I can think of very specific examples of where the FIC effect comes into place...

Now, if your cause has the SUPPORT of a few of the FIC, the lindens are more likely to give an audience.

But it's hard to blame the lindens for implied favoritism, because hey... the older players are just more likely to have linden friends by now.

and Cristiano, OF COURSE you would deny what I am saying... you have the skewed perspective that I was talking about... Look at your born date, my friend...

I am sure you lose few disputes...

You know, it’s also possible that some of the older players have experience and a long term perspective. If you couple this with the fact that some of them are attracted to a level of systemic analysis that concentrates in voluntary beta testers – especially in online social experiments – then these people may be worth at least listening to.

This is not to say that there are many new players just as bright and insightful. Just saying that the statistical occurrence of valuable insight among the older players is probably higher than among new players. If you have limited time and personnel, it may be wiser to seek out the wisest, and hope that the young bright people will find a way to get their message to you .

I have a fairly fetid born-date myself. I have heard that the Lindens occasionally read what I write. I am fairly sure they do it only for entertainment value, but they do read it nonetheless. Still, even being old and eccentric doesn’t seem to give me much sway with the King. I think the last time I got individual attention was back on Opening Day, when my security script was making everyone in the sim (Ahern) bounce up and down.

If anyone is keeping track, I usually (always?) lose my battles with the Lindens. I got them to enforce the TOS a few months back in Jessie, and even then they changed their minds and allowed the item to remain.

So, I guess my question is “What makes one a member of the FIC?” Certainly not beta-hood. Not Lifetime membership. Not age. Not money. Not ratings.

What’s the key? What have I missed? How do I get “in”?

Fete me up, Guys!

I propose we form a new secret society called the "Putrid Outer Crust". Nobody is allowed to join unless they first learn of the group's existence, in which case they are required to join in order to maintain secrecy.

Don't tell anyone though.

Your hyperbole filled ad-hominem attack on my use of the word huzzah is duly noted.
