New SL Concierge, return of the Police Blotter, and FOR GREAT JUSTICE!

I just couldn't resist posting about this... I was waiting for someone else to start a post about these new announcements by Daniel Linden, but didn't see anything yet, so decided to have a go.

I wasn't around for the first run of the Police Blotter, but it's a cool thing to see what's happening live and direct, realtime action. The RRP -- Resident Review Panel, of course -- looks to be an fascinating experiment to see what happens when members from the Community can collectively share opinions with LL to guide their decisions FOR GREAT JUSTICE! It is a good thing to challenge each other with ideas. I have been taught this all too well, as long as the discussion remains civil and productive (i.e. not like pro wrestling, hehe).

And the Concierge... my my, that just sounds FINE, like the SL version of Quintessentially:

I'm hoping this touch of class will not only aid grandscale devs with their projects, but increase the human rapport between LL and the SL community and thus help us all to progress in the future. Bring it on! ^_^

according to the police blotter there was a "Obscene and intolerant group titles and charter" incident in "LiasonLand"??? duh wha?

bah...the police blotter sucks now. I liked the old one when daniel added his wit to the retelling of offences much better

The LiaisonLand location is a bit of glitch -- the incident didn't occur anywhere (it was a group name and titles). In the future, this will report as 'No Region Specified'. LiaisonLand is a happy place where nothing bad ever happens.

We now return you to your previously scheduled thread.

I think these are both really cool ideas. Kudos LL. This will hopefully go a long way towards easing people's concerns about the lack of information given to people over suspensions, or at least final banning. I look forward to seeing how this pans out.

I am v. v. pleased with the live blotter

It is great to finally get a summary overview of the level of crime in the society of SL, allowing us to see the amount of crime in a given time, like a day or week, and also the average severity of the sentences handed down.

I suspect most of the frustration following an in world crime (abuse) is not knowing that something is being done. Now, being able to see the kinds of sentences handed down each day, you can see exactly where crime and punishment in SL stands.

Wow, it's like reading the newspaper! I was all happy-go-lucky, but now I know what the mean streets are really like! I feel a lot less safe.

Big thumbs up though, on making the whole justice process more transparent.

After seeing this about the concierge thing i am seriously considering getting another sim.

I think the police blotter deserves a halle-fantastic-lujah. I'd been sitting on a potential rant for the last coupple days about the need for more info from LL regarding abuse reports. This has been needed so badly. It's not perfect, nor as fun to read as the old police blotter, but it's a step in the right direction.

I wonder if the blotter could be extened to include reports where no action was taken (i.e.: "No violation found". I'd also like a clarification...are blotter entries on a per-report or per-incident basis? (since one incident may generate several reports).

The idea of the RRP pannel concearns me, mostly because of the potential for abuse, kangaroo courts, etc, but I'll reserve judgement untill I've seen it in action. I'm surprised there hasn't been an outcry from people who are anti-player government.

I'm definately impressed -great job & great idea... What comes to mind when I see this is "great customer service"

While the new police blotter is a step in the right direction, it still doesn't go far enough. It needs to name names. This 'protection of privacy' issue is crap. Criminals don't get it, (or deserve it) in RL, and should have no expectations of it in SL.

(EDIT) Correction. Minors privacy is protected in RL. But, seeing as we have no minors in SL that is a moot point.

I agree - names should be posted. Then the blotter would really provide some some disincentive to being a griefer.

Also complained about not being able to copy no-copy textures." Warning issued. Liason responsible to handling report given hazard pay and sent home.

All Points Bulletin (APB) All units, please be on the lookout for the sphere-prim bandit. He is reported as medium build, with a gift box on his head - repeat - a gift box on his head. If spotted, apprehend immediately and take to SL University for rehaprimilation. Over.
