Hiro Queso is more well known (and much more well liked) then Hiro Pendragon everywhere in game.

Forget it. It's clear you're interested about trolling as your alt and insulting me (the parenthetic jab) than discussing a serious issue.

From: someone
As I heard about him in the few days ingame multiple times, but only know of the other Hiro because of this stupid thread.

Obviously then you don't get out much.

From: someone
I would say, that since neither of you own an actual registered trademark, that the rights should belong to Hiro Queso, since he is more well known.

This is subjective and irrelevant.

I might recommend you actually read my comments, rather than knee-jerk react to them.

I'm trademarking the letter "a" as my new business name, all rights to that letter herein now belong to me.

The phonecians won't know what hit them once my legal department gets ahold of them!!

This isn't too far off. Oprah Winfrey has "O Magazine" trademarked.

I can only imagine the special package of poses that will come with the Posecube that Mr. P is sure to send you so you may become familiar with his product. Argh! I can't call him Mr. P; that's taken!

Isn't that Philip? Or Mr. Protagonist?

You are not as well known as papa john's.

Exactly. And if I made a pizzeria and called it "Papa John's" I'd get sued. Even though it's a common name.

I was thinking of Beau Perkins, recently read a notice that he wouldn't be very active in due to health reasons. His business is called Mr. P's. I honestly didn't remember it until after I had already typed Mr. P in reference to you.

I'm not so sure you'd be able to make a pizzeria named "John's". That's highly debateable.

Other examples of common names as trademarked names of stores:

Modell's
Mandee's
Stern's
McDonald's

Beau's a good guy. A shame he has to be away.

That was really meant to be sarcastic, but hey, whatever.

Really, I think this discussion is frivilous, as nobody is trying to use the same store name as you (At least exactly) and H.Q's use of the word "Hiro" is in no way confusing the businesses. Each is very distinctly its own location, and everyone would probably know what they were talking about provided it was in context. And even if it wasn't, it would take a simple one sentence to correct them appropriately.

Let's be clear. Queso's not using it. It's mostly a Land & Econ forum use of the name.

The discussion may be frivious, at this point. I made a simple request. I got sniped at because of it. Whatever. Maybe I'll wander into Feature Suggestions and ask for us to be able to post "unreplyable threads".

No, you see I would be able to make a store named John's. I never said it was a pizzaria, it could be a big and tall men's shop for all I care, the point is, Papa John's is a specific name associated with a specific product. "John's" and "Papa John's" are significantly different from each other, and therefor calling a mens big and tall shop John's would be violating no trademarks.

I should also mention, Papa John's actually holds the registered trademark to the name "Papa John's"

As McDonald's does with McDonald's.

Generally unless someone becomes well known, the trademark owner won't care.

I am going to go ahead and assume that the McDonald observatory would not name themselves that if it was a possible trademark violation. They named themselves that I am guessing because of someone by the name of McDonald who either was part of the group or an important figure to the group. Just like, say, You naming your store after yourself, or people referring to Hiro Queso's land as Hiroland. Just because you happened to name your store after yourself, it does not mean that you have the rights to the use of the name.

Begging the question. You haven't provided anything new besides rehashing your original argument.

Listen, this is sort of pointless. I've not said I'd take any action; there's none to take since this is a community term and not a business name. There's absolutely nothing wrong with me asking the community to a request. The fact that you and others have been so belligerant in response is unwarranted.

Since Hiroland was only penned in the forums (and not by Hiro Q) I cannot possibly see how this can affect you in world. Everyone knows your business Hiro (P) and I wonder if you could let us know if you have ever been approached in world by someone wanting to buy/sell land?

No, it's just more a forum thing, Alexa.

Though, I have gotten IMs from folks about Hiros *snickers*

Well you're doing immeasurable damage to your brand by keeping on about it.
