SL downtime Friday morning

As everyone is no doubt aware by now, our "fix" this morning was not only unsuccessful but seems to have made things even worse. It's possible to login to SL but it's not easy.

We weren't sufficiently prepared for the equipment failure we experienced on Wednesday evening. Our efforts to work around the problem while we got our next-gen setup in place have proven ill-advised. Hopefully we'll be able to have the original equipment repaired AND have the new stuff ready by morning, in which case we'll take SL down again to re-configure.

I apologize to everyone for this.

i wonder if anyone is getting in SL? login is slow??! it freezes up for about five or ten minutes and spits out some random excuse. but as far as i can see there's no actual logging in going on.

Well, hopefully they'll have more than just "ready by morning", like some hours posted and when things should be back up.

If everyone trying to log in at once is the problem now, would it be alleviated if they only allow blocks in like they do after a release? Just a thought.

Finally got logged in... here in san francisco... 4+ hrs after the last update concerning "slow" logins...

My Partner just got in on the east coast of the States.

And.. no offers of compensation in any form on the Annoucements page... yet..

Just predictions of more possible downtime Friday morn and promises to fix Accounts that may have been "broken" in their Linden $s tallies...

Oh well... so it goes...

To tell the truth, I am just small potatoes, and I accept that, and I don't mind paying my tier fee, even though shite happens,

But you guys still need to get your technical shite together. Please.

I don't want all the amazing old-skoolers abandoning SL because things are being sucky.

Someone needs to tell us how much of that 8 M can be used for hardware...
