After at least 4 abuse reports, a ToS warning, a ton of angry IMs and empty threats, a lot of very upset people, and 8 hours of game time, my stupid zombies are apparently still around.

Ergo, I need your help in hunting them down and eradicating them.

Rez a cube and drop this script into it, then wear it.

From: someone

default
{
state_entry()
{
llSensorRepeat("Zombie", NULL_KEY, SCRIPTED, 96.0, PI, 3.0);
}

sensor(integer num)
{
llSay(0, (string)llDetectedPos(0));
}

}

This has a scanner that sweeps 96 meters around your avatar every 3 seconds, looking for anything named "Zombie" and reporting it's coordinates.

If you find any, you can either a) shoot it with a gun (sometimes works), or b) send me an IM telling me where it is so I can go in there and delete them.

this has been a bad day.

This could be fun with a gun. Any idea what area they are in?

Lordfly,

If I recall correctly, you planned this days ago...you told us about your evil plan, man!

and your right, my threats were empty. It didn't bother me too much. However, since you had advertised you wicked intentions, I figured you wanted some feedback.

Frankly, I loved the idea mate. Perhaps next time you can code them up to self destruct, or give more warning, or tell people how to kill them.. or we can contain it to one area.. or something. It's still fun and I love seeing 'intelligent' behaviour of objects in SL.

Lordfly, I'm no scripter, but why didn't you make it so they will die at your command? :/

NO, because I whine about immersion as well. Everything should be in the client, I hate alt-tabbing. We should be able to put a web browser onto any object's surface. Easy in windows 'cause of that evil MS corp. There are so many things SL won't be able to do because it decided to go multiplatform.

Ban the sissy cry babies who complain about virtual cubes attacking their virtual dollies!!

You know every other MMRPG has special clusters for people who want to pretend everything they see on the screen is real. Having us mixed in together isn't good.

Yes, bob, at least 2 dozen times. Do you have ANY idea how many pissed off messages I've gotten? It merely reinforces my disappointment in the community.

Blatently interfered with? Oh come on, Bob, they're fucking green cubes. They're not raping your puppy or anything. They nudge your avatar and clone themselves up to a group of 12. It's not the end of the world.

Yes, I should in fact refund every person who was touched by my cube at least $L50,000 for the blatent disregard of me ruining their fun. Maybe I should send them all a postcard detailing how very very sorry I am, and give them my password to my account.

Or maybe I can just keep trying to track the stupid things down and respond negatively to flippant remarks. Yes, I think i'll do that instead.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry I've touched such a nerve.

Of course, this whole thing is the fault of the SL Community. We just don't understand poor you. You certainly should have the right to make cubes that attach themselves to anyone at anytime you like, and for those of us that are blessed with them, well perhaps we should just write you a BIG THANK YOU note for giving us some real color in our boring lives.

Or perhaps you should act like a mature adult, apologize for inconveniencing others, and see to it that it doesn't happen again.

Give him a bloody break will you. He has apologised, profusely. Some people did take this too seriously, it's not like they did any harm.

You need a large push gun to deal with those. My fallen-Faith gun has one of the largest pushes in a gun. I love it for this exact purpose. And its silent.

For god's sake...

Bob, I've apologized at LEAST twice on this forum, maybe more. I've apologized to every yahoo that sent me an angry IM. I've been teleported to every sim in the northern grid to get rid of these fucking things, and I've deleted all the ones I could find.

Yes, it IS the fault of the SL community for not being able to smile anymore. Did anyone call for ezhar's banning when he released those (much, MUCH worse) multiplying fish? Of course not... everyone was "haha ezhar, good one!"

Did anyone call for Pete Fat's head on a stick when he released those tiny, physical ants all over? No, of course not. Everyone was like "ROFFLEMOW, Pete, Good show!" And patted him on the back.

Of course, now that everyone is humping the Leg of Dwellnor, you can't have fun anymore. You have to keep your nose to the grindstone, constantly worrying if you can make enough money to pay for your $500/month land tier. Gotta make those clubs, gotta make those casinos, gotta sell that land...

So yes, Bob, it's the fault of the community for not taking an errant script in stride. It's a failure of YOU and ME to not take a joke. It's a complete failure of the entire social system of this game, YES GAME, to not take it lightly and laugh as you try to stop a HARMLESS zombie horde.

So, Mr. Bob, you can kindly suck my ass. Thank you.

It's also the fault of MS-SQL for not being able to take a little thing like Slammer in stride. DAMN YOU MS-SQL!

411: Denial of service attacks aren't immersive. Come play City of Heroes where the zombie plagues are official, not offensive.
