Remove the distorted moon "reflection"

This is a minor point, but in the next version, I'd like to see the moon reflection on the water removed. It really shouldn't be stretched like that and doesn't look right.

Sorry, but it's bugged me every "night" in SL.

I would like to see the moon reflection in the shape of the letter "T" so that SL looks like a painting by Edvard Munch.

Let's Put The Reflection Programmer To Work Writing The Auto-Delete Code

The reflection of the sun and moon is inaccurate not only in how it appears but also in where it appears.

Maybe those responsible should be assigned a task that's easier, say for example, making sure that the proposed automatic trash delete routine stays in the correct folder. Or maybe not.

I concur. Like the ugly black "teardrop shadows" that dog your feet, I find it not only to be ugly, but impractical. In addition, having the sun and moon move smoothly across the sky, as opposed to moving in what seems to be 8-pixel increments or something every few minutes, would be most excellent. :)

When it happens to fall in the right place I think it can look very nice.

Ok I will agree but only if they put the feet shadows below the feet not half way up the dang ankles.

But if your feet look anything like mine, I understand why they need to be obscured!

So I say work on better looking feet for male avs. I am not a caveman!

Look at the reflection of the moon, or any round object, in water, or any flat reflective surface.

It is not elongated.

That's just silly and looks broken.

I like the reflection but it should not be so long and it should not show up on non-water surfaces when you have far clipping turned off. I wouldn't mind there being an option to turn it off but I don't think it should be gotten rid of completely.

I think they wanted to replicate the effect produced by waves reflecting sunlight in all directions during sunsets that makes the sun look rather stretched, but they did it in a rather inaccurate way in my humble opinion.

By the way, you can force the position of the sun if you wish, just press M to enable mouslook followed by Alt+M to control the sun. Now the sun will follow your crosshair to wherever you look at. If the Alt+M combination doesn't work, try pressing Control+Alt+D first to enable the Debug menu. Personally I hate sunsets and nights, especially while coloring/texturing stuff.

Yes, which is why I made sure to say "flat" in my comment. :) When you have a bump in the reflective surface, the curve will pick up different parts of the reflective object, higher or lower parts of the sun/moon in this case. When the surface is noisy with bumps, this has the effect of smearing the reflection over a wider area. If the body of water is still, you get an undistorted reflection.

Our water is still.

(Unless you turn on the horrible wave option, which does bad things to landlocked areas that are close to sea level.)

I can't even turn on rippled water 'cause the .cg that does that has never worked on nVidia 5xxx-series cards.

I agree to both the reflections and the foot shadows.
