Seems jeska edited my post and closed a thread with jokes.....So I am to assume its ok to preach religon but not ok to joke about it in off topic?

How exactly is Christ performing YMCA intolerent? I'd really love the answer to that....I had some easter bunny kokes too but god forbid I upset the whiny ass christians on the board.

Well whatever you do don't post a pic of him doing YMCA or you'll get edited....Some people here seem not to have a sense of humor.

I think you could post a pic of the easter bunny doing YMCA. Pagans and Heatherns aren't nearly as sensitive about their religious symbols as others. I mean, when your religion gets virtually wiped out, your happy for any publicity. :D

I would love to see the garden bunny and a hamster doing a 'dance'.

TY Merwan. That's like saying all people of a certain race are bad don't you think?

I dunno, Asha. You used the word "all" in a remarkably similar context in the other thread.

I'm sorry but you'll need to fill out form 11B to follow a general rhetorical statement with a specific socratic question. Please refer to the instructions on page 12 of "God Does Not Exist" right after the section on self delusion.

Now that's funny! :D It's all the sweeter knowing it's contraband as well.

From an intellectual standpoint I can see absolutely no reason why such a thing should be banned from the forums. I find Alby vastly more offensive. ;)

The only reason I can think it was banned as intolerable is because Jeska doesn't like the village people....well....that or Jesus didn't pay for the rights to use the song on his new album.

I'm of several minds on this. I found Dirk Kennedy's original post tiresomely arrogant in the context of the discussion that centered around his previous thread. I found many of the responses to Dirk's post to be way-over-the-top. Offensive? Yes. Intolerant? Yes, certainly as intolerant as the attitudes of some Christians I know. And Muslims, Jews, and Hindus. However, no more offensive or intolerant than much that occurs in these forums. Jeska's action had an imbalanced and hasty feel.

But maybe it's just a question of style. My style would have been to tell parables from other religions or beliefs, just to open up the original sentiment to everyone. *shrugs, just my own opinion.

I'm kind of reminded of the Prince at the end of Romeo and Juliet: "See what you have done here. All are punished. All are punished!"

I don't think these threads reflected well on anyone who posted. Dirk, because of his tiresome arrogance in the context of the discussion that centered around his previous thread. His critics, because they demonstrated a similar sort of knee-jerk intolerance they are quick to criticize in certain Christians. Jeska, because she overreacted, too quickly, and without much explanation. And me, because I was careless and didn't make my own point of view very clear.

Talen, maybe you don't care but until reading what you posted in the other thread today I had a very high opinion of you. I expect that from the others but you truly surprised me. :(

Many liberals pay a huge amount of lip service to religious and civil freedoms but when a Christian posts the crucifixion story on Good Friday they come out with guns a blazin. I simply cannot understand why this is somehow acceptable behavior.

You named this thread "Religious intolerance?" which I find somewhat humorous because there is no doubt that religious intolerance is alive and well on this forum. I know that you and your friends think it is a big joke to poke fun at Dirk as well as all Christians for that matter but you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

If you do not want to read a thread about Christianity and what happened on Good Friday then I suggest that you not click on it and read it. If you do at least have the decency to not belittle someone for his or her religious beliefs.

For the record, I never made a complaint to the Lindens or anyone else concerning anyone's post in reply to my Thought for the day.
I made a decision before I posted that I would not attempt to defend what I wrote. People can and will write what they will about what I write, or about God and/or Jesus, or about me personally, but I have made a decision to love you all anyway.
Jesus loved me when I was and am still unlovable. How can I do any less?

Luke 6:28
"But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you

Acts 8:32
"He was led as a sheep to the slaughter;
And as a lamb before its shearer is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.

Love and blessings

talen i will explain to you exactly why it is not so humorous...for christians christ on the cross is a symbol to them of the greatest love one can have for another by dying for all of humanity...to have that same symbol and turn it into a joke is very offensive when you are looking at it from their perspective. im not very eloquent or well spoken...but that is my two cents

Talen,

I complained about Neehai's intolerant remarks in a thread last week, but I thought the stuff you posted was pretty funny.

What's the difference?

Neehai was specifically classifying Christians as hateful, evil people.
You, on the other hand, were poking fun in an obviously comical way that didn't specifically target Christians or specific people.

Yes I did as I was referring to the posters in that forum and how nobody had anything positive to say, the evidence of the posts speaks for itself and I stand by what I said.
