Actually, people in way back beta will tell you that SL indeed had a heaping spoonful of AV sex, via a project called Pleasure Island, with buzzing vibrator fights, whips 'n chains dungeons, etc. In fact, the somewhat sanitary world of beta was pretty much a reversal.

Sex and porn is so shoved in your face every day by the media that I was pleased to hear of it's demise and see it absent in the primarily intellectual and artistic community that was SL. Unfortunately, it just came roaring back once the floodgates were opened. I was sitting in the welcome area a few weeks ago and a female AV offered to cyber me for ratings, and give a tour of her porn hut. Sadly enough, from what I hear, this sort of thing is, nowadays, not uncommon at all.

i have no problems with cyber in SL. i find the adult sections there amusing. i saw some AV's going at it (argh! my noob eyes!) but it was neither offensive nor sensual in my book. actually, i was laughing so hard i had to step away from the monitor for a while. but umm, just becuz i'm neutral about the whole cyber thing doesn't mean i'm into it.

although, business wise, i always wondered about the avatars sitting long hours outside my loft window. what are they doing? it's not like i'm putting on a show. if i was, shit, i'd be charging.

I just had a thought (look out!) There can't really be all out war here in SL like other games, so users turn to another outlet - sex. I firmly (no pun intended) believe that if folks were content in RL they wouldn't be at it in SL.

By *content* I mean not just sexually, but otherwise as well. SL'ers tend to be a kinder - gentler bunch and so working out that physical tension is accomplished via pseudo-sex. Its captivating kind of like meditation (ok I am stretching it here) but the point is, the mind is taken off of RL and its constant barrage of violence of all kinds. So, its a bit of escape.

I personally don't participate in cybering. I am not for it or against it. I once just went to a dance club in SL and watched the dance for a few and left...it made me sad. Go figure.

I like the Thinkers club. But that is me. I "think" we can all live with the differences - merely by looking at RL and seeing how often differences there are not tolerated.

Not into it, like to build and create, but this is how it probably goes:

First..f7 then more f7 then f3, then f2,then f3 and then some of that f9, then f9 again, then f1, then f2, then f4,then f5, then Alt f6 gotta have that one..then control f12 then f7, f7, f8 then f10 again, f10 again, f10 again and then finish with f9, I had to do it since the whole Friends episode was on and Monica was writing down the numbers to how to pleasure.

I just don't really get it, but I guess since I am happily involved and and get all the real life fs I want without worrying about the mouse or the keyboard.
