Wow, gosh, golly, woot, Willow, could that be an alt? How PERCEPTIVE of you!!!

It's important to keep answering even the longest most ridiculous post because there are just some obvious truths that anyone with intelligence and reason can see if they are willing to shed their FIC blinders.

From: someone

It doesn't matter if it was technically a "sim" or "part of a sim" or "just some dog-meat snow sim the Lindens couldn't sell".

The point is they got land without paying an upfront purchase price.

Please do not deny that.

They got land without paying an upfront purchase price.

Your persistence, and the persistence of the people in this project in skirting, denying, evating, prevaricating about this is truly astounding. So let me say it again for good measure:

No one has skirted anything Profky...err I mean whatever your alts name is...no we weren't charged an up front amount for the land because the land was never ours ...we knew at any time we could be displaced and yet still spent 100's of hours building it.
From: someone

They got land without paying for the upfront purchase price, merely the tier henceforth.

Um, go back and look at the dates LOL. You think because you holler "nice try, fraid not" that makes it any less true? LOL. It got accelerated, for sure.

Again who really cares Profky...by the way when will this turn into a boardman rant or we be discussing how you and one of your alts bid together in a land auction to try and defraud LL?
From: someone

Quote:
It doesn't matter if only one group showed up for the contest, because LL didn't go on providing that opportunity equally over enough time to enable others to take advantage of such an opportunity.

LL set a timetable to get submissions in ...I can't help it you were to lazy to abide by the rules...we weren't....You see there are rules to follow for such things and if they extended those rules then they would look like they were trying to help someone out...pathetic

From: someone

It doesn't matter if I was here in this game or not. Obviously I wasn't. These are matters of principle. The Lindens held a crappy contest which wasn't explained very well, had too many hurdles, and it only got one applicant. They gave some snow sim away to somebody's socialist dream. I'm saying even if only one applicant showed up and it is lousy snow sim, well, it's a giveaway and a subsidy that is unfair and unnecessary, and the obvious confirmation of my point is that the Lindens stopped this program then. Whereas if they had continued it, revised it, stimulated it, we might see 10 things now, instead of this one idiotic socialist democracy toy. Or if they admitted that it wasn't such a fantastic idea, encouraging socialism by depriving socialism of awareness of its costs (like upfront purchase prices).

Actually you were here now werent you? at least some of us in this forum have the balls to use our real identity always...alts are such a disgrace in the forum.

My God, these are such obvious facts, I don't even know where to start, if they cannot be established.

From: someone
Well..um...where are the facts? I don't see them. It was a poorly designed competition that drew one application who was particularly zealous with their utopian alpine socialist dream/nightmare. That should tell you it was flawed, and they needed to discount it, start over, make more contests, or admit that you don't subsidize socialism like that, it's too much of a loud back-pat to something like that in a game of this nature.

The original objection to this entire enterprise is that these people used their subsidized perch to call into question the group land discount system and the discounted tier system, so they were not only prepared to grab a free subsidy from their Linden friends, they were willing to use that feted position to grab away whatever anyone else had managed to pay for from the Lindens. THAT is what was so terrible about what they did

You really arent too bright are you?there was no discounted tier system we had to maintain the tier for the land and I know because I carry the largest load of tier for the project. What is terrible is that someone like you who has GAMED the system to his own advantage points fingers and offers empty rhetoric

.

From: someone

Um...part of the deal...and I'm calling it a) an unfair deal b) a bad deal c) a bad idea d) not replicable.

Similar deals? Huh? I'm not aware of any such deals where you can have the upfront purchase price of a sim waived, i.e. not buy it on the auction, and have LL turn over to you, as your personal playground, and entire sim or part of a sim, where you can then merely pay tier henceforth. Um...where are those deals? I think you'll find they don't exist.
Perhaps there's a student research project somewhere where the Lindens gave some land to something? I think you'll find that it just isn't the case that the Lindens waive up-front purchase prices. And it's a good thing, given how poorly this was organized in the past.

Obviously you are much more mentally challenged than I first thought....you can rent any of the vehicle sims withought purchasing them.....oh and by the way when did your opinion matter on what is a good idea or not?
From: someone

I'm making my case successfully again, since you've been unable to prove that this group didn't get a purchase-price waived except by ranting and huffing and puffing about how "it was a contest" and "it was part of the deal". But you can't disclaim that in fact, this group got the purchase price waived.

There was never a purchase price to waive...you werent required to purchase the land because LL wanted it to be a rvolving process...always something new.....your just still upset that you couldn't get boardman land and you have to lash out at everyone else.

From: someone

Now, say I want to do a government project. Can I do that now, if I don't want to pay the upfront purchase price? No. Could I do it before, if I was the one application in a poorly-run contest? Um, yeah. And that's what we're talking about here.

Had nothing to do with any government project it could have been a bedazzle project or a christmas project ...poorly run because you say so? think not

From: someone

The original version of the revised educational grant system was open only to those pre-approved mentors and live helpers. People howled. They revised it. It's in the Linden forums. Go look.

