Yes, bob, at least 2 dozen times. Do you have ANY idea how many pissed off messages I've gotten? It merely reinforces my disappointment in the community.

Blatently interfered with? Oh come on, Bob, they're fucking green cubes. They're not raping your puppy or anything. They nudge your avatar and clone themselves up to a group of 12. It's not the end of the world.

Yes, I should in fact refund every person who was touched by my cube at least $L50,000 for the blatent disregard of me ruining their fun. Maybe I should send them all a postcard detailing how very very sorry I am, and give them my password to my account.

Or maybe I can just keep trying to track the stupid things down and respond negatively to flippant remarks. Yes, I think i'll do that instead.

LF

My puppy was raped by three of the green cubes....but considering he was humping a light post at the time he was fair game. Two of the cubes apologized profusely to me for nudging me and one was quite polite saying " pardon me " excuse me" but that one fuckin cube had a bad attitude ....kept sayin " get the fuck outa my way" I can do what I want" " you suxxor...I am l33t"... but the one cube explained that he had a bad childhood and how his father was a torus that got bent on occassion and his mothernever thought outside of the cube.....

Wait!

It's also the fault of MS-SQL for not being able to take a little thing like Slammer in stride. DAMN YOU MS-SQL!

411: Denial of service attacks aren't immersive. Come play City of Heroes where the zombie plagues are official, not offensive.

Because lord knows it's a deliberate DoS attack.

And because it's official, it's not offensive?

So if I was "Lordfly Linden" it'd be perfectly kosher?

Lordfly,

You are right; this reaction just shows how our community has changed - IMV for the worse. :(

For god's sake...

Bob, I've apologized at LEAST twice on this forum, maybe more. I've apologized to every yahoo that sent me an angry IM. I've been teleported to every sim in the northern grid to get rid of these fucking things, and I've deleted all the ones I could find.

Yes, it IS the fault of the SL community for not being able to smile anymore. Did anyone call for ezhar's banning when he released those (much, MUCH worse) multiplying fish? Of course not... everyone was "haha ezhar, good one!"

Did anyone call for Pete Fat's head on a stick when he released those tiny, physical ants all over? No, of course not. Everyone was like "ROFFLEMOW, Pete, Good show!" And patted him on the back.

Of course, now that everyone is humping the Leg of Dwellnor, you can't have fun anymore. You have to keep your nose to the grindstone, constantly worrying if you can make enough money to pay for your $500/month land tier. Gotta make those clubs, gotta make those casinos, gotta sell that land...

So yes, Bob, it's the fault of the community for not taking an errant script in stride. It's a failure of YOU and ME to not take a joke. It's a complete failure of the entire social system of this game, YES GAME, to not take it lightly and laugh as you try to stop a HARMLESS zombie horde.

So, Mr. Bob, you can kindly suck my ass. Thank you.

LF

And that, was one of the most imponent comeback I have ever seen on these forums. Totally backing you up on this one, LF!

One of the great treats this game has is to actually be able to make money out of it. But, money (the great corruptor) seems to be taking over the experience in itself. It seems everything is steered towards selling / buying, dwell, land auctions... that some people are having trouble having fun!! I've seen horribly heated discussions over "dwell"? OMFG! I thought the building and the scripting were for hobby purposes mainly... and if you make money out of it... it's like to have resources to doing more inworld. But some people are acting like they live off SL... and RL tension and misery is slowly leaking into SL. Let's keep SL a happy place!

If it impedes on someone's ability to function in SL, deliberate or not, it's a DoS attack. Khamon was telling me about his inability to work on Slate this morning because of the cubes, and the fact that he had to just quit what he was working on because of them. To me, that's a DoS attack. I don't give a flying frell what your intentions were, all I know is what the results are.

Mind you, I like the green cubes! Anything that hinders people's ability to function in Second Life always makes me smile.

Yes, in Second Life it would be. Players wouldd know that you'd run this by Philip or Robin, and they signed off on something else that made the game more tedious and annoying. When a player does something like this, it's DoS; when a Linden does it, it's a feature!

Here are the half zombie half dog - puppies of the victim.

For what it's worth - your zombies idea was cool, the lead up that you had in the forum was way cool, but the asshat reactions that you have received from some SL [temporarily inconvienced] residents have convinced me that my screaming, humping hamsters are probably a bad idea.

So for anyone in the SL community that might have been looking forward to screaming, humping hamsters - sorry.

LF, lets have some fun with this. For example. a team based event to destroy them. Team that finds the most wins a cash prize. Free tshirts with a logo of you standing on a fragmented green cube. That could be fun.

I might have dealt with it differently if you had been apologetic but you didn't even try. You were there in front of me and just carried on 'screaming' something like "where the hell are they all?" "I can't find them"

Your disappointment in the community is at least matched by my (and no doubt other's) disappointment that there are people like you in it with the (apparent) intent of (paraphrasing you) "pissing people off". Not to mention unecessarily unpleasant language and bad manners.

If you (Lordfly) choose to explain the purpose of your actions and behaviour I will gladly withdraw my abuse report and comments here. Privately or publicly.

No doubt someone will send a flame demanding that I lighten up, get a life or whatever now.

I'm getting a mental picture of how LF has spent his last 24 hours. Collecting green cubes that have run amuck in cyberspace. FUN FUN FUN! I think he's going to need a stiff drink at the end of this.

