Sadaam and Hitler. What's the difference?

I know but unfortunately with explanations it turns out to be an ugly discussion. I have seen too many political threads and they get down right nasty. I just commented my opinion and feelings about Bush.

Hitler spent his last days as a leader in a bunker deep under Berlin.

Sadam hid in a crawlspace to a house in the Iraqi ghetto.

Hitler took a poison pill shot his girlfriend 2 of his generals and ordered a 3rd general to also shoot him and burn them all up, then that last general shot himself.

Sadam was dragged out of the crawlspace by a kid from Bangor Maine.

Hitler rounded up one ethnic group and put them in labor camps, eventually he went nuts and started gassing them.

Sadam just gassed his general population without a care of who was there. Yeah we know he had weapons of mass destruction, he used them on his own people, remember?

We might have to start another thread for this if we can remain civil -- but here's a psuedo comparison. I'm not saying Bush is actively involved in ethnic genocide or anything, but I'd like to draw the comparison to America evolving into a police-state much like what Hitler did with Germany early in his reign.

1. Hitler gave up the title of Chancellor for Furher. Bush went from President to Commander and Chief. Both personas took on a military rather than peaceful figurative stance.

2. Hitler manipulated the media to cover his own political agenda. Bush manipulates the media to cover his own political agenda. I would list off every lie Bush has made to his people, but it would make this post boring and incredulously long. Here's a few: WMD, pre-emptive strike, war on terror, homeland security.

3. Hitler jailed protestors. Bush jailed protestors. I do have links to the stories of protestor arrests (including nuns!) buried in other posts on this subject. Dig around to see if you can find them if you really want to.

4. Hitler used his secret service and legislative powers against his own people in the name of national security. Bush uses his extensive list of agencies and legislative powers against his own people in the name of national security. Supporters of Hitler didn't care -- they had nothing to hide. Supporters of Bush don't really care -- they have nothing to hide either. Examples are as extreme as livejournal users getting visits from the FBI. They now have records on file about their dissenting opinions regarding the Bush administration.

5. Hitler immdediately removed opposition to his cause from all branches of his government. Bush is trying to do the same. First day in office after being re-elected for a second term, a wave of dismisals went through the FBI to officers with incompatible ideologies.

6. Since the development of nuclear arms, the USA has been the largest and most covert terrorist unit in existence. They own more nuclear weapons than any other country in the world. They have more nuclear weapons mobile and ready to launch than any country in the world. They maintain dirty diplomatic practices in order to make it illegal for other countries to develop and own nuclear weapons. The USA has instigated several political assassinations in order to maintain this control -- but it's slipping up. The current Korean prime minister, the son of the assassinated former prime minister owns nuclear weapons and is pissed. France has a few hunred. Britain has about the same. The USA employs over 20 000 still. Sadly, there really wasn't a dearmament.

... you know. I could go on. But I'm tired. So I won't. So my final bit will be:

Terrorist is becoming a blanket-term. It's a word used as a scapegoat for the Bush administration to do some pretty scary things. Just like a certain other three-letter word became a blanket term and was used to commit horrendous atrocities. Fallujah was a war-crime on the scale of the Nazis (again, I posted the link to a credible article several times) and it was covered up by an "investigation into an isolated incident." Just like how the US didn't torture, humiliate or kill its prisoners in Abu Garhib -- it was an isolated incident. All the video shots in the media of US soldiers patrolling by dead Iraqi bodies in ditches are skewed and misleading and completely out of context. Insurgents, rebels, or revolutionaries -- whatever you call them -- don't just shoot their own people in a fight with their enemy.

When you're country is in a perpetual state of fear and hatred and you have to invade the privacy and freedoms of your own citizens in order to protect them... what kind of country are you running?

If you're going to make claims, display evidence, otherwise it may be construed as Propaganda. Evidence provided in regards to WMD resulted in even Democrats agreeing with it along with the continued breach of violations by Sadaam for 12 years.

Commander and Chief has been a subtitle for President even when Democrats were in Power.

If Protestors were Jailed, it was done by local authorities; not Bush. And as to the reasons why, reason is not presented.

The FBI was regorganized considering the miscommunication within the FBI and Department of Defense from policy that was implemented before Bush came into office.

If Bush is at fault, the people have a right to investigate, and has already been investigated just as Clinton was.

Icon, you convinced me. We are all therefore doing at disservice to our nation and to the world by wasting time sitting in front of a computer playing silly games instead of doing something about it.

We should immediately join the underground in their call for armed revolution. It is the only choice against a fascist state. We are beyond talk! Talk is cheap, it is time for action, not words.

If we do not do something about it now, we will be judged as ordinary German citizens were judged for standing by and watching Hitler and the Nazis do what they did. We don't want that, do we?

Innovative post Icon but you don't convince me. I fear most of the proof in your accusations lie in the slanted media. I know and am sure there were a multitude of mistakes and probably lies made to the president to execute the military actions we have taken. This hardly makes him Hitler though sorry. Also, the term commander in chief has always been the title of the executive office of President. For every president not just Bush. I wasn't asking for arguments on the righteousness on the war on terror, I asked for an explanation of the label of Bush being another Hitler. No one has been able to bring forth the facts necessary to validate this.

Do a Poll on weather we should have inteviened in Europe agaisn't Hitler, I wouldn't be suprised at some of the votes. The Clinton Administration and Congress also interviened in Bosnia without United Nation approval and he never took this kind of critisism.