That is a complete lie ...I suggest you learn to read because now you really are making yourself look bad...the requirement was that sponsored events had to be educational period.

From: someone

Oh, OK, I get it, so when I'm right about something it just becomes more drivel?

Considering you have never been right I wouldn't know ...but anything you say is drivel so...

From: someone

No, I'm just a person asking how you happen to know so much about the Lindens' to-do list? I find that fascinating.

I have no clue what the lindens have planned..I worry about what I'm doing .

From: someone

It doesn't matter if it is a full sim or 1024. It's still free land. And if I didn't exist then, who cares? And if it was "open to every player" so what? Only one group applied, which means it was a poorly advertised and poorly run contest, not even a fair competition. A crappy snow sim was given away for somebody's alpinian socialism. Maybe not such a big deal. But it constitutes a subsidy and a back-pat that opened up problems of fairness across the board. Any reasonable person coming into this situation who isn't in that symbiotic FIC love-bond can see it.

The land wasnt free I had to pay tier as did others. and there was no back pat as even you were allowed to submit a project plan...did you? thought not....spilt milk.

From: someone

I guess it's important for you to hector a newer person with your oldbie status?

No just asshats that don't have the decency or balls to use thier real identity.

From: someone
But I'm looking at people like Lordfly who aren't clubbers. They get a fair amount in their stipend box and they have lots of pluses, for their products. You just have one impression, but it isn't even rigorously tested. I just don't buy what you say because I can pull up the profile of any content-baron in the game and see loads of pluses, even if they don't go to parties. Geez, that ought to be self-evident.

Again you are 100% wrong...then again I expect as much from you.

From: someone

You provide fresh confirmation of its existence daily.

Yes I should as I am the propaganda officer for the FIC as well as Kool-Aid officer.

You prove with every post that you are clueless and that you still harbor a grudge over Boardman....by the way did you visit the swell crack house Lash and I built there?

I abstained from voting because I don't think it's an either/or situation.

Do I believe there's some organized FIC wheeling and dealing behind the scenes and planning and scheming? No, I don't, and I really wonder if those who seem to see that in everything aren't just tasting some sour grapes. ("I don't think you'd let me in your clique, so I think you smell bad!";)

Do I think people in these forums suffer from group think at times and have forum cliques? Absolutely. No forum I've ever been a part of was clique free. It's human nature to gravitate toward those we share things with, and no matter how fair-handed we all claim to be, it's also human nature to slap a verbal smack down on an 'outsider' before we would a member of our clique.

I see over and over again the same people agreeing on everything, (and no one can agree on every damn thing, no matter how close you are) the same people disagreeing, the same groups gravitating toward a particular thread, and the same people flooding a thread with nonsense because someone they dislike, or see as an outsider, started it. Honestly, I don't see how anyone can frequent these forums and not see it. You can pretty much check it off on a list. It's that predictable.

So, is it some plot by an organized FIC? No. Is it just that those people are wiser than everyone else and come to the same logical conclusion every time? Also no.

Yay! this is good post material :). you must be FIC! (I won't tell) ;).

lol, Talen, did I miss something? From reading your posts I expect an army to come marching over the nearest hill in black uniforms with FIC iron-on shoulder patches... but then I think about the people who are supposedly in the FIC and I have a hard time seeing it.

You will never see the FIC in uniform...very secret they are ...very hush hush.....some of the FIC don't even know they are FIC for security reasons.

if you are commenting on the the long rambling post about the FIC that was from a complaint form on the internet :p

well... i dont comment much on the forums. but this thread has me wanting to make two statements.

earlier on a post states that the fic debate in the forums caused 10 changes in sl incurred by the lindens due to the fic debate. lord, help us all if the lindens actually listen to this tiny little bitty minority of actual sl citizens who post thousands of times in these forums. no one actually knows what the true majority opinion in sl is. we certainly do not get a feel for it in the forums.

mostly it appears those adopting a defensive posture on fic issues, or making satire of it, like to think they are fic, or that there is some fic collusion or something. there is no doubt that for a time senior citizens in sl did reap some benefit from mere longevity. as time goes on the game is adjusted as deemed neccesary to address imbalance.

the fic debate itself? its pointless. change will occur without it. the mentioned benefits to senior citizens were just a side affect of old standards that had not taken into account the changing nature of the game due to the massive influx of new citizens, and the growth of the land in sl, and the real money for linden dollars thing.

Interesting how the majority is voting that yes, there is a definable group-think that is the FIC.

Interesting how people tend to resort to offensive language in a debate when they're unable to express a relevant counterpoint.

The truly high-larry-us thing about this is that I believe 80% of the FIC threads have been posted by the anti-anti-fic crowd.

Funny thing about the vote is, it was 21 to 12 one minute, and then 21 to 22 ten minutes later, without any new replies to go along with the "new" votes...