OH MY FREAKIN GUD! JEEBUS CRIPES! Those outthere who feal that Lordfly should be severly punished, put up your hands. And keep them up, so I know who aughtta be shout of of a canon into a black hole.

Common people, stuff like this is what makes SL great. Sure, it can annoying or possibly tedious, but get off LF's back. He's offered that if you see one, he'll come by and get rid of it. He's given you all a script to help him find them to exterminate them. Oh and he's appologized.

But but but! Wait one sec, I am so flawed in my logic, ain't I? Oh oh oh, you can't be possibly inconvienced in the slightest, without some major payback!?!? Well, take a pill, drink a bottle of Jack, smoke a joint (make it several), down a whole bottle of rittalin and freakin relax.

As for those who say DoS. This isn't DoS. Are you still able to play? Are you able to login? Yes? Then whats the problem? Oh wait, I forgot, these little zombies might get in the way of you making some dwell, or selling your barney AV outfit to the noob with the giant arrow over his head and a Club Elite tag on him already... Oh sorry, how could I not understand and sympathize with your total and utter inconvience. So self centered of me.

Bob, Jar, LF is tryin' his best to clean up, what else is he supposed to do? And sorry, having LF pull the sticks out of you a__es is out of the question. Heck, he won't even pull mine out for me!

Arg, usually I'd say peace out, but, "Ummm, I'm gonna burn the forums down" :)

Not spiffy cliffy.

Anyone else file abuse reports or dislike the concept of scripters having fun in SL?

I'll be playing Guild Wars all weekend in protest of this bratty bullshit.

I'd suggest that you leave SL now if you're already taking it so seriously after such a short amount of time in being here. Lordfly certainly doesn't go around "pissing people off", far from it. It was a bit of Halloween fun that went a bit wrong and he's done everything he could do to rectify it - yet you feel all indignant about being 'wronged' and want to stick to your high moral ground (man, your rhetoric is something else over something so insignificant, which you'd realise if you sat down and thought about it for, like, 30 seconds).

Yes, this is a flame to lighten you up if you like, because seriously I think you probably need to. People who say "I might have dealt this it differently" never do in my experience. There's always something else the other person could of done to make the outcome different, as way of an excuse because all you really want to do is have a go regardless.

As I pointed out it was the apparent rudeness that caused me to report an abuse. Had he been able to clarify his problem I would have both listened and responded accordingly. I also take exception to subsequent use of offensive language e.g. suck my ass in this forum. As a gay man I'm simply jealous that he has not yet responded in this forum and made a similar offer.

Hulo.
This is, obviously my first post on the community forums, and my first week in SL, as well.

That being said, do you know what I would think if, on this week before Halloween, my first week in SL, I was in some sandbox bleeding from my cerebellum trying to script a simple rotation into prim and was attacked by large, green, player-made cubes named "zombie" that multiplied when they touched me and died when I shot them:

"Good god! I've come home!...Where's my boom-stick?"

Lordfly, on behalf of a new player to SL, both:
1.) HA! :)
2.) Thanks for making this place a little wierder!

But isn't that why we're here, Mr. Palmerstone? Do get the unexpected interaction, the unpredictable creation/action, the breathe of life that only other humans can provide? Isn't that why we play a massively multiplayer online GAME?

I mean no offense to you, but isn't filing an ABUSE report in this case, like calling the cops on some kids that TP your house? I don't want to be that guy. Do you?

On a side note: Everyone here has been extremely helpful and welcoming in my first week!
Thanks, All!

I have a confession to make.

About 4 months go I attempted to make a fun house. It was one of my first attempts at scripting and it went horribly wrong. It should have rezzed brightly colored physical balls inside a room and at the same rate these balls would disappear. BUT the disappearing part of the script didn't work!! Needless to say, the funhouse caused enough lag to prevent me from being able to stop it...and then shortly thereafter Hawthorne crashed. HARD.

Like Lordfly, I made a script with best of intentions, but it got out of control.
Like Lordfly, my script affected other people, causing inconvenience, and no doubt ruined fun.
Like Lordfly, I instantly did everything I could do to fix the situation. I got lindens on the scene right away so they could stop the script.
Like Lordfly, I apologized.

The Lindens told me not to sweat it. Learning and making mistakes is part of the game and they wanted to encourage us to experiment and be creative. But it's not fair that I would be allowed so much open mindedness while LordFly gets tarred and feathered. His error didn't even crash a sim.

So when you guys are throwing some venom and vitriol LF's way, please add my name in there too. I don't want to condemn those who attack LF because you all have your points. But I also don't want there to exist a double standard for the different people that make scripting errors that affect other people.

Hamstershire - I don't know that expression so I couldn't say. Can you explain what TP means in this context?...If thats what I know as "knock and run" then of course not.

I do however remember an elderly relative, now deceased, who had nightmares because of children causing her great distress with taunting, name calling and general abusive behaviour. I did call the cops in that case.

I get a great deal of enjoyment from my time in SL too. I prefer to play the game in a polite and civilized fashion. If others find that strange then I am at loss to understand why.

I repeat my previous comment:

(PS> before anybody jumps at me, it's sarcasm. Of course it's not good to scare elderly people, but then I don't think Cliffy was scared or is elderly, hence I wonder what the point is)
