subliminal---Below the threshold of conscious perception.
I think that to read a post on a forum, one must be perceiving consciously... ergo.. subliminal advertising in the form of text cannot exist in the fashion attempted above. Check your Barthes, de Sassure, or CS Pierce if you need to.
That was about as subliminal as a bull in a china closet. I love it when someone is so desperate to try to make someone else look the fool that it backfires.

I don't have copyright problems, I just don't have any means to enforce anything. After making the mall in Aqua, I was approached later by the same person to build on their island, I declined. Of course, that didn't stop them from using the same design, altering it, and using the centerpiece I designed as a logo/promotional vehicle of sorts.
I could've complained, raised hell, but you know what? The system has crushed me already, and I have just learned that those who take advantage, will, and there's nothing you can do about it, even if you thought you could.
Its okay, I'm really proud to have contributed to the scourge of malls in SL.
And if you are that special someone deciding to respond, don't bother - I've given up, you totally win. Utterly. Completely.

Using the DMCA in a setting that is supposed to be fun and games is lame, weak, and what the french call tired.

I don't accept the premise that Second Life is "supposed to be fun and games". Second Life allows you the opportunity to do this, absolutely, and it's a great part. But SL is heading to replace the Internet. All of LL's plans and press releases talk about how it promotes trade, ownership of copyright, etc.

From: Hiro Pendragon I don't accept the premise that Second Life is "supposed to be fun and games". Not enough strife in RL? You have fun all day in RL and you rush home home to endure some old fashinon make-believe stress? wtf. From: someone Second Life allows you the opportunity to do this, absolutely, and it's a great part.

You got lucky. The person who had my games refused to stop selling them and now they are everywhere. LL could run an SQL statement and remove my name as the owner, or delete the object from other people. They could add a feature that lets me delete the object from peoples inventory. Total protection for the content creators. Makes for boring press though. "What? You let the labourers have control over their creations? RABLE RABLE!!"

There is no good reason why you couldn't script your stuff so that unauthorised copies would delete themselves on rez (granted you couldn't actually delete them from their inventories). Well, there is one reason. Cuz when this was ventured as a solution before, everyone went ballistic at the idea of a programmed 'bomb' in their objects. I would tend to think of it as a safeguard. *ponders* I wonder if there would be any correlation between the people that do this kinda stuff and the ones that disagree with having a built in safeguard against it?

Well, Hiro, glad to hear that you got that all sorted out! Its very pleasant to see that individuals were honest enough and kind enough to not put up a fight and do the right thing! As for Nova, she rocks. I remember liking Nova and what she's done for myself and the community as a whole since the first week I logged into SL. From: Jack Digeridoo Using the DMCA in a setting that is supposed to be fun and games is lame, weak, and what the french call tired. I second that. Often individuals take their virtual posessions much too seriously and make such a huge stink about something other than a bunch of pixels. Through a woopsie I mistakenly set L$8000 worth of objects for sale for L$75 (objects inheriting object's perms on link), and well, I didn't bother contacting a Linden. I didn't bother contacting the new owner of L$8000, I just chalked it up to "damn, I'm 'tupid". From: Hiro Pendragon I don't accept the premise that Second Life is "supposed to be fun and games". If one does not have fun in SL, then go enjoy the real thing and if you're like me, you'll be atleast $100 USD richer per month. As for games, well, come to Blue! Sorry, SL is a huge game, and Phillip is the one playing it, and we're the little lemmings running around awaiting to be blown up

Actually, ever since the permission debates Cory started, the idea of a programmed bomb has not only become more popular with the creative community, but it's started to look like a necessity.

If I wrote that script today, it would have that feature.
