I agree. Another example of SL overdesign that misfired. Drop the errant reflections and shadows.

Reflections have improved in 1.7 in that they don't jag over the landscape (they're confined to appearing in water), and in some conditions they'll even look a little "rippled". So, getting there! :)

The problem with both is they're an overenthusiastic attempt to replicate this crappy "first life" server most of us started out on. What's next, skinning your knee when you fall down? Sweating when you dance too long, and carrying around a stink-cloud until you shower? Ugh.

SL doesn't need to be a photorealistic simulation, and the bad non-photorealist reflections and shadows just make it worse. At the very least, being able to turn these "features" off for your own client would help.

In the past fews days the moon reflection did appear not in water(land or sky, don't know), only half the moon appeared when the whole thing should have, one time only the top half and another time only the bottom appeared.

Torley should change title from "Resident of Second Life" to "Forgotten Feature Requests Crusader" (or if you like acrn. FFRC)

Thanxies... :)

FFRC is a great acronym, actually it's a shared acronym of something else I used to say but can't remember what it was.

The reflection of the sun and moon is inaccurate not only in how it appears but also in where it appears.

Oh, how COOL! A reflection of the moon in dirt! LOL!! That's going in my SL photo album (with full credits, of course). :D

I'm watching the Sun rise and the moon set, and there are no longer distorted textures! And the Sun's reflection on the rippled water looks pretty good.

Was the distorted texture fixed with the current update, or has it been fixed for a while now, and I've only just noticed?

Ahh, for the good old days, ..... when objects rendered before you got past them, and there were no gray textures, and the sun and the moon's reflection were in the wrong place.

Didn't know how good it was back then.

YOU CAN GET RID OF YOUR FOOT SHADOWS RIGHT NOW!! Thanks to Kathmandu Gilman! I tried it and it works!! All kneel to the missing foot shadows of Kathmandu Gilman!

As far as the moon reflection, I would like to see it as a rippled reflection in the water. It doesn't have to be an exact mirrior reflection of the moon...just moonlight ripples playing in the water.

When can the moon shadows ever fall in the right place?

The real reflection of the sun or the moon will never, ever look like the ones in SL.

They gave me a real Truman Show moment, the first time I saw them.
