I loved Neverland personally and had many a romantic moments. I'd like to see it stay, however; in regards to cost, I would say simply spawn at a telehub outside of the Sim, pay for admission. If people really care about it that much, they will pay to enjoy it, that way everyone wins. If LL does not make enough to support it, so be it. Personally I would pay to bring a Date there as it has been the most unforgetable time I've ever had in SL romantically.

From: Prokofy Neva === I think LL probably has to face the music about what its game demographics either are, or will become if it grows: not teenage boys, but middle-aged women.
Don't know about you Prokofy - but for return on my investment - I'm dancing with the women!

From: Prokofy Neva I'll tell you my gut on this. I'll bet that when the Lindens started the incubator program, they were thinking they were going to get more technology-advancing boy toys like vehicles, guns, FPS games-within-games, awesome tower builds and astounding scripting, shiny stuff that would enhance their mainly male notion of games. I'll bet they didn't they were going to get a controversial experiment in social democracy like Neualtenberg, or a well-worked theme like Peter Pan involving mainly girl-type make-believe and dress-up (OK, there were some cannons, but I never got them to shoot, did you?)
I think LL probably has to face the music about what its game demographics either are, or will become if it grows: not teenage boys, but middle-aged women.
HMMM wonders which category Prokofy falls under - Middle aged woman or teen age boy with a big vocabulary. As for me, think I will join Merwan in dancing with the women..no wait, I think I will dance with Merwan. Really I just wanted to say, that this was the first spellbound project that I have had the honor of being involved in. What a great team with a great attitude!! Just a thought, there are several middle-aged women that I know that have a good deal of spunk and energy and more class in their little finger than others have in their entire body. BTW the cannons worked for me..not sure what you missed.

just wanted to post a thank you to all that brought such a wonderful project together

heya,
I have known the people from Spellbound for a very long time and I applaud all the hard work that went into creating such a wonderous build. It was a joy just the walk the streets of merry old London and take in the sights. I think the people that are naysaying all that has been achieved are doing a diservice to both LL and the talented builders of this grand project. I can't say enough how much I appreciate the members of this group for taking time from rl and sl to bring this to us. Who cares that they didn't pay for the sims. I for one can only imagine what amount was lost in time and effort that had been set asside by the very people that normally make up a large part of our economy. I can only hope that the words of the few do not discourage such large and grandios projects from coming to light in the future.
My hats off again to the people that brought us Neverland and London.

I went there this morning to say goodbye to such a fantastic place, saddened that at the very least Olde London is just going to go into some database somewhere collecting dust. While there I took a picture of the "credits" sign as I for one want to keep that reminder forever if I can. I am really gonna miss Big Ben....... Thank you one and all again for the honor to witness such wonderous work's of creativity. "Wagner's music is better than it sounds." - Bill Nye

In this spirit, and inspired by Olde London, a complete 1 sim city is being created in Phobos and BonnyDoon by the Living Cities group. Check it out Though the awesome work done by the Spellbound Crew, other projects will continue on building upon the ideas and inspiration created by such a wonderful build!

So, Sensual, your point is "But.. but... THEY got a free sim!"?

To all of you who are bent out of shape about a "free" sim (I don't think it was free - they worked their butts off), why not organize your own creative group of people, put together a large project or two to prove yourselves and then ask the Lindens for the same perk. At that point, if you don't receive the same, you have a right to gripe. Spellbound has worked hard. They've shown initiative, imagination and competence. They have also done all this to share with the rest of us at no cost. They devoted their time, without pay, to cater to us and I think they did an excellent job! Hats off to Spellbound!

They have also done all this to share with the rest of us at no cost. They devoted their time, without pay, to cater to us and I think they did an excellent job! Hats off to Spellbound! I personally am not bent out of shape that Spellbound indeed got a free sim, that's not the issue. It's rather that I ask the cold, hard question of whether this system of "incubators" advances technology and creativity. Yes, it makes me the Grinch. But it's fair to ask. No one held a gun to their head to work "for free" -- indeed, it's troubling and as we already established, thank God they can sell some of their wares separately. Many people enjoyed these sims, and God bless em. There's no need to guilt-trip anybody into genuflecting because somebody worked for free on their free sim. What's more interesting is whether if you get a group together, and buy a sim, you can pay your way somehow, if nothing else, in dwell -- assuming the dwell system ever gets improved to be worth it. That would be the interesting challenge, if it could be done freely and democratically and under free market conditions, without free sims and free labour of this sort that just never gets directly compensated, and then poofs completely. Raising these issues does not mean disrespect for people who worked hard -- they worked hard!. It doesn't mean they didn't accomplish something with imagination. But SL and the system and its impermanence all are real restrictions. It means raising the larger question of whether this system really advances technology and creativity. You seem to feel that it does. I have my doubts.

I feel that Neverland was a gift of to all of us. LL provided the technology and equipment necessary for Spellbound to create such wonderful entertainment. There's really no reason to read more into it than that. Hopefully, this will set a precedent which will allow other creative groups to do similar projects in cooperation with LL that will benefit all involved. I like the idea of an "event sim" that is available to players to create for the pure pleasure of it. If the members of Spellbound don't feel like they have been taken advantage of, then they have not. They have received tremendous accolades for their hard work, LL received some great advertising, and the rest of us had a load of fun. Many thanks to the folks of Spellbound and Linden Lab for putting together Neverland!
