1.6 is a Failure

I have to wonder if it isn't something to do with hardware configurations.

Outside of the asshat server stuff from the last couple days, I've had almost no trouble out of 1.6 at all.

I tiered down from two sims to one because of all the problems with 1.6. Lost a lot of playtime during the repeated snafu upgrades, lost major builds.

Video is unreliable and crashes on me so I don't use it at all. (If I walk off a parcel while playing video, and turn around and walk back onto it, crash. Every time.)

Building tools are jerkier than before. Things fly off into the distance when you are just trying to adjust them. Camera angle changes on you moving things out of view while you are trying to connect them. On balance, actually more tedious to build now.

Teleporting is REALLY screwed up now. Works sometimes, but more often than not I have to relog if I try. So I just don't travel anymore, which is really annoying.

I probably only got booted off once a month in 1.5 -- now its two or three times a session. (I wonder if a lot of the login queue issues aren't caused by so many people having to re-log all the time.)

Bottom line is that I spend half as much time in SL as I did in 1.5, and I spend very little time building anymore becuase there's no point.

Buster

1. Ghost fix was ALMOST in 1.6, but then delayed. It seemed to work okay in Preview... hopefully it willcome back in 1.7.
2. Teleporting has improved since the save-attachments addition. The ghost fix should
fix the other tp issues. Try taking off your 100-prim attachments
3. Such as .... ? The only ones I saw was the one that for 2 days plywood and "none" crashed people on texture selection, but that was fixed.
4. Valid point, minor bug since it's only specific content.
5. was fixed.

According to Robin Linden, streaming video was installed by a brand new Linden that they just could not figure out what to do with, but surprise, he does streaming video. Robin lies alot. All Lindens lie alot now that money is the main preoccupation of their little company. 1.6 is a disaster. The economy is tanked, people are leaving, no one cares about streaming, and the Lindens tell lie after lie to convince us numbers are up. I'm tired of the LL double talk and I'm tired of SL. They ruined it in the pursuit of greed. Robin actually said yesterday that content was not a priority in building the community here. LOL! Well I'm sorry LL but content and the ability to create content is exactly why we are here! If we want to be social butterflys only and play with our friends then we will do it in places like WoW where many of our residents already are. The sights are way better and there is a sense of accomplishment. People are here to build, have control over their little world, and enjoy the creations of others. You forgot that? You think you can compete on just social qualities? lol! People are sick of you LL pulling the rug out from us with every new update. You have pissed on the residents with changes in policy and outright pitted resident against resident on numerous occasions. We're not playing a game here, we're paying you to play a game. In my opinion the good times for you should end. You don't deserve the respect of a community that you have sold out. The majority of residents you have now are like welfare babies waiting on that next stipend, whiners who refuse to learn hating those who have, and a whole army of Liason Lindens who are rude as shit. You don't get it LL and the best of SL is past. Good luck with whats left of your dismal online future. You don't get a wake-up call cause you wouldnt listen anyway.

I had to turn Video off. It crashes me 80% of the time. Video in SL is a nice novelty but as far as novelties go, I would have found voice more useful. Then I could build on my buggy sim and curse out loud while all my little prims go to shit.

Your post is not original. Cheerleaders like you are part of the problem. Let's see you dump a month or more of development into things that you can only sell for 50L because LL destroyed the economy. You may sing a different tune. You're right, Dana, I've only been here 5 minutes. I don't make things in world because I chose not too. The things I make, I keep, or give to friends. So don't read me the holier than thou act. No you are not of the "old school". I am though. My time here makes me "old school" and I am sick and tired of LL's BS! I would like to see them pander to someone other than noob of the week and sim owners.


I'll also say that LL considers you part of the consumer class. They expect you to buy stuff. They expect developers to spend months of their lives making great things for LL's world and they expect you to buy it. It's brilliant really, cept it doesnt work.

Actually, I gotta say, with the exception of the bit about Robin, which I couldn't say either way, Dana's little rant pretty much echoes how I've felt for a while. Though even I might not have put it all quite the way she did

By stating that I'm from the Old School, I don't mean SL. I'm speaking of something my parents taught me. If you're not comfortable, or happy, in a place, leave. Find somewhere else to go and spend your time.

LL actually did good work with the economy. You should leave if you feel this way, because, well, we don't WANT you to be here and be unhappy. So feel free to leave of your own volition.

As far as dumping development time into something you can't sell -- welcome to economics. Product development, marketing, product strategies, consumer research, etc. It's all there for a reason. Large corporations spend more money deciding if they should create a product than they spend actually creating it. Sounds like you skipped that step.

nevermind.. Have your opinions cheerleaders. LL lies, SL sucks, the futures is shit, and yes, I'm leaving. I hate this place and basically everyone in it.

If you have any documented facts to state, rather than just whining like a crying teenager who wasn't allowed to stay out late at night, someone might entertain your thoughts -- and you might even be able to help SL's future as a whole. Legitimate problems with development are always well received.

Show documented evidence of LL lying, i'm sure they're curious to see it too.

You know Ive been here a while as well SI. I have brought forth MANY instances of LL lies, but the cheerleader mafias would destroy those threads before they made it to page 2. It's not like I never tried, you never listen. I'm not trying to win you over or anyone. What I'm saying LL knows.

I do, and I know what you're referring to -- however, what you never provided is what makes you believe LL was lying.

They're developing something rather complicated, not everything ends up as they planned. It doesn't mean they really weren't trying to get there, but it may end up differently.

That's just the way it goes. If you want to accuse them of lying when it comes to policy, development, forward movement, goals, etc then you need to be able to prove it was their intent to deceive you -- which is really difficult to do.

I've spoken with a lot of the Linden staff in my time here, and I don't believe any of them to be intentionally deceptive when it comes to these sort of things.

Si as one example I believe SL version 1.6 was released for reasons other than what they claim. I was informed by an anonymous Linden..hold on now, people are gonna eat me alive with this, grr...I was informed by an anonymous Linden that video streaming at 1.6 was put out to put me out of business. This is what I was told and I believe it. I believe they would implement one upgrade to f%ck with one resident. I have no reason not to believe it.

Once back in beta I got into an argument with some people in Kissling and Cory Linden shows up. After he judged the entire situation wrong we ended up arguing with each other. He then suspended me. I was told on my return by anonymous Linden that my suspension was "considered a victory by some at LL".

Lindens have stalked me in world, mislead me, and ganged up together numerous times to offer no support, justice, or customer service for this old customer since beta. Lindens will outright compete with us at a very childish level and you want proof. There is none. Shall I break into LL and open up all the logs? I don't think so.

It's their world and we are just pawns.
