I think it would be nice if prameters like a grid elevation map could be published by LL at intervals, sort of like how the USGS publishes LANDSAT maps. It would be one less reason to have to deploy a grid scanning network like this.

Certainly it is NOT ok to 'borrow' sim resources without asking - but what is the right policy or technology to enforce this? Thought welcome.. Now you what yet ANOTHER scanner system, to even further jam up the grid? One system in every sim is not enough for you Schwanson? You sir, are in for a revelation. _____________________

Pete Fats takes the heat while you collect data via a third party source. You don't fool me for one second Schwanson. The Lindens are investigating this matter. Your evidence isn't very compelling at this point, I'm one of the most vocal opponents of Pete's scanning network, but I've got no conclusive evidence to link it to anyone but Pete. But even if Shwan /is/ landscanning... that part isn't against the ToS. I may not like land scanning, but the lindens have repeatedly stated that not only is it not against the ToS, they deliberatly don't want it to be. Provided it's done within the rules, of course. _____________________

I have asked this question before. I have also received forthright answers.
Examples of some answers: Answer- I wear a scanner. I cruise around in hopes of encountering released land. Answer- I own land in the sim. I have a scanner there. Answer- I buy 16m plots which host a script, which IM's me if land is released nearby. Answer- I have permission to host a script by a land owner. These are reasonable responses. _____________________
