For the record, I am not "hiding" behind anything. I just identify with Grimmy's manifesto. Unfortunately Wall Street, I think a great many griefers, are or would use this manifesto to justify their own actions by deluding themselves into believing they are doing a 'greater good.' This document serves to reinforce griefers by telling them that: 1. It is perfectly okay to violate established rules of the 'game.' 2. It is perfectly okay to 'force' your opinions in others 3. It is perfectly okay to disregard the other human players and how they feel and think. In other words, it makes griefers feel justified using whatever tactics they deem necessary to do whatever they wish, even at anothers expense. They can now do whatever they wish, whenever they wish to do it, all in the name of a greater good, and feel perfectly justified in doing it. All because, of course, according to the manifesto, it's okay and they are really doing a service to others. This is hiding behind a document. It is using the document to justify your own actions. Not doing those actions because of the principles outlines in the document. I am not implying that you fall in this catagory, but I am absolutely certain that many griefers do. Jessica |

I read Grimmy's Manifesto. Woooo. I thought *I* was bad with the self-aggrandizement. I would write an eloquent Manifesto of my very own but I'm too lazy..I mean Sheesh! It's just a game. But if I did, it would be summarized as follows:
If somebody violates TOS/CS to ruin my game-playing fun, I will write up an abuse report and then forget all about it. No need to get emotional, I wont even remember their names a week later. I am just completing the great and natural circle of griefing. They attack, I get them banned. The only thing that annoys me is when a griefer rides in full of sound and fury, ranting about how they are the soldiers of their great cause and how they have SL in proper perspective as "just a game", "it's not real life", "we shouldn't make such a big deal about it". But if I take the 2 minutes to casually write up a quick abuse report that gets them suspended they cry like the biggest babies you have ever seen!! "WHHAAAAAAA!!! MY ACCOUNT!!!! *CRY* D00000D WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO AND DO THAAAAT?" So I can admire Wall. He hasn't started any "OMFG Why was I banned?!?!" threads. He takes his punishment like a MAN, and he will walk with his head held high as the Lindens show him the door. _____________________

I would like to give you some advice Mr. Wall Street. Take it as meerly that and nothing more.
The power of the written and spoken word is absolutely amazing. Some people, simply by the way they write or say something can make you love them or hate them. Two people can take an idea, put it into writing in their own words, and get two completely different reactions from the same person! Whenever you read something or hear something, be it my post, or the manifesto. Read it critically. This is not something that we, as humans, do by nature, it is something that requires careful planning and thought. As you do this more often, you will get better at it, as with any skill. Noone can tell you what is wrong or right, and noone can tell you what you should or shouldn't believe. People can make strong arguements for, or against, something and tell you why you should believe in what they say. Do not let 'flowery' speech persuade you. If you do not understand a word used by the author or speaker, ask them to define it, or look it up in the dictionary. Do not make the assumption that they know what they are talking about simply because they have used a word that you are unfamiliar with. This is a commonly done by an author to attempt to give them credibility using the logic of, well, they must be smart to have used that word, therefore they are probably right. Do not fall into that trap! To read something critically, as you are reading it take the time to: 1. Read the document entirely 2. Identify the main points made by the author. 3. Compare those main points to what you believe and why you believe it. 4. Think about how those main points relate to you. Ask yourself Do they make sense to you? How do they relate to you and what you believe to be true? Research those points and see what others have said about the points they make both for and against. What is he or she trying to persuade you to do with what they are saying. Is there a greater context for those points? Do the persons arguements for his main points make sense? Are they logical? Does the evidence he or she presents support the conclusion. There are many many more, but that would be a very good start. Doing this will help prevent you from being so easily swayed by rhetoric and will invoke thoughtful reading on your part. Good luck, Jessica |

Wall, stop being a prick, if it's possible.
And Zephyr, your posts were good for a laugh. Thank you. _____________________

Shame, shame. ![]() Oh, in the future, we may very well have computer viruses and other such digital detritus that can cross over from advanced technology into our organic bodies and very well harm us physically and scramble our brains. Some cyberpunk nightmare come true. Then, as the operative word "perspective" is stated, the zoolook will change and we'll have to reevaluate things at that point -- or more accurately, continuum -- in time. In the meantime though, it's curious to see how things are discussed . . . I'm still waiting for GREEFER KIN-turned-TREEFER KIN to write up a manifesto concerning Sapphire's money trees. ![]() _____________________

Not really. But I'm pretty sure our intimate little gatherings in the prison shower room got it covered. ![]() _____________________
