You CANNOT build what you want in a mature sim!!!

I build a huge penis in stanford the other night, was going to be a store....

I had my vote booth up for 1 hr and had 16 votes!

Well it was deleted by a linden yesterday...

the community standards don't say nothing of this sort in the Mature area section....

So with that being said...... it was a mature area! who hasnt seen a penis......and also if this game is only allowed for people 18+ then whats t he problem

Game should not advertise "imagination" if its not true.....

Some linden (cant recall his name) told me that I could keep my penis building but it had to be inside another building...then he said "oops thats not on the new community standards"

Ok well if its not on the community standards that we all have, its still ok to do in my eyes.....

So was he just making up this new rule? who knows.

Im pretty pissed about it.

Oh man what repression, where will the creativity go? I mean you are soooo right. What can be more imaginative than a Penis? I mean how did you think of that?

Thank god you don't live in Shipley, I personally would be quite upset if there were a Penis blocking my beautiful ocean view.

Just because we live in mature areas doesn't mean we want vulgar nasty buildings around (at least i don't). It means we wish to be able to say what we want when we want. We may want to be sexual at times but that does not mean we need sexual building "erected" (sorry i had to) everywhere.

Have fun with your building, i'm not sure why they deleted it, but understand please please please that Mature does not mean Immature.

I myself stay clear of the mature areas. I prefer the vanilla tranquillity of my neighborhood. I cannot comment on the building being imature or not as I did not see it.

With that being said, he has every right according to the community standards faq to build his creation, and the deletion of his building really concerns me.

So, does this say he can make a building in the shape of a penis? No. It is strongly implied, but it doesn't specifically say he can create objects of a penis nature. Nor does it say he cannot.

It DOES say that he could make a large billboard with a photograph of his own penis playing a 10 second sound bite from a porn movie. Which would be amazingly offensive.

And if he DID have a large billboard with a photograph of his own penis playing a 10 second sound bite from a porn movie, I would just shrug and move on because it is in a mature area. And if it was right next to my house, I'd smack my head for living in a mature area on not expecting this to happen. And if I wanted to do something about this, once again per the community standards faq:

So, to summarize:

1) I do not encourage sexually themed constructions in Second Life.

2) The freedom described in Second Life, including the use of Mature and Unsafe areas, is what attracted me to Second Life.

3) If there is an issue with the penis building that he made, I will support it. BUT it must be in the community standards faq so that everyone knows ahead of time. Not just someone's view on whether they like it or not or some obscure forum post.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that he is allowed to have it, and I know I would have to deal with it if he built it next to me.

All I was saying is that just because I live in a mature area doesn't mean I want a silly penis building around. That being said I'd have to deal with it, thankfully the Shipley Building Alliance owns most of the land around me so its not a big deal.

I just kinda wanted to explain to him that though we have mature areas, that doesn't mean we have to place huge phallic symbols everywhere.

While I will agree in principle to your right to build in Mature areas, I am thinking there is a more Creative way to get something of this nature built.

Check out the post by Darwin in the forum, mature overflow, i bet this is why they deleted your building and insist that pornographic items be inside other buildings. Just the fact that you can see these items from PG sims.

If this was their reasoning then I have to change my mind and agree that such buildings can not be allowed since you can view them from PG sims.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. I could fill the center of Shipley with 10 x 10 x 10 cubes of pictures of nipples, but I won't, because that's kind of rude.

Stanford is completely surrounded by other mature sims. So it is not in any sight of pg sims. Everyone around where i Had build seen no problem with it, at least if they did they did not tell me. I did ask tho.

How about one planting outside your RL house? What about pulling one out and carrying it around with you at the supermarket? The Mall?

Would you hand your boss one? Attach one to your thesis and hand that to your professor?

Naw, don't think, why? Because of the same reasons it is not acceptable in a mature sim.

But if you want to run around inside your house with one, up and down the stairs, around the dinner table, chase the dog with it, and then park it in the refrigerator, I say have fun!

SL communities are just a real as RL. Mature or otherwise.

The very concept of having ratings is such a silly american thing!
Children dont need to be protected from penises. They HAVE them. They need to be taught what they are, what they're for, and they especially need to be taught that nudity is natural, sex is a Good Thing and masturbation does not make you go blind.
Furthermore, most people I met here are in their 30s and 40s. I will take a wild guess here and say that they have seen plenty of penises in their lives and will not be the least bit shocked about it.
Personally I think your building was silly, but I will defend to the death your right to build it.

The fact is with children its up to the parent what they know and see, so ratings are necessary.

Also some people are offended by such objects which is why there are such ratings for adults.

just because you think its silly doesn't make it rediculous to allow people to get away from what they want.

You can take an object and modify it until it looks completey different that what the orginal creator created, but still have the orginal creators name on it.

I do not do stuff like that. Never have, never will, not my style. Show me this object.
