Torley is happy about something" gets lifted right to the top!I am moving towards a balance on the whole. One reason why I am so happy today, is in the years before, I was absolutely not! I was depressed and went through one personal tragedy after another, which culminated in the death of my Dad, and then the loss of my good hearing. I simply became depressed with being depressed. It came time for me to reverse the flow, and do something about my life. And here I am, today. Now, that doesn't mean I'm immune to destructive behaviors. I like to vent when I am frustrated, like I'm sure a lot of people do. I do it creatively, though. Something I just realized, subconsciously, is this: in response to textures not loading quickly enough for me, I "vented" out my own textures to share. So that when they do load, like a baby being born, there is joy after the pain. After I released "Torley Texture Bundle 1"—please ask me for a free copy!—I started working on a 2nd installment. It's almost done. And it's that friction that keeps me going, even when I am tired. Also, it's in those fatigued moments that I find something beautiful about the world that I haven't talked about before, or I have, from a different angle. Like the magical process of rock tumbling, each side of the stone gets smoother, and I'm more refined as a person. This isn't elusive, and the connections are all here.I understand there's anger. I know all about lag being like arthritis for avatars. These things, I have felt. I intimately tap into the source, and I can complain about the problems. And beyond that, I can do something about them. This isn't some airy-fairy powerdust, but realistic, pragmatic approaches. I may appear whimsical, but that style is nothing without the pairing of substance, and perhaps it's accurate to call myself my own worst critic. And while I am happy, that's only a slice of the emotions I go through. So, when some people see me as happier than I see myself, reason dictates that in some way—they're the true optimists!

The word may befit the OP much better. Torley has never been less than informative and pleasant to be in company with. Just try competing with Torley in a trivia quiz. Lightning speed on the keyboard and sharp witted responses are the norm with that watermelon slinging pixelated compilation.

Torley I bet my ass that you are an incredibly lovely person....if I said anything else I'd be drubbed hehe. But I will say and stick by it...that I believe you are here to placate us. You have a great rapore with the masses on the forums and do a great job of diffusing situations, because who, but a true cad, would argue or continue to bitch after you have said your peace? When there is a topic that is brought up....inflammatory or not....once you hop in it's a done deal....tell me I'm wrong......

But *sigh* you are you, and I am I, and my opinion is now relegated to notices and well wishes. I bet if I started a thread about Philip it would have a chance at staying where I put it Oh and BTW Kudos...hehe, didn't think you had it in you.

You are putting the cart before the horse.
Torley displays a lot of passion for and interest in SL, and more to the point was already like this before becoming a Linden ... both here frequently, and behaving in just this manner.
So it seems more plausible to me that LL simply took notice and knew a good thing when they saw it.

When I say "knew a good thing when they saw it", I don't mean "Mwahaha! We can pay Torley to spread empty words of sunshine and delight, and the forum users will never suspect our nefarious plans!" *KRAKOOM*
I mean "Hey, someone that passionate about SL and helping others would make a good addition to the team."
*shrugs*

I said I didn't take you seriously? Show me where I said any of this and I will modify my post to eliminate any confusion. What I WILL say is that bitter and judgemental posts (you judged a whole lot about me based on 6 of my words) typically come later in a forum poster's participation rather than immediately. You could use some rainbows in your life!

When I first came to SL I found Torley's website and it was way helpful with things to do and see in SL. Then I found the forums and noticed that Torley would often post a review of the different gadgets and vehicles she liked. Then I read further and noticed that Torley had posted intelligently about different issues and often had a decent, somewhat impartial point of view. I somehow feel that Torley has earned her Linden -- so to speak. She's done a lot. So what if she's here to placate us. You, obviously, have no been placated. I take it your opinion of your fellow players is as low as your opinion of Torley if you think that we can all be placated by the hiring of one person. Furthermore, if you take a look at the forums, you'll see people bitching and having intelligent discussion about things that they feel are wrong or need to be changed in the world. So, obviously, not everyone has been placated. It seems as if the Linden Labs grand conspiracy to have Torley placate the world has failed. Even if that was the goal -- and I don't see how it could have been. On the other hand, your post does kind of make me want to apply for a job as a Liason and name my Linden "Soma Linden". That would just be too cool. My bear would made out of valium or xanax. Or both. But I digress. Personally I think you are wrong. I think you have little to no evidence to support your supposition that Torley is here to placate us. She is passionate and knowledgeable about SL. She has contributed a lot to the world and most of it was not for personal gain. The practice of hiring support staff for online worlds from the fan base is not a new concept. MMOGs have been doing it for years. As a matter of fact, I can name at least 10 major MMOGs that have former fans as developers or support staff on the project. So I don't know what your problem is but unless you have specific evidence to back up your claim then I would say you have a personal problem with Torley and/or just like to whine.

U MUST know better... Nah. Just that the bitter posts lashing out and judging people doesn't typically happen until later in a forum poster's career. Taking a swing at one of SL's most beloved Lindens on post number two is simply uncommon and shows you are on the fast track (to where I have NO idea.)

He shall be cast into the outer darkness, where there is weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth. And also, there's nothing good to snack on. Pizza is nonexistent, and Cheetos are forbidden. If I had to pick ONE person for "Most Favored Person" status in here, it'd be Torley. Torley is just... TORLEY. To criticize her for her Torleyness... well, that's just CRAAAZY talk. P2

I thought it was kinda against the rules to start a thread which has as it's only purpose a discussion about a particular individual, let alone one that has as it's only purpose dumping poop on a particular individual. I know Torley is too nice to can a thread about herself, but where are the other res-mods?

From: Moridin Unsung But I will say and stick by it...that I believe you are here to placate us. Mordin, since you are fairly new you may not realize that LL has a dodgy (at best) history with customer service. Placating the customers and providing someone who actually listens and will go out on a limb for customers is a fairly smart business decision that deserves to be applauded. Not all of us are going to like each other, which is why we have that spiffy Ignore feature on the forums. When you run across forum posters that you find yourself continuously wanting to reach into the monitor and slap, just put them on Ignore. If only we had a button to ignore people in RL, the world would be a much happier place....
