ROFL! I completely agree! Siggy is a little more irritated by this downtime then he is letting on. At least the rest of us KNOW we are irritated. Denial is the first sign. As for RL stuff going on Siggy, there is only so much I can do to help those poor people when I am clear across the world from them. At this point in time, I choose to bitch about not being able to log in to SL.

I am about ready to quit....
12-30-2004 18:21
My latest message upon trying to log in was telling me my computer clock is probably not set properly.

Well I got news for u... It is set properly and coincides with the same time on my cable box in EST.

Nice try for 12 hours and 21 minutes downtime and counting.

And its not my inventory cause my alt with no inventory cannot log in either.

My above comment was not meant for Misty, but for various, un-named people prior to that.

yeah the excuses they are giving us is total bullshit. It has nothing to do with over sized inventories, or the geographic location of where you happen to live. I'm less than 100 miles away from LL, and logins lag as if I'm living on mars.

I also don't think it has anything to do with to many users trying to login at the same time. MAYBE that was an issue at 3pm when the servers first came online, and everyone was hammering the login servers. But hell that's over 3 hours ago and logins STILL don't work. though it seems a few people are getting on.

But every time I try to connect the client usually freezes waiting for a response back from the servers, and I can't even close the client properly some times. Other times it says it can't establish a "secure" connection.

Why would replacing a failed hard drive, rebuilding the raid mirror array, and rebooting the database server cause this much trouble? The stupid server should be no different than it was yesterday before the hard drive failed, if they rebuilt their array. I hope the techs didn't replace it's Ethernet card with an old 10baseT NIC, which would bottleneck everything. Yeah replace that ethernet card with a dialup modem!! might as well!

Jill Linden: If people are contacting you that they can't get in, please advise them that there was brief maintenance on the login server & it's backed up. Let login requests time out. Quitting & retrying before timeout further backs up the login server. Thank you!

LOL shows you how frikkin little you know!

I'm at work - on my lunch break, reading the forums - as I am at 6pm every weekday -- where I couldn't play SL even it if it were running flawlessly.....

So I guess you have your head clear up your ass on that one :P

And as I said -- perspective -- if the biggest problem you have is not being able to connect to SL, I'd say you have it pretty good..

'The rest of us' know what they're irritated at -- a miniscule problem in the big picture..

Siggy.

It is kinda bogus, the whole day-long thing ....
12-30-2004 18:57
... and on top of that, when they have this kind of outage, they should open up a specific Linden forum, so that we can vent, and they can specifically participate (like Cory too) and they can see how effective or ineffective their efforts to restore the grid are.

Im glad they fixed something in the login architecture..... that's wonderful.....wooohooo!

But it's time to let us in already.... or at least give L$1500 to everyone who's been waiting all day as a consolation....

On the other hand, I did finish a major script off-line.... however, on the other hand of that, it's weird not to be able to test a script as its forming...... I'll live.........

-Jeri

p.s. .. and it's really bogus to say, what about the Tsunami victims? That is a real tragedy, for sure... What are we supposed to do, stop our lives completely? No way! SL is very much a part of my life, and that's that.

Some people have never pretended to be mature in the first place..

You're only young once.. but you can stay immature for ever...

(insert fart noise for good measure)

Did I log into the Kid Grid forums by mistake? Or did they start serving happy meals with whine?
