Death Threat Redux

Well once again the same person is right back in SL again after a short suspension, with the same death threat aimed at Liv Karuna put right back into his profile, this time with the profanity filtered out. Thank you Linden Lab, glad to see how seriously you took this.

Robin stated a while back that naming names is not in and of itself against community standards so long as it isn't done in the form of a personal attack.

He has harassed Liv in SL for several months, including ims containing direct threats. The club owner reference in the profile is specific to her.

I am so happy that you act so indignant about my being outraged at Liv being repeatedly terrorized by someone, including threatening to find her where she lives offline. Luckily she is out of town right now so the only way he can harass her is through offline IM. She has dealt with this for months, with no help from Linden Lab.

However, the reason I was even aware of this is he harassed another female tonight and frightened her enough that she asked me about what he had done to Liv. You may not take this kind of shit seriously, I could honestly care less. Quit being an apologist for psychopaths and go whine somewhere alse. I could honestly give a fuck what you think.

PS - yes, compared to you, I don't care to see people harassed with death threats, or attacked with racial/homophobic slurs in SL. How can you people say that this forum should be locked? This is a serious matter. Someone is being threatened, to be killed in RL, in SL. Do you realize how it would be like for someone to be IMing you death threats, and "i'm going to figure out were you live", and Lindens not doing much about it? This persons account should be deleted for this serious act. It is plain disturbing, and wrong. I agree with you Cristiano.

From talking to some other people, it appears he went on a spree tonight griefing people. The account is now no longer in Find (he was online just a few hours ago) - so maybe something has been done. I certainly hope so. No one should have to put up with repeated harassment and threats upon their life.

Liv should speak with the poilce. If not the police, a crisis hotline or other service.

I advised her to do that on more than one occasion. It is not unreasonable, however, to expect Linden Lab to uphold their own policies and take something like this seriously, instead of giving a short suspension repeatedly. The same person has been suspended repeatedly. Hopefully, the dissappearence of the account from Find is a good sign, though he harassed her under alts as well.

Annnnyway... the individual mentioned here, (edited), set off about seven C4 bombs in The Shelter tonight and blew a bunch of new players to the four corners. Hardly an intelligent choice on his part, as he left behind the object which, thanks to 1.6, was readily identified by the club owner and turned over to a liasion.

Along with the reports of those effected, myself included, the scumbucket appears to have been banned. One can only hope it is a permanent punishment for someone who has (from all reports) established a regular routine of harrassing others.

Threatning someone's well being over the internet,telephone,mail is illegal - end of story.

Are you aware Yashu that most threats are born of fantasies and that many fantasies become realities?Even the the most optimistic among us can recognise harmless internet babble and seperate it from something more sinister so please dont genralise because we are not stupid.

But you ARE correct in one respect - it is indeed what he wants and is in fact quite possibly his whole reason for being here,I've encountered quite a few men whose sole purpose on the internet is to breed fear because fear feeds fantasies.

Maybe it is, but even after repeated threads ( this is the third on this subject that I can remember) and numerous abuse reports this man has once again been allowed back into Second Life. This is a new kind of criminal for a new age and like it or not these kind of people DO exist here and it's Linden Labs refusal to take action that is the point of contention here.

After less than a year in SL I've encountered too many of these men to even remember,I've had many women seek refuge in my club who have been genuinly scared of these people,is that something we should ignore? My opinion is this - if this person can cause GENUINE concern or fear then something is wrong with the way they are behaving,something that needs to be looked at with more than the usual 7 day ban.
