IGE wouldn't just give someone L$9,000,000 randomly. For crying out loud, they refuse my perfectly functioning card because of "Fraud Control" ...

It looks like someone paid $50 for L$10,000 --- and IGE, by mistake, tacked on a few extra zeroes.... Way too many extra zeroes...

So, LL- please, if you see this, delete the thread because IGE did take care of it, and no need to cause undue nervousness.

But a 5 day old newbie with 10 million L$... yeah, it got me a bit uh, suspicious.

I think it's good that the guy fessed up to it, and didn't cash out. If that happened, this would have gotten a LOT more complicated and messy.

He didn't seem to want to admit it though until we told him that he was carrying around US$35,000. heh.

In other news, IGE gave away $10 gift certificates for the New Years / Christmas. I haven't cashed in my 2kL yet.

Well... I didn't see the original post before it got deleted, but I was able to figger out from the replies that IGE accidently let loose a whole bunch of L$ on some n00b.

If it had been me, and IGE had dumped US$38,000 on my lap through an error on their part, you would have seen an instant crash on the GOM market as I dumped those L$ and quickly cashed out.

IGE should get with the SL program, and automate all of their transactions like GOM has with their ATM's.

I think Wolf deserves a lot of respect for doing the right thing and returning the money to IGE.

I agree, I mean it wasn't the noobs fault was it! If it was me I would have been SORELY tempted to keep the money! and I hope IGE threw him a few lindens for actually handing it back!!!

Well, it would have made the leaderboards and evoked a dozen 'OMG WTF?' threads speculating about who's alt he was and whether he was buying out the whole grid etc.

I have always found IGE to be extremely unpleasant and unhelpful to deal with - my own opinion, of course.

I would have no hesitation in recommending GOM, in spite of their low daily deposit limit - their service has always been reliable and requests for assistance have been dealt with efficiently.

(How did people decidedly get those 10.00 gift certficates, may I hijack?)
